We arrived late and found it convenient that the key was left in a lockbox at the property. We liked the layout of the property, the fireplace, and the fact that apple trees on the property were bearing fruit. The kitchen allowed us to purchase groceries and cook our meals at the rental instead of eating out, and the location was convenient to the things we wanted to see.
All in all the property was perfect for what we were after.
The driveway is a little steep and while my AWD SUV made it up ok, the front wheel drive and 4WD vehicles slipped quite a bit. Be aware that making it up the driveway isn't so simple, especially if you come at a time of year where it's likely to be snowy or icy.
My family of 2 parents, 8 kids (3 of which are married with a couple kids) came to this lovely cabin to celebrate my father's 60th birthday. We had 12 adults and two toddlers and had plenty of space! It is in a great location in Banner Elk, close to Boone and very close to some lovely hikes and swimming holes. Most of our time was spent hiking, but we loved hanging out on the porch in the evenings and mornings.
Minor issues: the driveway was a pain, a few of the lamps don't work, the loft ceiling fan needs to be fixed, and the wifi was spotty at times, but otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay!
Stayed with my husband and 3 friends for a long weekend, the house is beautiful, plenty of room for all of us with space for several more if we had needed it. We really enjoyed our time there. Would definitely consider staying here again if we're ever back in the mountains. Only FYI if staying here is that the driveway is very steep so keep that in mind if you're not used to driving in the mountains. Thank you!
We stayed with four couples for a weekend of white water rafting. The cabin was wonderful and the owners and rental company were great to work with. The cabin has so much room in it and the loft has two queen sleeping beds and a twin with a full bath! We would love to rent this cabin again on our next trip to Banner Elk. It was a beautiful property!
The house suited our needs with the 4 bedrooms. Needed a full bath in the bedroom in the basement. Was poorly equipped in the kitchen. No TV downstairs. No TV in the bedrooms on the main floor. We will not rent this one again.
