Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
Spacious & luxurious two bedroom and two full bath condominium on the slopes. The photo of our building with the chairlift in the foreground shows just how close we are to chairs five and six. This is a true ski-in, ski-out condominium located about 100 feet from the chairlifts and main Plaza area. No streets to cross, ski to and from your door. This is total convenience at our favorite Tahoe ski resort.
The condo built in 2000, has many upgrades and amenities including huge windows, ten+ foot ceilings, small outside deck with BBQ, large screen plasma TV with DVD, comfy leather furniture, hardwood flooring, gas fireplace, granite countertops, washer dryer, and high speed wireless internet access. The dining table expands to comfortably seat eight.
The condo has beds for four; the master bedroom has a king bed and its own full bathroom. Bedroom two has a new queen size bed and uses the full bath just outside the bedroom door. A queen size portable air bed can be (automatically) inflated in the living room as needed.
Two sets of snow shoes are available in the condo if you want to go exploring.
Our building, Snowcrest Lodge, has a new and gorgeous jacuzzi/spa with views out to the mountains. There is nothing like it after a hard day on the slopes.
Tired of skiing? In 45 minutes you can be at South Lake Tahoe sightseeing, gambling, shopping, or taking in a show. It's really the best of all worlds; Kirkwood with its world class skiing is quiet, peaceful, and away from the crowds and yet only a short (and beautiful) drive to Lake Tahoe's action. Zip Lines along the tree tops now available winter and summer.
During the summer months, the chairlifts open to take hikers and bikers -- including their bikes -- to the top of the mountain. Enjoy the endless trails, views, wildlife, and solitude. Nearby Carson Pass is a great starting point for hikes to Meese Meadows, Frog Lake, Winnemucca Lake, and points beyond. The wildflowers at these high elevation (8,000 to 10,000 feet) bloom throughout most of the summer and are nothing short of spectacular.
Kirkwood is a great place to bring your dog. If you plan to bring a pet, please let us know in advance.

About Richard Odenheimer
We hiked and skied the Kirkwood / Carson Pass area for years We live in the SF east bay with our son and Australian Shepherd, Tasch.
Richard Odenheimer purchased this Condo in 2005
Why Richard Odenheimer chose Kirkwood
Before we bought in early 2005, we used to ski, hike and backpack all over the Sierras but we found ourselves returning over and over to the Carson Pass - Kirkwood area because of its quieter and less commercial feel, fantastic on and off piste skiing, and nearly non existent lift lines. Also, with a base of almost 8000 feet, we consistently get the best snow. Our condo is just yards from the base of Cornice Express and Solitude chairlifts and we NEVER tire of skiing directly in and out our back door. We chose Snowcrest because it's a modern building with a luxury feel, and who doesn't like a little luxury after skiing all day?

Great condo and location
Condo was everything the other reviews said and the owner very responsive. We visited in late July to hike the Carson pass area which was excellent. We found the condo to be much like home and will return next year. Highly recommend this as a location to explore the Sierra south of Tahoe for those who who want to be away from the mid summer Tahoe crowds.
Great place to stay in Kirkwood!
My family and I stayed here for a week and found the accommodations to be great--the condo is well laid out, close to the slopes and quiet. The condo was easy to get to, had garage parking, and had luggage carts available in the garage (which I really appreciated), and was a short walk / ski down to the lift chairs. The bench and ski hooks in the foyer were a very nice touch and really made getting geared up/down easy. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!
Right on the Slopes
This unit is perfect for medium sized families with any age children. It feels spacious, but cozy and has a nice kitchen. Once you walk out the front door, in less than 60 seconds you can be on the slopes. Easy in and out for lunch, and the parking is great as it is completely covered. Nice because our dog loved coming along as well. I would highly recommend this place and owner.
The perfect Kirkwood condo
This was our third long MLK weekend at this condo, and our best yet. We love staying here because Snowcrest is one of the nicer buildings at Kirkwood, and this first-floor unit is in a great location for getting in and out to the slopes quickly. The condo has a nice big entryway for boots, skis and jackets, with a fireplace to help warm up quickly. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a gas stove and all the utensils we need -- important since there aren't too many good places to eat at Kirkwood. The unit is always clean and well-equipped, and has a great layout, with the living room separating the two bedrooms.
We recommend it highly, unless you are thinking of booking MLK weekend, which we think of as ours!
Fantastic Kirkwood ski in/ski out condo
If you're looking for a true ski in/ski out condo, this is the place for you. The condo is on the ground floor, so an easy walk to the snow and quick access to lifts 5 and 6. The condo itself is spacious and well furnished - a home away from home. An underground garage space comes with the rental, so no need to dig out the car at the end of the vacation. Highly recommended.
Skiing, Mtn Biking, snow shoeing, fishing, hiking, swimming in nearby lakes (Kirkwood Lake is the warmest!)
