Overview

About the property

Open single story floorplan with 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 baths and forest views

Emerald Point is an ideal getaway cabin in the quiet of the mountains. Located at the end of a cul-de-sac in a gated community the setting is quiet and private but still connected with phone, satellite TV, and hi-speed fiber internet.

The house features a master suite with a Cal King Bed, jetted tub, double sinks, oversized shower, walk-in closet, and private deck. The second suite features a queen bed, with adjoining bath and the third bedroom has two twin beds that share the queen suite bath thru a separate entry or use the adjacent half bathroom. The den has french doors and can also be used for overflow sleeping with a large leather sofa and twin mattress for overflow. All rooms have generous closets.

The cabin features a single story with high cathedral ceilings and an open floor plan accommodating seven in comfortable casual living. The spacious kitchen is open to the dining and living area (Great Room) with easy access to the large deck wrapping the outside and perched in the trees with sunset views down the ravine. A large gas grill makes BBQs a must. The Great Room is centered around an inset wood burning fireplace which keeps the main space toasty in the winter with plenty of wood available.

The house also features an oversized two car garage and sunny laundry room so you can bring fewer suitcases for your getaway.

Walking from the house you can explore the groomed Gold Mountain trails (maps available in the cabin) or the logging roads in the forest where you can hike down to the Feather River to enjoy fishing for trout, bird watching or just an afternoon in nature. There are four bikes available to test your stamina on the ten miles of gated roads in the resort or the numerous bike trails adjacent to the resort as well as horseshoes, frisbies and assorted balls.

About Bradley Cutler

The house is as eclectic as the owners from El Salvador and New England. A little latin and rustic tradition blended together. We currently live in the Sacramento area but find time to get away to the quiet of the sierra's with its crisp air and clear skies.

Bradley Cutler purchased this house in 2013

Why Bradley Cutler chose Gold Mountain

We loved the relaxing quality of the area and enjoyed many weekends before purchasing. If you like to hike, bike, cross country, fish, golf, or just enjoy the quiet, you'll love this retreat.

What makes this house unique

The one element that separates this place is the feeling when you're there that you are perched at the edge of the forest on the boundary with nature. It's a true retreat you'll love to return to.

Notes:
The Nakoma Resort is located on our 1200 acre Gold Mountain Development property about a mile from our cabin. The resort features an award winning 18 hole golf course (our cabin is just past the second hole) and a Frank Lloyd Wright Clubhouse and a new Recreational facility, Altitude. The Nakoma Clubhouse has a stunning dining room, and dining terrace, as well as a full spa with hot tub, steam room, sauna, indoor pool and provides spa services, massage, facials, nails, upon request. Nakoma just opened its new private sports facility, Altitude, that features a heated outdoor pool and hottub along with a fitness facility, children's play area, teen center, yoga/exercise room, climbing wall, bar/bistro, and movie theater. The good news - we are members and you can be our guests for a modest guest fee of $50 per couple per week. Children are free and your fee provides discounts of 5-10% on the resort golf, drinks/dining, and clothes/merchandise purchases.

Great, relaxing winter get away!

  • 5 of 5

The house is great. Great for cooking, dining, and curling up by the fire after dinner. Great spot for a winter get-away. We plan to rent again this summer!

Another wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd visit and this time for President's weekend and were pleasantly surprised with a snow storm and a blanket of snow over everything. We really enjoy the cabin with a great family room for lounging and having a nice fire, a large and well stocked kitchen, and a great location to hike and relax. We have 3 boys who have loved both visits and hope to do another.

Great place to stay for a vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the nicest vacation properties we’ve rented. It is a beautiful home, that has been nicely renovated and updated while keeping many nice period details. The layout and kitchen are very functional and easy to work in.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Han. We enjoyed having you, and updating the house over the last few years, so we can now enjoy features like the new deck furniture and All Clad cookware. Can’t wait for the fiber optic hi-speed internet next month!

It is is an excellent place for relaxation and sharing time with good friends or family, is quiet, the surrounding is beautiful and your cabin invites to feel comfortable and warmed.

this was the last stop in our mini tour we had with 2 friends coming from Colombia, they enjoyed the staying here and were grateful for having them on this beautiful place.

Beautiful Property

  • 4 of 5

Loved the house and was very grateful for the food in the pantry. Bradley was very kind and helpful. Just a little of a bother that we had to bring our own towels and sheets. Kind of interesting that we needed to pack our trash out too. I felt nervous that I was going to make the homeowners association upset too. Stars were amazing out there.

Owner's Response: Rural living has its benefits, and limitations - especially utilities. Minimizing laundry and trash help tremendously and we appreciate our guests who can throw a trash bag in their car on the way home due to the difficulty of timing the trash pickup here in bear country. But no worry if you don't have room.

Located in Gold Mountain, ten minutes from both Graeagle and Portola, the house is ideally located for hiking, fishing, mountain biking, swimming, and golf in the summer and snowshoeing, tubing, and cross country skiing in the winter.

Walk out the door and stroll along the Nakoma Golf Course or fish in the Feather River. The Nakoma Golf and Spa Resort expanded with Altitude, a brand new must see 12,000 square foot recreational center for workouts, yoga classes, heated swimming pool, spa, rock climbing and bistro dining with a teen center and private movie room.

The surrounding area is an outdoor paradise with six other local golf courses, numerous waterfalls (180' Frazier Falls) , streams (Feather River out our back door) and lakes including Gold Lake and Lake Davis are just a few minutes drive. Situated at 4800 foot elevation the cabin is also ideally suited for hiking and biking with numerous mapped trails nearby. In winter, snow shoeing and tubing are available at the Nakoma Resort rental shop and it's all accessible up Rt 70 without going over any high mountain passes.

If you don't feel like cooking the area supports many restaurants located on the resort or in the adjacent towns of Graeagle, Blairsden and Portola.

Portola also has a fully staffed hospital open 24/7 with the capability of air transport to Reno.
