Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
The condo does have a nice location. It is rather small but we knew that. But the furniture ruined the entire experience. First the couch/"futon". My wife and I always look for places that have a least two beds. I snore and she talks in her sleep so we usually sleep in separate rooms. The advertisement said "sleeps four", indicating there are two beds. The second "bed" here is the couch/"futon". Not only was this futon impossible to sleep on, it was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever sat on. Don't know how old it is, but it is so beat down it sags on the two end and has a prominent wooden bar across the middle. One of us had to sleep on the floor each night. The eating table is worthless. If you set it up there is no room left in the condo. I could not sit on the chairs associated with this table for fear of breaking them.
We got an email and a phone number to call in case we had any issues. I emailed, no response. Day two, I called (they said 24/7) and got a message. I left a message but got ZERO response.
Could hardly wait to leave.
Pros: one block walk to beach, very short walk to the lovely downtown with shops and restaurants, hassle free check in, plenty of space for an individual retreat, although it was much smaller than it looked in the pictures. Fireplace (but headsup, it does not burn real wood). Shower and tub. Removable shower head. A ledge at the top of the shower so my soap holder did not get filled with water (!) Coat closet and space near door for wet shoes. Decent kitchen setup in terms of having the basics. Privacy hedge in front that blocked some of the fairly minimal traffic noise. Plenty of counter space in the bathroom.
Cons: Pet urine smell upstairs in hall and bedroom. It was not very strong but I will probably not stay in a pet-friendly place again. There was an unexpected issue with the roof that required the owner and repair guys to need brief access (5 minutes) to the bedroom on the first full day of my stay and they worked on the roof maybe an hour. The property manager gave me a headsup the day before, but it was disruptive to my personal retreat. There was not enough room to have the kitchen table and the coffee table setup at the same time which was unfortunate. This made the TV trays essential. Frying pan needed washing (had smeared goo on it), knives cruddy (caked on gunk) and very dull.
Lesson Learned: I will probably not stay in a pet friendly place in the future. :)
If you're looking for a nice, peaceful and comfortable getaway to Cannon Beach, this is not it. If all you've ever known of vacationing is a hotel or motel, than this is a step up, but not by much. We stayed in unit #2 which is situated between two other units. The 2nd day we were there, a family with very young children checked in and were constantly running around, creating so much noise, the people from the unit on the other side from us banged on our wall, undoubtedly believing we were making all the ruckus.
What is described as a pull out hide a bed couch is actually a fold out futon. I have literally never experienced a more uncomfortable piece of furniture to sit on let alone try to sleep on. And if you like sleeping in the dark until your alarm goes off, forget it. There are no blinds to cover the top part of the large window. The other issue with regard to noise is within the unit itself. For whatever reason, there is a hole in the wall separating the stairs and the bedwroom which is covered by a screen door so any noise that's made downstairs is easily heard upstairs.
As for customer service, we couldn't get the internet to work on the TV upstairs in the bedroom and when we called to report the issue (along with the issue about the noisy kids), the lady was very nice and understanding, but absolutely nothing got done about it. We got no return phone call, no one in person, no response at all.
Although the location is easily within walking distance of just about anything you'd like, don't let the pictures fool you - there is no view of the beach. You're on the major thoroughfare of the city - Hemlock Street. Close for walking to the beach, but not close enough to see it from the room.
Sorry, we won't be back.
We loved staying at this Vacasa town home. It was conveniently located, clean, and pet friendly. We will definitely return!
Very pet friendly. Love that they leave towels for them to use and some treats. Very quiet area at night. You'll get a good sleep. It's the perfect size for 2 people and your pet. Situated close to the beach for easy access to the water and also walking distance to little shops and restaurants.
