Great Place to get away from it all!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is quaint, but adorable. Very clean and comfortable. Although it is rustic, it has everything you need, coffee maker, heat/ac, hot water (and plenty of it), etc. Ronnie was very friendly and helpful. A+

Unfortunate Circumstances

  • 2 of 5

Booked a 3 night stay for my fiancé's birthday over New Year's. Very cute cabin. Nice property. Unfortunately, they had a water leak which drained their entire water tank, so no running water. Friday night was fine. No water Saturday but other cabins and the lodge were starting to get water back by the end of the day, so we figured we'd hang in there to see if we had water Sunday morning to shower, wash dishes, flush the toilet, etc. Nope. Ronnie, who did everything he could to resolve the water issue, tried to let us shower in the lodge, but they ran out of hot water and he had no idea how long it would take to replenish. We ended up leaving a day early. We understood that it wasn't their fault, but we also paid for a cabin with running water. When we arrived home early, everyone asked why and said, "That's too bad. They gave you your money back right?" No. Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but two days later, not even an apology, let alone any kind of credit. Not good customer service by the owners in our opinion.

Wonderful Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for our first Christmas together this year and we loved it. The cabin was what I expected and what is described, its simple but comfortable. Ron was amazingly helpful and was very good at checking in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. If you are looking for a quiet mountain getaway to escape from the city life, I highly recommend the cabins at Paxton Lodge!

Tranquil -- Ample History

  • 4 of 5

I wasn't entirely sure what to anticipate with this vacation home without any photos of the interior. The interior doesn't leave much to the imagination, very small, studio with the usual 'rustic' décor. However, this really wasn't important compared to the pluses attributed to the property.

Upon arriving I was greeted by the property supervisor who had a cabin within walking distance of my cabin. He was immensely helpful and made suggestions of local hiking trails and where to purchase groceries (Quincy!) the property was well heated and clean. I had my own small front yard with a BBQ -- fantastic!

The location itself is right on the river and near the train tracks. I love trains so being able to watch them roll by was great. The grounds also have an extended history which was outlined in a binder in the cabin. However, the description is dead on. If you want something besides isolation make sure you stop before you get to Paxton.

No frills but everything you need. Would stay again!

Quiet getaway in the mountains.

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at the cabin for a week. The property manager Ronnie was very helpful to all my needs. Cabin was very clean and inviting. I had all the privacy I wanted and a very hospitable neighbor that was a full time resident. Beautiful little beach with chairs and shade provided. Will definitely return next year.
