She is conveniently located 5 minutes from East Matagorda Bay by boat, a stone’s throw from Mitchell’s Cut.
In your down time, enjoy watching barges and shrimp boats from the upper deck, and enjoy casual fishing and crabbing from the private fishing pier and boat dock located on the canal in the back yard. Step out onto the balcony and enjoy the magnificent view of the gulf. Take a walk down the newly constructed staircases towards the dock, or just sit and enjoy the view from the 8 by 8 foot landing with your favorite beverage. A nice little place that was great to spend the weekend.
For what my wife and I was looking for this was a good choice and we will most likely come back. The property is well maintained, very clean and comfortable. It was just the two of us and we wanted to put our boat in the water and fish. Even though it was cold and raining we still had the opportunity to do just that. You are just seconds away from the inter coastal and bay systems of that area. The boat ramp was nice although the canal is very shallow which made it a bit tricky to load. Part of that was me and the cross wind. I think it would be fair to mention that this is a small place, only two bedroom, one bath with just one couch in the living space so would not be that great for more than four people. But if you are looking for a place for a quiet getaway for just the two of you and maybe another couple you will love this place. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Quiet escape on the canal
Before we even booked Paradise Junction, the owner Sheila was friendly and accommodating. She answered all my MANY questions with patience and in a timely manner. The property managers met us upon arrival and showed us where everything was, told us about the area, and gave us information about fishing and crabbing. This was exactly what we were looking for which was a remote, quiet getaway. If you are looking for a "touristy" place, this is not for you. If you are looking to avoid the traffic, long lines and hassle of "touristy" places then this is the place for you! If you are looking to fish, crab and enjoy time with your family, this is the place for you. The private boat ramp is awesome. The dock was perfect for crabbing and even though there was crab traps provided, I caught so many crabs the first day my husband bought me my own crab traps! There is a few restaurants around but we only visited The Crab Trap and it was pretty good and you can even go on your boat as they have docks out back. We were there for a whole week and while it was semi active on the weekends, we pretty much had the area to ourselves during the week and loved it! We saw dolphins, stingrays, shrimp, blue crab, stone crab, hermit crab, jellyfish, redfish, drum, trout, needlenose gar, frogs, flounder, snakes, eels, herons and sea gulls. My children were engaged and loved every minute of it. It was fun to watch the barges go by and the view was peaceful and relaxing. The only things I wish I could change about Paradise Junction would be more counter space in the kitchen and deeper water off the dock out back. We will definitely go back to Paradise Junction for a relaxing, fishing vacation! Thank you Sheila!
Wow, thanks for the great review! We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Sounds as if you saw more sea creatures than you could shake a fishing pole at! The blue crabs are delicious. Hope you caught a bunch of them!
We are planning to replace the top cabinets soon, and with that, install an over-the-range microwave oven. That should free up more counter space. The canal tends to silt in somewhat, due to the barges on the Intracoastal Waterway. Sorry about that. At high tide, we do get lots of great fish coming though though. The depth of the canal is comparable to that of East Matagorda Bay, so a shallow-draft bay boat is best for fishing in Sargent.
We'd love to have you guys back any time.

Fun on the canal
We had a great time fishing, crabbing and enjoying watching the ships and boats go by. The house was clean but small. But it was sufficient for 2 nights. Our only complaint was that we went to grill fajitas on Sat night only to find the grill not in working order. Luckily the house is right down the street from the Crab Trap restaurant, which was very tasty. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!
So glad to hear that you had a great time watching the barges and the boats go by. That is one of our favorite things to do at Sargent. Great to hear that everyone enjoyed fishing and crabbing at the house despite the grill not working. We will definitely look into replacing it. The Crab Trap was a great alternative, we love it too. Thank you for staying at Paradise Junction.
Very nice and quiet house. We really loved our stay in Sargent. Definitely plan to return back there.
So glad to hear. Thank you for choosing Paradise Junction.
