Overview

About the property

Welcome! We invite you to enjoy the magic of Birch Bay - an aquatic summer paradise, next door to Vancouver, B. C., Seattle, and the cities of the Northwest. Over the decades, families and generations of all ages, have come to love this idyllic spot with its sheltered, warm shallow waters, and so many aquatic and recreational activities. Gather the kids, grandparents, family members and friends, and join us for a fun filled, relaxing vacation that will linger in your memories for years. Now, with three units, VRBO 192841, 584142, side by side, upper units, and 404881 a lower unit, all with great ocean views, we can accommodate larger groups, extended families, gatherings and reunions.

Enjoy views of the Bay and the Gulf and San Juan islands from our living room and front deck. The 'bay view deck' is outdoor living at its best. As the sun rises, flowers, trees and the greenery of the garden setting, come to life. Start the morning with coffee, the morning paper or breakfast. At midday, lunch or snack with the sun overhead. Later at happy hour visit with friends and family, and enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine before dinner or a BBQ. Later, enjoy dessert, coffee, conversation, and the sunset, as the sun slowly fades behind the mountains of Vancouver Island. An end to a perfect day! And, as our guests report, a perfect vacation.

Our home in Birch Bay, is newly renovated and tastefully decorated, and occupies mid and top levels at the Jacob's Landing Complex. Architecturally designed, it features high vaulted ceilings with floor to ceiling windows to capture the view of the Bay! Living room, kitchen, dining area, bathroom, washer/dryer, bedroom and front deck complete the layout of the main level. A second bedroom, with queen bed, closet, adjacent bathroom and wall mounted TV, complete the top level. Meals prepared in Irene's newly renovated kitchen with its full stocked pantry, are guaranteed to satisfy the heartiest and most demanding appetites and extend the family budget as well. The dining room table seats 6 comfortably. Bon Appetite !

Because of its sheltered location, Birch Bay's warm, shallow waters, are safe for all ages. At low tides, children can explore the sand bars, hunting for clams and crabs, building a sand castle or flying a kite. Birch Bay is perfect for boating and kayaking, with a convenient launching ramp at Birch Bay State Park. And lastly, the area is classified as one of the most important birding areas and bird watching is a popular past time. Watch for Bald Eagles!

Our guests love the heated indoor Olympic swimming pool, summer and winter alike. The racquetball court and the game room for ping pong and foosball along with two tennis courts, add to their enjoyment. They can walk or bike to a scenic path following the perimeter of the Bay. Golfers will discover two championship courses within 5 minutes of the condo. And those seeking alpine walking will find the trails of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan to their liking and only one hour to the east.

Linens, towels (kitchen & bath), beach towels (plastic colorful shovels and buckets for the children, for beach play), dish washing and laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, and kitchen staples provided. Bring only groceries, and personal items and your camera.

ENJOY!

About Jack and Irene

Originally from British Columbia, Jack and Irene have long enjoyed the recreational attractions of BC and Washington state. Later, Irene's family moved to Southern California, leading to a banking career and a Vice-Presidency at a major bank. Jack's career in engineering, took him from Western to Eastern Canada and the US, where he completed his graduate education in Business Administration, and started a teaching career. Later, he returned to the west coast as a Professor of Management at the University of Southern California. They are car enthusiasts, students of history, and political science and enjoy frequent travel to Europe. San Diego is their California home, and Birch Bay their home in Cascadia. They invite you to share it with them.

Why Jack and Irene chose Northwest & Islands

Birch Bay is at the hub of an incredibly attractive vacation area, embracing lower British Columbia, Vancouver Island, the Gulf and San Juan Islands, the Olympic Peninsula, Whatcom and Skagit Counties, the Cascades, and two of North America's most attractive cities, Vancouver and Seattle. And, now, easily accessible from most of North America, through Bellingham, Vancouver, and Seattle International Airports.

Jack's introduction to Birch Bay was at the age of 2. Since then, we have sailed and fished in the Gulf and San Juan Islands, skied at Mt. Baker, Stevens Pass, and Whistler. Climbed Mr. Shuksan, and peaks in Garibaldi Park, biked on Vancouver Island, Fraser Valley, and Whatcom County. We love this part of the world, the raspberry, blueberry and blackberry picking and Salmon BBQ's, and is a return to our roots.

What makes this condo unique

All the acquatic and recreational attractions of this immediate area, are within minutes of the condo and only 10 minutes from the Canadian Border, and less than 1 hour to Vancouver and 2 hours from Seattle.

Wonderful! Outstanding! Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Jack and Irene's place for the Labor Day weekend. We met several family members and friends at Jacob's Landing and we had a ball! The condo was everything we expected and more. I have never stayed at a condo that was as well stocked and as comfortable as this one. On the way we stopped in Bellingham and stocked up on the things that usually aren't in rental condos. We ended up giving most of those things to our friends who are residents there. We loved the condo, we loved the area. I just can't say enough good about this place.

Property was exactly as advertised

  • 3 of 5

Jack and Irene's condo was very comfortable and was exactly what we expected from the photos and description. Nice not to have any unwanted surprises. We had an oceanview but without the noises of the road running beside the beach as the condo is set back somewhat. The home was very well stocked with the essentials. We particularly liked the living room/kitchen area. Very comfortable furniture to relax on. We used both decks nearly every day (weather permitting). It was also a great location for us to attend our daughter's wedding in nearby Peace Arch State Park. Daily walks along the beach were an added bonus. Thank you so much Irene and Jack for the use of your home. We had a lovely time.

Sisters' Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Irene and Jack couldn't be more pleasant!!! My dealings with Irene via email and/or phone were great. We had the pleasure of meeting them while we were in Birch Bay and had a couple of glasses of wine with them. Here's a "toast" to Irene & Jack. Thanks for your hospitality while you were there. Your condo we stayed in was great, everything was like the photos. One of my daughters came down for a few days and is now wanting to go down for a girls' weekend for her birthday in November. We had a GREAT time. Thank you.

Lovely Place!

  • 5 of 5

The first full week of August will always find me at Birch Bay for the annual "Birch Bay Band Workshop" as I am a band director. A friend from Alaska and I stayed here for the week, and although we weren't at the condo very much other than to sleep, we found it extremely comfortable, clean, well stocked and a perfect place to be! I had stayed in Jack and Irene's condo next door to this one several years ago, and it was just as wonderful then as it is now. Hopefully I can have one of their places again next year!
