Seattle is a FAVORITE city for foodies. Enjoy every ethnic cuisine within 1-5 miles.
I have loved inviting people into my home for dinning parties, writing groups, and after-work happy hours. I have also indulged in home swapping with other families while traveling. My home is my castle and it pleases me to share it with others. I teach writing at a nearby college and also co-host a weekly radio show, so I am nearby and available to you during your stay. Feel free to contact me about Seattle sites, best places to eat or explore, and anything regarding the townhouse.
Debby Handrich purchased this townhome in 2002
I purchased this property for its perfect location--I adore the Green Lake neighborhood. I take the ten-minute walk to the lake regularly, rain or shine! There is always an inviting cafe or coffee house calling me in. The neighborhood welcomes every age group. Little people will love the kiddie pool and basketball courts and jungle gyms. Additionally, I feel in love with the property because it was brand new; I am the original owner and I have taken excellent care of it. As I said, my home is my castle, so I have enjoyed decorating it making it feel inviting. This home comfortable sleeps two couples, or one couple and two kids, or one couple and a friend, or one couple and three little ones.
I especially love the bay windows in the master suite which offer a fantastic view for sunsets. I added a patio a few years ago and enjoy taking my lap-top outside where I can easily connect to my blazing-fast & newer cable service! Very reliable and wireless. Inside, I feel the hardwood floors and molding give this new home a craftsman appeal. Additionally, the neighborhood is peaceful and just a 1/2 mile walk to the best public and happening lake anywhere near Seattle.
From a mailed card:
Your townhouse is very inviting! I had such a nice stay, and I really appreciate you for allowing dogs. I was able to find a great doggie day care and I loved going to Green Lake! While I am not a cook, I am impressed with your kitchen! Thank you for all of the delivery recommendations; Eddie's Thai food was excellent every time. I got all caught up on sleep (very peaceful here!) and I look forward to another stay in the spring.

This home was wonderful and added a memorable and very pleasant addition to our stay in Seattle. It's location, in a quiet residential area, offers easy and walkable access to the Green Lake area, as well as short drives to shops, markets, and other sights in the area. The home itself is beautifully decorated, fully equipped, with a care and hospitable energy that speaks highly about its owner's concern that her tenants have a very good experience in her home. It has two bedrooms, each with a double bed, which easily accommodated two couples comfortably. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the laundry has a new washer and dryer that are easy and convenient to use. Also provided are little touches like maps and resource guides to the area, a library that should easily satisfy the bibliophile in the family, several roomy closets, and new and very workable appliances. The varied artwork, furniture, curtains and the like throughout the entire two floors, add color and class and suggest the soul of a much beloved home that is only coincidentally also a rental. The owner was delightful. She was very conscientious about answering questions or providing information to make our stay enjoyable. We would recommend her home unconditionally and will look forward to staying here again when we are in Seattle.
Townhouse was nice and very clean. Kitchen (Keurig, toaster, plates, utensils, etc.) and bathrooms (towels, toilet paper, etc.) were well equipped and stocked, which we appreciated. Full size washer and dryer availability was nice. Communication with Debby over email was good. Her instructions were clear with good details. Parking situation was mentioned in website, but still surprised how hard it was to find a space. Second bedroom bed situation (we were aware it was a futon bed) was a little uncomfortable for older guests. Surprisingly, we did not miss a TV in the main sitting area as the TV was only in the master bedroom.
We really enjoyed ourselves at Debby's house, it was comfortable and relaxing. I cooked one night and found everything I could have wanted and more in the kitchen, and we really enjoyed some great food nearby. One night we walked down the lake for ice cream and another day we spent time at the nearby park. Great house at a good price in a lovely little area.
This was the perfect place for a little city vacation. Walking distance to many great restaurants on Greenlake and close to family. It was a very relaxing getaway.
This was our first time using VRBO and Debby made it a great experience. She was very easy to work with as she responded quickly to all questions and scheduled time to show me the condo before our check-in date (we are local and needed a place to stay during our home remodel). The condo is very well kept and hot water is instant. The main floor contains the kitchen, dining/living room and a 1/4 bath. Upstairs there are two bedrooms which share a full bathroom and the laundry facilities. Debby's beds and bedding are very comfortable and she does an excellent job making sure her closets are clear for the guests to use.
The condo is about a 6 minute walk to the north side of Green Lake. There aren't as many restaurants in the north area of Green Lake as there are on the east side, but there is sushi, pizza and a grill along with a Ben & Jerry's to cure that sweet tooth. You can also swing by a few different places for facials/waxing/lashes. I would say for grocery shopping you'll need a car/uber as PCC and Safeway are a bit farther away than most people want to walk with a bag of groceries.
We brought my daughter's strider bike (she's 3) and she loved riding around a new area which made the walk down to Green Lake tolerable for her. The main rode you have to cross (85th) is very busy, but there is a dedicated cross walk w/a light. Despite being near Hwy 99, 85th and minutes to I-5, we heard very little noise. I was shocked by how peaceful the condo is and would definitely stay again if we need a local place to stay in the future. Thanks to our wonderful experience w/Debby, we are now booking a vrbo for our next trip to AZ instead of staying at our usual Westin hotel.
This house is in a convenient location, is well-maintained, excellent response time from Debby. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Seattle area.
