Ocean Palms is a tropical get away. Our cottage was clean, welcoming and included everything we needed in our home away from home. Located very close to San Diego must sees and even walking distance to eateries and groceries. Or take a quick walk to a vista point just down the street to watch sunrise and sunset. We hope to book the triplex and do a family vacation. Only downside...need to return early in day for good on street parking.
We enjoyed our stay in this property. Just right for a couple! Pros: Spacious living and kitchen areas. Patio setting is lovely. Has wifi and air conditioning. Ocean Beach area is easy to get around in. Nice, safe neighborhood. Cons: Parking is a challenge at times. Some might want to know that it is in the outbound flight path for SD Airport. Planes start taking off every few minutes at 6:30 a.m. Description of property was accurate and was well maintained. We would recommend this to friends and would stay here again.
Had a great stay at Ocean Palms! From the time I expressed interest in the bungalow, La Jolla Vacation Rentals responded immediately with requested information. That timely, courteous, informative communication continued all the way to checkout. Ocean Palms is little gem of a bungalow, tucked in beautifully landscaped, secure lot, with 2 other bungalows. Each bungalow has its own patio and small landscaped areas, and there is sufficient space between them all. Ocean Palms is nicely furnished, tastefully decorated with a focus on both charm and guest needs, adorable, and super clean. Nice, new looking tile in the kitchen and bathroom. AC in bedroom worked very well. Nice breeze if open windows. Right amount of amenities, not too much or too little, leaving enough space for our stuff. No problem with codes to get in and out of the compound or our Ocean Palms bungalow. Loved using the codes instead of hassling with keys. Enjoyed the paths and outdoor landscaped areas. Used the dog washing station in the back of the property, that consisted of a dog washing tub, hand-held shower nozzle with hot/cold water, available shampoo, and even towels for drying! Thought, care, personal pride & passion went into this into this little compound. It is evident that the owner loves this property, and put his/her soul into it, it's not just a revenue generating machine with minimal upkeep. We were there from Sept 8-11, and always found somewhere to park close to the bungalows, but generally we found the last available spot each time. Perfect location for us. Close enough to Ocean Beach, Dog Beach, via a short drive, but far enough to be out of the fray. One quick block away, on residential street, to see the ocean. So happy we chose to stay here, it was the perfect place for us.
This is our second time staying there and we love it. The reason we picked this place is so that we could take our dogs to the dog beach. They have a tub to wash your pet in the back section and provide you with shampoo and conditioner. The cottage is clean and as described. The cottage is very well supplied with anything that you need from cooking ware, utensils, pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses, wine glasses, margarita glasses, towels, washer and dryer and much more its a home away from home. :D Even though its surrounded by apartments but the owners have strategically placed plants and trees to make it feel like a little paradise. We highly recommended. :D The parking is a bit chaotic but that's how parking in California is, the same everywhere you find a spot and its yours, if your early you can have parking right in front but late and find anything close. The restaurants and beach are very close so can you walk there, beautiful weather for walking about 5 to 10 min.
Awesome vacation we stayed for a week. Comes exactly as advertised. Very clean, it has everything you need for a stay as long as you want. This place is really a great find if you want to be the near the beach. The secure enclosure surrounding the cottages offers privacy in an otherwise crowded neighborhood. Finding parking in the evening can be a hassle with many other cottages and apartments nearby, but it is free. I would definitely recommend, I will be back someday.
We had a great stay! The only draw back was no assigned parking. If you want to go out on the town at night, forget about trying to find ANY parking close to the house when you return. However, if you plan on staying close to the beach during your trip, and/or can make plans to be back to the house before 5pm, then parking is less of a headache. Once we figured this arrangement out, we canceled any plans we had to drive into the city at night, and instead drove into the city only during the day. With our car parked before 5pm every day and we decided to walk the short distance over to Newport Ave. (It seemed as though it would be a LONG walk, but was only a 5-10 minute walk to get there!!!). There is a great collection of wonderful restaurants and shops on Newport Ave to browse, with a Farmers Market held every week. We had a great time trying out all the food with a different option every night (and then some)! We also walked down to Sunset look out with our dog, and walked around the cliffs just down the street (dogs are not allowed on the cliff walkways). The neighborhood is very quite peaceful! The property itself is run by a professional rental company, so the costs for deposits and cleaning are less than most places! They do a great job keeping up the grounds and with house keeping. The property is just as pictured, and even more peaceful. We loved hanging out in the enclosed porch at night in the beautiful weather!!! Keep in mind that there are three little bungalows within the gates of the property. This home is closest to the entry gate. :)
Minutes away from San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, Downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, The Gaslamp District, Petco Park, Qualcomm Stadium and lots of beaches.
