About the property

3 Bedroom, 4 Bath Home On Shadow Mountain Lake

Clean lines, warm wood, open spaces, comfortable furnishings and perfect proportion soothe the spirit in this house designed by an Interior Designer as a get away for her own family. The comfortable great room overlooks the lake and mountains through a window wall proportioned according to the Golden Mean. Enjoy the vintage stereo equipment streaming your favorite music through wall and ceiling mounted speakers. Bond with friends and family while preparing meals in the gourmet kitchen which effortlessly accommodates multiple cooks and has seating for 5 at the island counter. Build a fire and roast marshmallows or make s'mores in the super efficient Rumford Masonry Fireplace. Head downstairs to the entertainment center with large flat screen monitor, blu ray DVD player, and surround sound. There is no TV service but you can rent movies or stream your favorite shows via high speed internet.

Outside, gather on the dock to read, fish, or launch your favorite boat from 2 of 3 slips. The lake is great for fishing, boating, water sports (bring a wet suit!), bird watching, wildlife viewing, lounging and enjoying the spectacular scenery. Never get in your car; take your boat into town and tie up at the town dock for lunch, ice cream, or shopping. Cross country ski on the lake in winter, or drill a hole in the ice and catch a fish!

The house a private bedroom and bathroom on each level, perfect for 3 couples or 2 families with kids. The location is close to everything: Rocky Mountain National Park west entrance - 1 mile, Grand Lake Village center - 1 mile, Grand Lake golf course - 2 miles.

About Kathryn Foster (Owner) or Allison Beauvais (Local Manager)

Howard and I were born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and both of us, coincidentally, moved north at the age of 14; Howard to Colorado and I to Minnesota. We did our graduate work at the University of Colorado and have lived in Boulder ever since. Though we love the mountains and Colorado, we missed the water; so we began looking for a place where we could have both. We fell in love with Grand Lake instantly, purchased our land in 1992, began construction in 2001, and moved into our dream vacation home at the end of 2002. Our 3 daughters have grown up here and love to come back to this special place.

Why Kathryn Foster (Owner) or Allison Beauvais (Local Manager) chose Northwest

Location Location Location!! Best view, right on the lake, with easy access year round. In summer, the private dock is a glorious place to hang out and read or visit with friends, and of course provides instant access to your boat for water skiing, wake boarding, tubing, wild life viewing, and joy riding. In winter, skiing and snow mobiling are right on your doorstep. Shopping, restaurants, library, seasonal theater, and a charming village center are just a short walk or boat ride away. Rocky Mountain National Park is less than 2 miles away, and golf, tennis, the nordic center, horse back riding, and many more activities are all within 2 miles.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the view of Baldy, the way it is perfectly framed by bluffs on each side. The south east exposure, proximity to town, and year round accessibility. Shadow Mountain Lake has less boat traffic and it's eastern shore is in Rocky Mountain National Park so can never be developed. The lake is shallower, warmer, and has more wildlife. Freezes sooner and thaws later than Grand Lake, extending the season for winter activities. It's the best.

Memorial Day to Remember

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Moonraker for the Memorial Day weekend and we loved it. Slept all 6 adults with comfort and style. It is obvious that the owners take pride in their home and their property manager does a fine job of being sure it is ready for guests. The dock provided loads of fishing time and the windows provided loads of view time.

The home is warm and inviting. It is well stocked for reading, games and cooking a gourmet meal. We highly recommend it.

Could not have been better.

  • 5 of 5

This place was a lifesaver. Cooked several meals in the very thoughtfully well equipped kitchen. The place was ground zero for our daughter's wedding. It was perfect.

The property is absolutely breath taking!

  • 5 of 5

I can not say enough wonderful things about this house, the owner and the property manager. I rented the house for some family members to stay at while at my wedding. The house was immaculate and the lengths the owner went to to ensure your stay was pleasurable was something I have never encountered in a rental property before. Fresh flowers and a sweet welcome note greeted us upon our arrival. Check-in was easy and the in town property manager was a delight. She even thought to text me on the day of my wedding to see if there was anything she could help with. Everything in the house was labeled, clean, and easy to locate. The owner spent time on a beautifully put together guide book that helped make our stay so enjoyable. This was without a doubt the most gorgeous home I have ever stayed in and I am forever grateful for the memories my family and I were able to make here. I highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the beautiful Grand Lake area.

Great home to enjoy an unbelievable location

  • 5 of 5

The home was absolutely great. We stayed with two other couples and the house was perfect for that. The kitchen was sufficiently equipped and we enjoyed several meals around the dining table. The views from the loft and from the main level are spectacular -- morning, noon, and night. The nice little town of Grand Lake is an easy walk or a short drive. And the hike to Adams Falls is not to be missed. We enjoyed boating on the lake with our rental pontoon boat too. 5 days was not enough!

Beautiful location and a outstanding property. We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Moonraker during our wedding week. It was our home away from home during our whirlwind visit to Grand Lake, and we had an incredible time. I recommend this property to anyone looking for beautiful scenery and some luxury comforts. We certainly enjoyed it!
