Overview

About the property

Charming Log Home, Four Bedroom +bunkroom, 3 Bath, Sopris Views From Large Deck

Our log home provides a place for our family and friends to escape and unplug. We would like to share it with others who are captivated by the mountains and the activities that go with a mountain get away. The majestic setting is private and peaceful, yet minutes from excellent dining/shopping and even a Whole Foods Store. The unobstructed view of Mt. Sopris with the ranch lands below provides an ever-changing scene. Whether it's for morning coffee, afternoon sunning, or evening stargazing, the deck can be enjoyed almost every day of the year. Elk, deer, coyotes, fox and a plethora of birds inhabit the property along with some pesky chipmunks.

Our log home exudes relaxation from the moment one enters the doors. One guest says, 'Each time I visit, I fall in love with the place all over again!'

The three level living provides ample room for a variety of generations and provides sleeping accomodations for twelve. The main floor has an open living/kitchen area which expands to the large deck with its incredible views and several grills.

Also on this floor are two bedrooms (queen bed) and a bath.

The master suite (king) is perched in the loft; Mt. Sopris can be viewed from the master shower.

The walk-out lower level includes a family room with 52' screen, the fourth bedroom (king), and bunk room (sleeps 4) and a bath. The house has plenty of linens and towels.

The ample parking area provides room for trailers and multiple vehicles. This property includes 4+ acres bordered by BLM land

and accessed via black top road.

PERFECT in EVERY WAY!!

  • 5 of 5

You know when you wake up and see the unobstructed views of Mount Sopris, Chair Mountain and Buttermilk its going to be a GREAT day! We stayed in this home while we were visiting our family in the area. The well equipped kitchen was perfect and were able to prepare several large meals with all 10 of us seated around the Harvest Table. The kids loved the basement area with many Foosball tournaments while running movies in the large seating area.

Definitely plan to stay again! Thank you so much for offering your property!

Beautiful get away

  • 5 of 5

House was very roomy and open with beautiful deck and windows with views of Mt. Sopris. Mary was very good about keeping in touch, helping us with any concerns, and returning our damage deposit promptly. Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to make and serve our Thanksgiving dinner. We stayed with my parents, my husband and 3 kids and my sister, brother in-law and their two kids. With 3 levels there was space for everyone.

AWESOME Vacation Property!

  • 5 of 5

My family of six adults and five children (ages ranging 3 to 11 yrs) all loved this property. It's location is close enough to tourist attractions to be very convenient, plus rural enough to be undisturbed by surrounding neighbors. Everyone enjoyed a comfortable night's rest in a bed (not pull out couch, air mattress, futon, etc for the kids). In no time, the kids found the toys in the basement and were playing foosball and putting the train track together, while the adults unpacked!

At the end of the day when all would head to the shower/tubs, we didn't even run out of hot water. A HUGE PLUS!!! The house is super well stocked from shower soaps to kitchen condiments. All appliances were modern and the laundry room has an area to fold clothes. The grill on the deck was great and really appreciated! Absolutely everything was in great working order and convenient. Even with our sizable group, finding enough cooking utensils/pans was no trouble. Having seating at a table for our entire group was a treat!!!

The views of the mountains are incredible. A family of mule deer regularly passed through the property every morning and night, complete with a nursing fawn. One evening, a harmless gray fox trotted along the far edge of the property! It surprised all of us that there were so very few flies/bugs in the area, making it extra pleasant sitting outside on the deck w/o swatting at insects!

The property owner is VERY good to work with and super fast to return any emails or texts. Although we only visited once on the phone, I never doubted she'd be responsive to any issues at any time.

There are no cons that we could think of concerning this rental property. El Jebel and Carbondale are both very nice towns to get additional supplies, go out to eat, shop, etc. Thank you so very much Mary Ellen!

Beautiful welcoming home

  • 5 of 5

The views from this home are magnificent. It's quiet setting away from other properties is the perfect backdrop and the large deck provides for peaceful relaxing. The sunlit home is well equipped, very comfortable and clean, and a perfect setting for a family gathering (we had four generations and all had a wonderful stay). The owners could not be more helpful or welcoming. The location has easy access to excellent grocery stores in El Jebel and outdoor activities of all kinds. We absolutely will stay here again on our next trip to the area.

Great view, lots of space

  • 4 of 5

My friends and I enjoyed each having our own bedroom for a reasonable price, even though it meant getting up a little earlier to drive for skiing. The kitchen and dining areas were wonderful. The view was spectacular. Communicating with the owner was easy by email or phone. Would like to go back again.

Our log home is located 170 miles west of Denver and is just minutes from Carbondale. Carbondale is situated in the heart of Colorado's central Rocky Mountains at the confluence of the Crystal and Roaring Fork Rivers. This lively, hostoric town was listed as 'Top 12 Towns' in National Geographic Adventure magazine's '50 Next Greatest Places to Live and Play'.

Carbondale is at the crossroads which makes for great exploring. Travel to Moab in 3 hrs., Crested Butte in 2 hrs., Vail in 1hr., Redstone in 25 min., Marble in 40 min., Aspen in 40 minutes or Glenwood Springs in 15 min.

Mt. Sopirs is the god of the valley and the majestic backdrop for Carbondale. This picturesque town embraces a sense of community that values recreation, great dining, art and artistis, community gatherings and events - all underlined by a relaxed, upbeat lifestyle.

The First Friday of each month finds the historic downtown businesses, the Third Street Center, and the Hwy 133 corridor hosting evening open houses along with live music, street performers, and special events.

Every Thursday night during the summer, locals and guests round 'em up for the Wild, West Rodeo at the Gus Darien Riding Arena. All summer long music can be enjoyed in the outdoor venues featuring Sopris Music Fest, the Summer of Music Series and Mountain Fair. In addition, just 30 minutes away lie all of the many events and amenities of Aspen!

A plethora of outdoor activities wait at the doorstep. Bike the Rio Grande Trail, Prince Creek, Red Hill or head up to Independence Pass outside of Aspen. Fly fish the Gold Medal Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, Crystal, and Colorado rivers. Golf the River Valley Ranch course which lies along the banks of the Crystal River with Mt. Sopris as the breath taking back drop. Enjoy the endless hiking trails, white water rafting, hot springs, horseback riding, climbing, kayaking or spending time in the historic towns nearby.

The winter paradise provides as many activity choices as the other seasons. A 30 minute drive finds Ajax in Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass, Buttermilk or Sunlight ski/snowboard recreational areas. Snowshoe or cross country ski at Spring Creek.

Even though the list of activities in the area is endless, one of our top favorites is just hanging out and unplugging from the normal day to day hub-bub. This tranquil retreat has a way of doing that to even the most hyper!
