About ann holladay

We built this home in 1990 and have added on a couple of times in the last 8 years. Our family, three sons and many friends have loved this special spot for weekends and summers for over 20 years now:many wonderful memories have been created catching crabs, boating, biking and long walks along private country roads.simply watching the most spectacular sunsets is reason enough to come!

ann holladay purchased this apartment in 1990

Why ann holladay chose Eastern Shore

my husband grew up in Baltimore and spent summers around the chesapeake,so after getting married in 1979,we started visiting this well familiar area and fell in love with this particular spot.We loved the expansive views over Broad Creek with the most amazing sunsets night after night. We have enjoyed many family and individual bike outings, often to Oxford via the Bellevue ferry and lunch, dinner and shopping is a short distance away, with many lovely offerings no matter what direction you go.

What makes this apartment unique

we built our home around the sensational views of expansive water and huge horizons showcasing the most incredible sunsets throughout the year. One can sit and simply look at the glistening water, the expansive starry sky,the ospreys building their nest while listening to the songs of the various birds and other wildlife. It's wonderful to be away but yet so close to excellent restaurants and local tourist attractions ;to have the choice of going out or staying in and grilling and eating in the gazebo and then watching a movie(wonderful assortment provided!)and ending the night under the stars!Did I mention the incredible sunsets??????:)

Beautiful cottage on the Bay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend at the cottage. From the time we booked until after we left Ann made us feel welcome and communicated well.

The 2BR cottage itself was perfect for two couples. Connected to a large beautiful home via breezeway the cottage had separate entrances and felt private. The decor is that of a upscale english cottage and is very well maintained and clean.

Ann obviously thinks of every little detail and we wanted for nothing during the stay. She had the cottage very well appointed and supplied for all the things we might need for a short stay.

We arrived to delicious banana bread and she personally checked in to introduce herself and welcome us to the cottage. She also made the grounds available to us from the dock, canoes/kayaks/bikes (though we didn't use them). We enjoyed the property immensely from cocktails in comfy chairs overlooking the beautiful bay and great sunsets to the solitude of watching the stars on the dock after the sun went down.

A great stay.

Perfect getaway! Amazing guesthouse!

  • 5 of 5

"Charming English Country Apartment" does not give this this property justice. I stayed in this home for 3 days with a small group of friends over the 4th of July weekend and could not have better things to say. The house (large guesthouse) was clean, comfortable, and in top condition. Ann was the perfect host -- making sure the house was stocked with linens, towels, and all kitchen supplies. The house is attached to the main house by way of a little gallery/enclosed walkway, but there is definitely a sense of privacy and seclusion. We enjoyed grilling each night and relaxing on the lawn and dock watching incredible sunsets. During the days, we took advantage of the kayaks, lawn toys and bikes that were available to us. The location is ideal, as it's close enough to town for a quick grocery shop or coffee run, but far enough to get the real country-side feel. In all, there was not one complaint from our group -- we all had the best little trip and recommend this property very highly. 5+ stars for sure! Thank you, Ann!!

Amazing weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time at Ann's cottage! It was great escape from DC. Ann's home is beautiful but the view is picture perfect. We started the day with coffee overlooking the water in the Adirondack chairs and finished with a beautiful sunset. There were tons of lawn games, kayaks, and plenty to do! It was only a short drive into town which was very enjoyable but we couldn't wait to get back to the house! We can't wait to plan our next trip! Thank you Ann for being the best host!

Believe the hype!

  • 5 of 5

Four of my girlfriends and I visited Ann's stunning and spacious property last weekend. The reviews honestly do not do this place justice. The five of us slept comfortably and never felt cramped- not only is the cottage spacious, but the surrounding land, dock and bay access gave us the room and solitude we were seeking. The kayaks were a big hit, and we took them out into the bay multiple times a day to observe the birds and wildlife. The view of the sunset cannot be beat. St. Michael's is a close drive, but we ended up spending the full weekend enjoying the beautiful property! The bathrooms are large, comfortable and modern, and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own meals, as we did. Thank you to Ann (and Peaches!) for checking in on us- she really is a magnificent and welcoming host. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful and serene

  • 5 of 5

A lovely and well appointed guest house. Perfect for a quiet girls' weekend or couples retreat. We were in the area for my son and a friend to complete an Iron Man competition. It was the perfect quiet spot to rest up for and then unwind after race day. Beautiful evenings On the waters edge watching the sunset. The homeowner made little touches that made us feel welcome and more comfortable. A wonderful experience, I would book again if I ever have occasion to be in the area again.

The property was gorgeous! Lots of space. Definitely the place for peace and quiet.

Ann was a great host. We saw her daily during our stay. Her communication before, during, and after our stay was very good.

The house was fully furnished...just like the pictures showed. We were welcomed with a delicious loaf of banana bread in the kitchen! We were very grateful that Ann allowed us to bring our dog. He loved running around in the large backyard and playing with Ann's dog, Peaches.

We spent a lot of time outside...on the water in kayaks, riding bikes, playing basketball, eating in the gazebo, sitting on the porch with morning coffee, and watching the spectacular sunsets on the Adirondack chairs!

The weather cooperated for a majority of our stay. It did rain a bit, but we spent that time playing games and watching movies (that were provided at the house).

This was truly a home away from home. We would love to come back again!
