Lovely home in a gorgeous setting

  • 5 of 5

Spent three nights here for a family reunion. 12 adults ALL loved the property! Took a few treks to the mountain stream, viewed the stars from the deck (saw a shooting star!) watched the mountain continuously "change" it's beauty as the sun moved across the sky. The only thing I didn't see was a rainbow!

The home and kitchen is FULLY equipped with anything you need!

Beautiful hangout spot for a big family

  • 4 of 5

The house was an incredible "venue" for preparing for my wedding at Wild Basin Lodge down the road. The Wild Basin was about a 10 minute walk from the house, but you do need to cross a highway. My immediate family and I stayed in the house (9 adults & 3 toddlers) and there was plenty of space for everyone as well as things to entertain the little ones such as the play house outside and the short hike to the river. We were allowed to host a rehearsal lunch at the house and made great use of the beautiful deck, ample indoor seating area, and completely stocked kitchen which made it all possible. The owner was so warm, accommodating and responsive. She was a pleasure to chat with and just a genuinely nice person, but we were surprised to find that she lives directly in front of the vacation rental and is very attentive to the property. We generally felt there was somewhat limited privacy given that there were no curtains on any of the windows (including bathroom and bedroom windows) and two occupied houses in close proximity. While I personally adored the two puppies who would visit frequently, we had some problems with them jumping on the kids and with visitors who are allergic to dogs. I personally think the house was perfect for its purpose, but for a secluded mountain get away, I think many of our guests and other family members had come upon houses which better served this purpose.

Owner's Response: We do not hide the fact that there are two homes on our 16 plus acres of property. They are about 1/2 a block apart. Plus the front property faces west and the back property faces south where all the outdoor activity goes on. There is also a 6 foot picket fence, a large garage/storage building and a row of trees between the back of the front property and the west side of the back property. Both cabins have their own drives and noise really can not be heard from one property to the other. At Tranquility there is frosted glass on the down stairs bathroom so unless the window is open there is not any visibility and the window is a good 10 foot off the ground. The master bath only has a small narrow window over the shower/tub and it is a good 15 foot off the ground. Both of the windows are hidden by a large Garage in a private area . The up stairs bath is over the garage and really is not visible to the parking area unless you were really searching for the bathroom window. I will have a valance on that one before next summer. We will consider some pull down shades for the master bedroom. Most people come to the Rocky Mt. to see them. Therefore we feel that curtains obstruct the views from the windows. Tranquility is so high and far off the road you would need binoculars to see into the house. I agree that the puppies did bother this group and as soon as we were informed of the fact we chained them up. However, everyone else has enjoyed the puppies very much and said to us they were a bonus to their vacation. We are very responsive to all the needs or requests of our guest. Also we certainly are not offended over preferences, however we need to be informed as quickly as possible.

Peaceful and beautiful property!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a weekend at this beautiful property with a group of friends and it was incredible. Jeanie and Charles were very helpful and welcoming. Everyone had such a nice time and was impressed with the comfort and beauty of the home. We loved the views from the deck and watching all the humming birds visit the flowers all around the deck. The river was a huge hit too since the weather was so nice. We absolutely recommend this property!!!!

Breathtaking view!

  • 5 of 5

Wow what a wonderful time-There were 15 of us, including two toddlers. There was more than enough space. The house has lots of room and an incredible deck to view the mountains. The rushing creek below was a wonderful sound-especially at night. Allenspark is far enough away from the hub-bub of Estest Park, but an easy drive to get there. Nice to come home and sit on the deck and relax. The owners are great! The flowers and landscaping are wonderful-you can tell they take great care of their place. Best part- right across the street you will find Rocky Mountain Park!!. Memories for ever!

Wonderful mountain retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 along with a grandbaby had a fabulous time at this home! We use VRBO a lot for family vacations and my family said this was the best place we have ever stayed at! Everything was perfect!! The deck was such a big hit - the views of the mountains, trees, flowers, hummingbirds were amazing. You can even see the stars outside your bedroom window at night!!! We slept with the windows opened and heard the river flowing every night. We have traveled to Estes Park on several occasions; this home is close enough to town and to all the favorite hiking spots yet far enough away to feel like you are in a secluded area. We would love to come back!!
