Welcome to Washington's premier outdoor adventure destination. This nicely appointed cabin, built in 2002, is one of the newest in the Pineloch Sun development. At the end of the quietest cul-de-sac in the neighborhood, you will find this little gem - complete with river rock fireplace, Australian Cypress wood floors, high ceiling and open loft area. A generous sized hot tub, backyard hammock and custom picnic table make the outdoor area a special place.
We have owned this cabin since 2007 and 2015 marks the second year of renting it out. Now that our kids are getting more involved with weekend commitments, we do not get as much time to spend at the cabin. We live and work in Bellevue, about 70 miles from the cabin, so even if we cannot spend a full weekend it is nice to get away to the peace and quiet, if only for a night.
Darren Grimstead purchased this cabin in 2007
My wife and I had looked in the greater Cle Elum area for years before settling on this cabin. Having searched the MLS and Craigslist and even visited a couple of cabins, we knew immediately, this was the one. Pineloch sun has everything we were looking for; access to Lake Cle Elum, close to Suncadia, lots of hiking/biking/snowmobiling/motorcycle trails right out our back door, in addition to privacy. It's been everything we hoped for and more.
Location is a key benefit. In addition to being close to everything we love to do, it is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. In the winter Pineloch Sun is a busy snowmobile paradise, yet we are away from the constant hum of sleds heading up the ridge. In 10 minutes you can tee it up at one of Suncadia's fantastic golf courses or have a glass of wine at Swiftwater. If that is not what you are in to, you can head into Roslyn, visit the Mining Museum, or go the other direction and hike out of Salmon La Sac. All in all, we have found this to be the ideal place to both relax, yet remain active as a family.
This is a lovely, quiet cabin up in the hills that offers quick access to hiking trails, swimming holes in Salmon La Sac, Cle Elum Lake, and downtown Roslyn. My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The cabin has everything you need and is quietly secluded away from the activity areas, yet in close proximity to much by car. Darren was a gracious host, offering easy email communication and answering all of my questions. I definitely want to come back again!
We really enjoyed the lake cabin. It was nice and comfortable. We even had a cute little bunny that hung around the property. The owner was very nice and so willing to assist us with our needs. The surrounding cabins were very quiet. We barbecued every night. As usual in most places we struggled with bees. The family really liked the hot tub. We wished we could of played horseshoes-there were pits but no horseshoes in the back area. My husband sat at the picnic area in the same location playing his guitar. The balcony was nice overlooking the back area. The location to surrounding lakes and towns made it very accessible. The kids really enjoyed watching movies and playing the Wii games. Being able to have meals in saved us a lot of money. It was a bummer due to the burn ban that we could not use the fire pit and fire place was down. It really was not a total number loss since temperature was between 90-98 degrees outside. The family was sad to leave but we greatly appreciate the opportunity to share this experience together before our daughter goes to college. She said she really liked the nice cabin.
We were in WA for our son's endurance race in Easton and shuttled back and forth. Great accommodations for my wife and I and our 33 year old son. Downstairs bedroom has a queen bed with powder room. Upstairs had two double beds - pretty much all you need is there. Darren was thoughtful and very responsive to questions before arriving. Rosalyn is about 10 mins away - a cute, quiet little town from mining days. Cle Elum is about 20 mins away and had everything you could need. Access to many hikes in the area, including some one for strolling that follows the Ronald-Rosalyn-Cle Elum road.
I enjoyed this rental with my wife and children ages 9 and 6. We were generally unfamiliar with the area and booked it based on the photos, reviews, and proximity to our home.
Prior to our arrival: The owner Darren provided a thorough and (helpfully) exhaustive email detailing directions to, the use of, and surroundings of the cabin. We felt completely prepared for our trip. The email demonstrated to us the owner's focus on customer service for renters. He was not going to be personally available during some of our stay and he went so far as to provide us with two alternate contacts to ensure we had uninterrupted assistance if needed (which we did not).
