About Casa Isabelle

We are from the Midwest. My wife grew up on a farm and I grew up in NYC before moving to the Midwest when I was about 22 years old. We are raising our only daughter to appreciate life and other cultures. We have been married for 15 years and most recently decided to invest in a home in Tulum.

Casa Isabelle purchased this condo in 2014

Guestbook comments from the manager

Great condo. Has everything you need to make an easy stay. Great location, close to town and beach. We had a rental car ad there was ample parking. I would recommend a rental car. The condo and development were very secure. Communication was fantastic with owner and he offers great tips and advice. Highly recommend!

VRBO Bear stayed here

Apr 10, 2017

Casa Isabelle was truly a breath of fresh air for the Bear and his friends as they explored Tulum. The property is conveniently located in the Aldea Zama residential development just minutes away from all sorts of activities that Tulum has to offer. We took a short drive north to the heart of downtown Tulum where we found great food, music, shopping and people watching. When we headed towards the beach we experienced a breathtaking view of the water with more food and culture to explore. The condominium served as a meeting and resting place for all of us after a day and/or night full of activities. We could rest in the air-conditioned comfort of the condominium, prepare meals in the kitchen, sit on one of the two patios to enjoy the sunset or go for a relaxing evening swim in the pool. This bear has already begun to tell his family, friends and colleagues that Tulum is a must see and that Casa Isabelle is the place to stay and enjoy all it has to offer!

Great Find & Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time exploring the area and this condo was centrally located to everything we wanted to do. We used it as a launch pad to visit Playa del Carmen and had two great dinners there. We also visited Cozumel which was easy to get to from Tulum. You can even get a shuttle & ticket combination right from Tulum. We also enjoyed staying at Mia Beach Club as part of day pass arrangement with the owner. Owners had told us that they had purchased new furniture so we didn't know what to expect when we arrived. The living room sofa set is super comfortable and the three pieces were great for our family. They also had the most gorgeous wood table in the living room. Rick was great to work with. He called me twice before we arrived and followed up to see how things were going while we were there. We really enjoyed our stay and Casa Isabelle.

Mexico Vacation

  • 4 of 5

The owner and manager was good to work with. It had a very nice pool area and the condo was well maintained. I wouldn't advise anyone to vist this area in the months of June or July, the beach area has alot of algae this time of year. But this is one of our favorite places to visit, this was our third visit to Tulum.

Development was stunning!

  • 3 of 5

The development and surroundings are beautiful. The condo itself is nice but it was not a perfect stay for us since we encounter several nights without air conditioning due to a leak in the a/c unit. We came back to the condo exhausted from a day of fun filled activities, only to mop a large poddle of water on the floor caused by the a/c unit. Yes it was taken care of a couple of days after it was reported but we were not counting on hot nights and dealing with a bucket in the bedroom to collect the drops of water coming out of the ac unit. We received a bottle of hornitos liquor for the inconvenience. The bottle was left behind since we didn't care for alcohol. The sofa in the living room is outdoor wicker furniture, so not comfortable AT ALL! The toilet in the master bedroom needed to be reset several times so the tank could refill with water. There is no cable so we couldnt enjoy a movie night. Not the positive experience I was hoping for but a learning experience to ask the right questions and obtain details of the unit itself upon my next reservation of another's vacation home rental. The property manager was helpful by assisting with our missing luggage caused by the airline. We appreciate her for that!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. I am glad you enjoyed all the local activities. I am sorry about the issue with Air conditioner. According to our property manager a tube that allows water to escape somehow became clogged. Yes, I have been told that the sofa in the living room is not very comfortable. We plan on replacing that in July when we arrive. Again, thanks for staying with us.

Casa Isabelle Review

  • 3 of 5

Tulum is a wonderful town and we had a wonderful time. This was our 4th time in the area and our first time staying at Casa Isabelle. There were some things I really liked about the property and some things not so much. I will try to give an unbiased review so others can make an informative decision about choosing to stay at this property.

1. The owner was great and communicated with me quickly and efficiently leading up to and during the course of the stay.

2. The location in Aldea Zama is ideal (halfway between the center of town and the beach). You will still need a car but that is pretty necessary wherever you stay in Tulum with the exception of the beach road.

3. The pool at the complex is great, especially if you have little kids as it has a sectioned off shallow end.

4. The air-conditioners and the wifi in the complex work really well.

5. Having a washer/dryer in the condo was convenient.

1. The furniture, particularly the couch, felt very cheap and was super uncomfortable. The bed mattresses were very firm, which I didn't have a problem with as I am a fairly small human but my boyfriend did not like them at all.

2. If you stay here, make sure you pick up drinking water for brushing teeth etc. on the way there, as they do not provide it. This was the first condo I've ever stayed at in Mexico where it was not provided.

It is important to note on the last night we were there, the neighbors above us were having a party until about 5AM. They are locals and it is was a holiday, so I understand that, but it woke everyone in the condo up at about 4 AM. There is very little sound proofing between the condos.

Overall, this place was nice but I probably wouldn't stay there again. None of the things I pointed out ruined our vacation by any means, it is just personal preference.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your honest review Samantha. I am very glad you stayed at our place and that you enjoyed the area. We are definitely located in a convenient location and offer up a very nice condo at competitive prices. Let me respond to just a few of the aforementioned concerns. I am sorry that you did not find the mattresses comfortable. Firmness is a very personal thing and I have actually heard from other guests that commented on how much they liked our mattresses. As for the noise in another unit; that is unfortunate and of course out of my control. These condos are privately owned and we certainly cannot dictate to other owners that they are not allowed to have people over. This is especially true of holidays where things can get noisy in Mexico. And yes, noise does travel, mostly due to the fact that everything is made of concrete. You mentioned that there was no water in the unit. I checked with my manager and she assured me there was water in the unit. I did email you prior to your arrival to let you know that we do provide water upon check-in and that the Chedraui Super market was conveniently located by the entrance in case you wanted to do some additional grocery shopping. I will speak with my manager about leaving more water bottles based on the length of stay. Although I would have wished for a better rating I do appreciate the feedback and we will try to anticipate the needs of our future guests so that we may continue to offer up quality and economical accommodations.

Great condo! Sunny, perfect for my family of 3, beautiful pool, and a great retreat from the beach or town. Rent a car or a bike, then you’re just 5 minutes away from lots of fun :-) Have questions? Rosy, Djanna, and Rick were all very helpful.
