We offer a relaxing getaway on a waterfront property on beautiful PRIVATE 165 acre Snyder Lake. Since this is a PRIVATE lake, and the only access to the lake is on another residents private property, only watercraft that can be hand carried to the water : small aluminum boats, canoes, paddle boards, or kayaks can be brought and launched off our property. Trailering to our shoreline is not allowed.
Our cottage feature an open floor plan, full bath, enclosed front porch, and two bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a newer Queen sized mattress bed, the other bedroom has 2 twin sized beds. Many windows have views of the lake. Perfect for just one or two couples, or a small family.
In case of rain, we have a huge selection of movies on VHS. From action to comedy, and chick flicks to classics, we have something for everyone. We even have some kids movies.
You can have breakfast in the enclosed front sunroom with wrap around windows for beautiful views of the lake. Sit out on the 30' floating dock and fish or just cool your feet in the water. Bring your binoculars and watch for American Bald Eagles soaring overhead, or scan the waters for the family of Loons which lives on our lake. Downtown Lewiston is only a few miles away where you can find food from fancy (Lewiston Lodge, Rustic Inn, Redwood Steakhouse) to casual (Tally's, The Spot BBQ, Villager, and Iron Kettle), and ice cream for dessert (Buddy's, Country House Ice Cream, and The Hippy Dip).
Come back to the cottage for a campfire and hear the haunting sounds of the Loons as they call back and forth to each other.
If your a Golfer, the famous Garland Golf Course is just minutes away. The natural backdrop of 3,000 acres of unspoiled Michigan wilderness provides a perfect setting for Garland’s four championship golf courses.
Bring your own canoes, paddle boards, or kayaks. Snyder Lakes best swimming is only a short paddle away at the islands south point in the middle of Snyder Lake. Here you will find a nice sandy bottom perfect for wading or swimming. There is also an excellent PUBLIC access beach just minutes away in Lewiston on East Twin Lake, just south of Tally's Log Cabin Bar on Main Street and Co. Road 612.
* Please be sure to stay off the islands interior at all times during the Loons nesting season, or they may abandon the nest. Be sure to maintain a respectful distance from the Loons while on the water as well. Locals are very protective of them and will intercede if they feel you are harassing them. We are very, very lucky to have them return every year for everyones enjoyment.
The lake access road goes almost all around the lake and is perfect for a quick morning jog or walk.
Numerous ORV trailheads are just a short drive away.
Gaylord, Alpena, Traverse City and Mackinaw City are close enough for a great day trip. The Headland International Dark Sky Park is located just south and west of Mackinaw City and the Headlands is the only IDA designated dark sky park in Michigan. The world famous tourist destination, Mackinac Island, is also a short jet ferry ride away from Mackinaw City. You can rent bikes to ride around the whole island, see the 18th century Fort Mackinac, The Grand Hotel, ride in a horse and carriage, literally take a step back into time as no cars are allowed on the island.