At the Cabin: We enjoyed the well kept hot tub daily. The owner had freshly changed the water prior to our arrival. It seemed as though most every detail had been forecasted. If we needed a replacement battery for the Wii system (provided by the owner) we didn't have to run out, there were batteries available. There were ample towels and comfortable bedding. My kids enjoyed the aforementioned Wii video game system and selection of family movies which gave my wife and I time to ourselves when needed.
Outside of the cabin: Immediately outside the cabin, the neighborhood of surrounding cabins were quiet and friendly during our stay. The provided hammock, horseshoe set, and cornhole boards were also great. Five minutes away from the cabin is the beautiful Lake Cle Elum. My opinion is that there is not much on the internet about its merits because those who know about it wish to keep it out of the public eye. It is a fantastic gem of the region. For those with four wheel drive, you can drive to the water's edge and enjoy the scenic lake in whatever manner you wish. You could put a boat, jet ski, canoe, or kayak in the water, or just relax on the sandy beach.
The surrounding towns of Cle Elum and Roslyn are lovely and have whatever you might need. The restaurants in Roslyn should not be passed by. Our favorite destination when away from the cabin was the Cooper River. There are some amazing swimming holes, cliff jumping areas, and general fun to be had in various areas on the river.
We would definitely come back to this cabin to take advantage of the variety of multi-seasonal activities afforded by this cabin's location, intrinsic comfort, and beauty.
We were so surprised and happy with the privacy we felt when we pulled up to this beautiful cabin. The inside was clean and well thought out. We played plenty of bags with our two boys in back and felt instantly at home. Amenities were plentiful, the grill was spotless, and Darren was so prompt at answering any questions. The only thing that perhaps could have used some improvement was if the hot tub could have been maintained better, but really not much of an issue. Rosalyn was close and we so enjoyed getting to know this quaint town. Thank you to Darren for sharing this dreamy cabin with our family and also for a quick refund of our deposit. Our boys are really missing that awesome loft!
My fiancee and I found and booked this cabin for our reunion. It was our first time using this site, but the owner Darren was quick to reply and walked us through the transaction. The information he provided us before our arrival was very helpful and much appreciated.
The cabin itself was easy to find, despite it being our first time in Washington. There are several cabins nearby, but you definitely still feel secluded and have enough privacy to relax and unwind. Since we were only 2, we used the master suite on the main floor which had a very comfortable bed and ensuite. The cabin is well-appointed and has all the amenities you could want. We spent the mornings enjoying our coffee, and evenings grilling some outstanding meats on the BBQ on the front deck (do yourself a favor and take the owners suggestion to stop by Owen's Meats for supplies).
There was a fire ban while we were there, so we weren't able to take advantage of the fire pit, but we did get lots of use out of the hot tub and loved the ambiance and the lighting. The whole place was spotlessly clean, except for a little dog hair on the quilts, which didn't bother us at all.
We got out to explore quite a bit during the days and were amazed at the selection of restaurants, little pubs and stores within 10-15 minutes drive. The number of swimming spots and camping areas was also great. The drought meant that lake levels were so low you could actually drive on the dry lake bed out to the water's edge and set up right there. We also rented inflatables and got a tip from the owner of that store to try Cooper Lake, which was quiet and amazing for floating around all day. Some great spots for non-swimmers as well. We grabbed the folding chairs from the cabin, loaded up the cooler and found a perfect place just off the road to Salmon-La-Sac to drop our chairs and feet in the river and soak up the sun all day. We took another of Darren's suggestions and on our last day stopped at the Swiftwater Cellars Winery for lunch and some delightful wines. Food was the best we had on the trip (except the 1lb of Owen's Meat beef jerky we ate in our first 2 days hehe). Good spot for any golfers who may want to shoot a round nearby.
Overall we were very impressed with the cabin, the owner and the area. Will be back for sure!
P.S. Beware the upstairs door! We locked ourselves out by mistake and I had to climb down the side of the cabin. All part of the adventure!
