About Vacasa, OR - Oregon Coast Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

This house has the potential to be great. It seems to fallen on hard times of little care and much deferred maintenance. I wish we had read all the reviews before we rented this year; many of the issues from earlier this year had still not been addressed.

This was our second time at this house. We like the location and the ability to bring the dogs. We don't mind the older furniture. There were several issues that had not been fixed since last year (despite comments in this survey: such as the mold). The refrigerator worked this year (last year we had to go get ice and use our coolers).

Kitchen is reasonably well stocked with pots, pans, utensils. That is helpful.

We had to make three calls about the lack of housekeeping; manager promised to get back to us and never did. We did discover (by email) that we were refunded the cleaning fee.

Really too bad

 • 1 of 5

This is the second stayed at The Crow’s Nest. First impression entering the home on Wednesday Aug 2 2017 was, “oh dear, I think the owners are just trying to get all the money they can out of this place before they sell the property, or the ocean takes it away.” The previous year, we were pleased enough with the place to book it again. However, this year showed marked decay, a lack of attention to maintenance and detail, and a general disregard for cost to value.

Upon booking for this years visit, I was informed that The Crow’s Nest was raising its rates. I wrote then, that I felt if the rates were being raised then some upkeep was needed to justify the added expense. This year the ONLY improvement was the addition of a new mattress and bed frame in one of the bedrooms. Aside from that one new bed and the new branded soap, shampoo and towels (which in my mind given that there are way more important places to spend the money, is just silly), there was nothing at all to demonstrate even basic maintenance let alone any improvement to deserve a rate increase.

The downstairs shower flat out didn’t work, and leaked significantly and continuously – 3 grown capable adults tried to fix it to no avail. This was so obvious, that the cleaning crew should have caught this prior to our arrival and saved Vacasa some money in water usage.

The outdoor grill doesn’t work. There was not enough glassware for any needs; most marked was the 3 wine glasses (there were plenty last year). There was no dishwasher soap (there was last time). There were no dishtowels (there were last time). There are comforters tossed into closet floors that are not clean and prevent the doors from closing. There are 2 huge missing pieces of glass on the outdoor deck. There are deck boards not nailed down on the outdoor deck. The sink faucet doesn’t work properly, and hot water blasts anyone trying to wash a dish. There is a chunk of missing baseboard in one of the bathrooms. The furniture looks so much more worn and hodgepodge since last year. There are layers of dust on all the fake flowers in the kitchen and bathroom. The blinds on the windows don’t all work. There is a window in the living room that won’t open and close properly. Still one of the beds really needs a new mattress. And not all of the beds had mattress pads, which is a hygiene issue.

The view out of the windows is glorious. The Oregon coast is rugged and beautiful and the sandy beach is dreamy. The home is well built and was clearly well loved at some point in the increasingly distant past. However, when you raise your rates and we are paying more than $1000.00 a night, you must understand that discerning people expect you deliver on the basics. Not luxury, but the basics. When you consider that The Crow's Nest is booked much of the year at the prices they ask, I find it impossible to believe that they can't afford this kind of basic upkeep.

This is a treat to our family from my husband and I. The cost isn’t a small amount of money to us. It was important for us to feel like without doubt the money was well spent. However, my feeling now, is that either Vacasa or the owners of The Crow’s Nest are greedy and you are willing to do the very bare minimum and even in this you are not delivering.

We won’t be back.

Fantastic location!

A very private getaway just a few minutes from town. The home is very comfortable and clean. The beach in front of the home is incredible - it is wide and sandy!

Good house in a great location--needs help

 • 3 of 5

The house itself is great in terms of space and location. In agreement with other reviews critical of cleanliness and overall condition. The missing panels on the porch railing replaced with construction netting isn't acceptable in a rental. The broken glass below should be completely removed as well. Burned out light bulbs, no replacement garbage bags, too few and mismatched glasses, etc. We had a good time there but a little more care and attention to detail wouldn't take much effort and would improve the property immensely.

The Vacasa rental process was extremely smooth and easy so no complaints there at all.

Good location!

Good place right on the beach. House definitely needed some things fixed (railing outside, heating system,) Especially for having a two year old. Had plenty of rooms and space.

Disappointed with the condition of the property.

 • 1 of 5

The housekeeping was very poor. The dining table, floors, and carpet were dirty. We had to clean it ourselves. I've stayed at other vacation rentals in the area and never had this much issue with the property. The walls were sticky and dirty.

As for the furnishing, for the price, they were in bad condition. The sofas were all old and just nasty. We had to buy something to cover it to be able to sit on it. The beds were all old. I was very disappointed. There were some loose woods for the deck flooring. It felt very unsafe to have my kid around.

I wouldn't call the stairs going down the beach stairs. They were unsafe steps cut into the dirt going down. It's not safe at all.

The house had so much potential. All it needed was a little update with the furniture and some attention to the cleanliness, guest would be happy. It felt they just threw anything they found in a junkyard into the house.
