About Doug and Stephanie

Our family loves the outdoors, hiking, biking, skiing, musicals and riding ATV's. Our dad hopes to teach us to fly fish someday. This cabin is his mid-life crisis or his dream come true.

Doug and Stephanie purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Doug and Stephanie chose Duck Creek Village

This is what happens when your friends invite you to their cabin. We fell in love with this awesome place and we think you would love the proximity to so many wonderful sites. Southern Utah is one of the most unique places on earth. Plus our friends were able to purchase another cabin nearby. It is nice and cool during the summer and gets plenty of snow during the winter yet it is accessible year round. A place our family can unplug from the world and experience family time together.

What makes this cabin unique

This is a luxury custom cabin on 1.5 acres of land. The master has a king size bed and jetted tub in the bathroom. The guest rooms each have two queen beds. It is one of the few cabins on the mountain that has air conditioning. The large free standing gas fireplace is the centerpiece of the cabin. The loft houses two bedrooms and also has a large area for TV and play area. A comfortable wrap around porch covers 3/4 of the cabin with an outside grill. The driveway is easy to navigate.

Magnificent Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at this little piece of paradise! It is really a beautiful home and it is well stocked (and well organized) with everything you need. We recommend it as a base to visit Zion and Bryce.

Owner's Response: We try to keep it organized and have labeled drawers and cupboards so that it will be easy to return things to the correct drawers and cabinets. We are glad that you felt like it was a little piece of paradise we truly believe that as well. Find the hidden treasures of Duck Creek by hiking the local hikes as well.

Perfect Central Location to National Parks!

  • 5 of 5

I am so grateful that we opted to stay in this beautiful mountain retreat. My family of 5 started by flying into Phoenix and driving to the Grand Canyon. During that time, we were squeezed into an overpriced, tiny hotel room adjacent to the park. We couldn't even open all of our luggage at the same time it was so small. The food choices were dismal. While we still greatly enjoyed the beauty of the Grand Canyon, it was tough to come back to that hotel each night.

Thankfully, to explore Bryce Canyon and Zion, we checked out of that hotel and into this fabulous home! It was so refreshing to be able to spread out, have multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, and the ability to cook our own meals. The drive to each park (about one hour) was easy and pretty. Because we were driving from the Grand Canyon, we stopped at the Safeway in Page, Arizona to stock up on groceries before coming to the cabin. You definitely want to do that, as there really aren't many food options in the area.

My husband and I have both traveled extensively for work, and can be "travel snobs" when it comes to our accommodations. This cabin exceeded our expectations. It was very clean, the decor was great, and the attention to detail the owners put into it is the best we have ever encountered (and we've rented a lot from VRBO). We decided to take a break from the parks one day and rented ATVs in the tiny town of Duck Creek Village. It was a blast!

We did eat dinner one night at Cafe Adobe (on route 89 between Bryce and the cabin). It was excellent Mexican food about 20 minutes from the cabin. If you are considering renting this place, I would not hesitate to do it!

This is the most scenic and luxurious cabin we have ever stayed at.

  • 5 of 5

We have been renting cabins and condos for years. We have never stayed at a place like this. It is in perfect condition. The kitchen was stocked better than our home kitchen. The furnishings are beautiful. The location is perfect for access to Bryce, Zions, Brian Head. Everything was wonderful.

Owner's Response: We are glad that you enjoyed our cabin so much. It is central to the great National Parks only 49 minutes to Bryce and 60 to Zion. As a reminder there are great local hikes as well just minutes from the front door. Some favorites are Mammoth Caves, Ice Cave, Strawberry Point and boating on Navajo Lake.

Beautiful! Beautiful!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time while staying at Doug & Stephanie's place. Not only was the cabin beautiful and inviting, it's very well equipped with kitchen supplies. Such a great location in Duck Creek Village. High enough elevation for snow to still be on the ground and yet both parks were warm with little snow. We will definitely be back!!!!

Owner's Response: The cabin is about 8,000 ft elevation making a cool summer get away and for the winter a place for snow adventures. The kitchen has labels to put back all supplies in the correct drawers and cabinets making clean up quicker. We are delighted that you were able to visit both National Parks during your visit.

Paradise Lodge is Paradise Indeed!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Paradise Lodge with our two children (8 and almost 5). Before we even arrived, I had emailed Stephanie with a lot of questions about the area, and she responded to everything very quickly and thoroughly.

When we checked in, there was a significant amount of snow in Duck Creek, but the cabin was warm, comfortable, and inviting. The heating system is brand new and very easy to use, and the fireplace was very warm as well. The master bed is crazy comfortable, and gave me the best night's sleep I've had in ages. The kitchen is well stocked with good quality items (no horribly scratched cookware or utensils that have seen better days as you sometimes find in rentals), and everything you could want or need to prepare a good meal. You'll definitely want to pick up groceries before you come--we stopped at Costco in St. George (we brought our cooler), and Smith's in Cedar City.

Our kids loved everything about the cabin. There were tons of games around the cabin, with many games geared to their age range, so they were thrilled. They also loved the recliners and TV in the loft.

The one day we didn't get measurable snow, we spent a few hours at beautiful Bryce Canyon National Park. It was less than an hour away. Zion National Park is a little over an hour away, and Cedar Breaks is close as well. The cabin is a great location--far enough from everything to truly "get away", but close enough to see a lot of incredible parks. The night sky was also amazing...great for star gazing and would be incredible during the meteor showers.

With as much snow as we received, there were a few little things I had to text Stephanie about, and she either called or texted within minutes. And, on the morning we were supposed to check out, we found out highway 14 was closed and the plow had not yet cleared our driveway so we were stuck, and Stephanie and Doug allowed us to stay at the cabin for another night free of charge. We were so grateful, and the whole time they just went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful trip. It was one of the best vacations we've ever had.

We highly recommend Paradise Lodge, and hope to return soon!

Owner's Response: You experienced the largest snow storm in 7 years on the mountain. It was massive! You were in the middle of the Greatest Snow on Earth with 50" as the total fall and patient as the weather created a few mountain snow experiences! So glad you were able to use UTDOT app to find roads that were open for your travels.
