Rabbit Run Retreat is nestled in a beautiful, tranquil country setting, located in Norris, TN. A large yard with a patio provides space for outdoor dining or just relaxing.
There are two large great rooms, 5 bedrooms, 2 family rooms, 2 kitchens and 3 baths. Extra sleeping areas on ground floor. Beds to sleep 26, but plenty of space for portable beds.
One great room overlooks a peaceful valley and pond where deer often wander. It is set up with large tables for crafts, meetings or dining with a view!
Jim and Judy operated a sign shop, Val-U-Signs, in Oak Ridge, TN from the mid 80's until 2006. When we retired, our son purchased, and now operates, the business.
I guess we couldn't stay retired because here we are starting another business. In 2005 we purchased a Crestline modular home and erected it on our property in Norris (8.6 acres). We lived in the home until early 2012. It's a lovely home, but more space than we need. We subdivided the property, moved another house next door and now live there.
Over the years we have done quite a bit of entertaining in the Rabbit Run house. Plus there was one wedding and one memorial service. It really is a perfect place to have a gathering.
We chose the name because we have had a rabbit rescue here for several years.
Our rabbit rescue pen has become a home for chickens, two rabbits, and a guinea pig. Our granddaughter, Charlie, is an animal lover; and chickens are her current favorite. We still have a house rabbit in our home. He is a white dwarf named Marshmallow. There are also four cats--they are all gentle, and they may come to visit the Rabbit Run house yard.
Judy Valentine purchased this chateau / country house in 2005
It's a lovely and peaceful place. When we purchased the property in 1997, we wanted to be in the country without being too far from civilization. It's just a few minutes to drive to walking trails, streams, Norris Dam and Norris State Park.
Only an hour away from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, the retreat is 16 miles north of Knoxville, TN--just minutes away from Norris Lake, Norris Dam, the Clinch River, Appalachian Museum, U.T. Stadium, hiking, biking, and horseback trails.
Shopping, restaurants, and easy interstate access are all close by.
Had a great time there at Rabbit Run Retreat with a great group of Veterans and the program for Veterans, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. Allowing us D.A. Veterans to come together and capture a little R & R, do a little fishing and be around a lot of great people. Thanks again and look forward to the next event. Sincerely, William (Charlie) PHWFF M'Boro, TN
Great place for a group. Judy was an exceptional hostess.
This last weekend, our non-profit organization spent three days here for our annual Board of Directors retreat, and it was truly wonderful!!!
My favorite things about Rabbit Run Retreat are (not necessarily in this order)
- It is huge!!! We only had nine women here but could have fit so many more.
- Every room...bedrooms, bathrooms, common areas...was not only clean and completely stocked, it was so comfortable and homey. We all agreed that we felt like we were staying in a favorite aunt's home.
- Between the four cats, the guinea pig, chickens, duck and deer, it was like being in our own little Charlotte's Web. Add in the pond out back and it really is idyllic.
-Everything was as described on the website. In fact, much of the time, it was even nicer. There are books and TV's and cushy couches if you want to cuddle up in a rain story, and lots of little nooks and crannies for people looking for a little quiet.
-The side porch!!! This was where we spent 90% of our time and it was so perfect for our needs. Lots of chairs and tables, brightly lit, windows we could open to let the fresh air in....since we had to work for hours, it was such a lovely place to be. And when we broke off into committees, there was so much room to spread out.
-The kitchen has all drawers and cabinets labelled and there is a bunch of stuff that most of us always forget we are going to need. Coffee filters, saran wrap, etc. Really....like being in someones home.
-Judy, the woman that owns the home, was fantastic! She was very easy to work with, answered all emails so quickly, and was really friendly. She was close by if we needed her, but when she left, we all felt like she trusted us with her home and was happy that we were there.
I could go on and on.....we all really loved it and can't wait to schedule something else here. Anyone that has any questions about this review, and our experience here, is welcome to holler at us at firstname.lastname@example.org In the meantime, don't hesitate to book this place....you will be glad that you did!
We had a wonderful experience with this property. The house is large enough to host several people comfortably. It was refreshing to have everything you need to sleep, cook, etc. right there. I've stayed in places that do not provide those things and it turns into a headache.
Judy was awesome and made sure we were settled in and enjoying the property. Would strongly recommend this place to anyone wanting to spend time with family or friends.
We had a big group get together to celebrate New Year's and had a blast! There is plenty of room for everyone to do different activities and have their own bed /sleeping area. There is privacy around the house, and it is beautifully furnished and comes stocked with everything you'd need. Talked to the owner on the phone and she was very kind. Definitely would stay again!
I wanted the perfect spot for my children and I to have our family reunion on 2016 Thanksgiving week. I have 5 children, each are married and have 9 wonderful grandchildren ages 1,2,3, 5,6,7, 9,10,11. I lost my dear husband, their father and grandpa almost 2 years ago. This was our first time to spend a happy time together as a family in 5 years, and we found the perfect place for us all. The kitchen was my favorite place where most of the time we hung out, with many, many chairs sitting around the table laughing about good times together. The smell of cooking and smiles, and laughter. There was also the huge area with many tables and windows for all of us dining.
This was the first time for some of the grandchildren to see and meet each other, since our locations are UT, WV, MO, SC, and NC. One morning my 5 year old grandson woke early and I was already awake and he said " Grammy, where are all those people that I was playing with", I think he may have thought the day before was maybe a dream. The children loved chasing the chickens and watching the bunnies and little guinea pig. The atmosphere was out in the country but we were minutes from Walmart and shopping. Some of us went to the Aquarium and "Believe it or not" in Gatlinburg and it was so perfect for us and the kids, and we all had such an enjoyable time. Then on the last day, the few of us that stayed we went to Dollywood and it was so beautiful with the Christmas lights and all. I even rode the Ducky and the Bumble bee with the grandkids it was a blast, I'm 63, but I'm short so I could (almost) fit on the kiddy rides.
There were so many beds that could accommodate us and more! The kids made sure they slept in a different bed each night and they even made forts and watched TV from one of the bunk beds.
There were so many smiles that week, it warms my heart with all the memories we now have from this perfect spot for me and my family.
At first, they were all curious as to why Rabbit Run Retreat in TN??? Soon they were all glad we chose this beautiful location. They all grew up on a farm in WV "living off the land" we had chickens, trees , & country living...perfect for bringing back memories, plus at the Rabbit Run Retreat we were near fun places, and we could take walks away from it all sharing our lives .
Judy you are such a sweet warm lady, I enjoyed your generousness bouquet of flowers, and bringing out your pet bunny for the kids pet. Wonderful Wonderful Memories!
It was out in the country but near shopping and points of interest. Love visiting all the old cabins nearby
to see how life was lived many years ago. Also liked visiting the Dam near this home.
The basement was a home on its own. sleep many more than we needed. We were greeted
with a basket of fresh flowers
Many of the above services are located within 15 minutes of Rabbit Run Retreat. Others are in Knoxville, Clinton, Oak Ridge or Pigeon Forge--all within 90 minutes of our home.
