Naturally I was worried when a Category 4 hurricane hit the Outer Banks on Labor Day weekend, we had visions of a ruined family getaway. Thankfully when our family of eight arrived we found the cabin quite well appointed & comfortable to wait out the rain. We walked over to the Marina next door & found the restaurant was good as advertised, my wife & I especially liked the clam corn chowder. Everyone left satisfied. Unfortunately due to the weather, not many boats came by but we took it in stride & enjoyed the peace & quiet. Luckily for us the weather broke Sunday & we went out to the Banks to scope the lighthouses, all of which were fantastic. It really worked out well for us as traffic was minimal & the sun actually came out to ensure great photography. We also took the opportunity to travel throughout Manteo, Duck, Corolla and of course, the Wright Bros. memorial. The ladies had fun shopping & even the kids were happy. Each night the house was a welcome refuge with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The WIFI worked & the basic necessities sufficed. Louis was friendly & his dog always ready to play! I can see where a table would be of benefit as others have said. We would definitely come back, maybe try and focus on some watersports as we surely met the lighthouse quota. My family thanks you for a great vacation. Highly recommended!
This cottage had all the accommodations that we were looking for and the special bonus street was the incredible marina restaurant next-door. Best meals of our vacation! I would recommend this to anyone looking for an experience on the intercoastal waterway. We had a lovely family adventure.
This property was really nice and HUGE! We needed a rental that provided lots of room, and allowed pets AND a partial week rental - which is practically impossible to find in the Outer Banks area in the middle of the summer. Landed on this place, and it worked out really good to stay here and eat meals, then take the 30 minute drive to the beach. Additionally, we ended up having car troubles while on vacation, and were unable to leave by the 10:00 check out time that is the norm. The owner was nice enough to let us stay as long as we needed that day since we were having issues, and we didn't leave until 1:00 pm. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay a few extra hours during our crisis!! I can guarantee that if were staying anywhere else that we would have had to leave and sit outside in the heat with all of our stuff for a few hours. This place was the best, and I can't recommend it enough. The only downside was that there wasn't a kitchen table to eat meals at, and the amount of pots, pans and other cooking utensils weren't the best but we made due the best we could.
Overall we had a great time in Coinjock. The house is very large and we had plenty of room. All the staff on the site were very friendly and helpful. Watching the yachts pull in & out was amazing. The location is convenient because the beach is only a short drive. The kids loved seeing Gravediggers home. The only drawback is there is no table to sit & eat at.
We rented this house for our fishing trip. We had a great time. Very convenient. Boat ramp only 1 mile away. Marina and Restaurant on same property as house. Food and service at Restaurant was very good. We really enjoyed watching Yachts dock right in front of house. Owner was on site at Marina and was super nice. We will definitely be staying here again.
We really enjoyed the late night fishing at the dock and also the evening BBQ. Place is affordable and owner is flexible about check in times. They have a restaurant/bar and a gift store at the same compound. Owner and the staffs are very friendly. Nearest beach (Kitty Hawk) is around 30 mins drive from this place and the Sand dunes at Jockey's Ridge State Park is another 15 mins drive from Kitty Hawk. You'll have the basic facilities needed for a decent home. We had a very relaxed stay here.
