About the property

Studio, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2

We remodeled the hayloft of our 1870 carriage house into a self-contained studio apartment. You have your own entrance on a charming alley just off lively Warren Street.

The bright, vaulted, space has a queen-size bed with Tempurpedic mattress, a comfortable carpeted sitting area, a kitchenette and dining area, and a writing table. There’s a blue-tooth music dock, and a whole-house surge protector to keep your devices safe. There's a whole-house water filter, too. You’ll appreciate the great cross ventilation, but there’s air conditioning, too. The kitchenette has refrigerator, sink, microwave and cooktop. You’ll find what you need for making coffee and tea, plus something for your first breakfast sourced from our wonderful local producers.

SPECIAL WEEKLY RATE of $750, for weeks beginning any day Sunday through Friday. (No Saturday starts for this rate.) Call or email to discuss.

Hudson is an amazing destination, two hours from New York City by car or train (with 12 trains each way every day). It’s a walkable miniature city of historic architecture, antiques, art and design galleries, performance events both sophisticated and edgy, and great food. The town overlooks the magnificent Hudson River and Catskill Mountains, and is surrounded by the bucolic landscapes of Columbia County. Historic house museums, country walks and charming villages are all within a few minutes’ drive.

Cherry Alley Studio is just steps from all of Hudson’s shops, restaurants and clubs, and a ten minute walk from the Amtrak station. We’ll leave you notes on our favorite places to eat, shop and visit.

We live right across the yard. We’re here if you need us, but won’t bother you if you don’t. It’s your vacation — enjoy it in luxurious privacy.

About Jonathan Lerner

I'm a magazine editor and writer specializing in architecture and design, and travel. My partner is a photo stylist for interiors magazines and furniture catalogues. Being very experienced travelers, we've stayed in all kinds of places. So we've had lots of opportunity to discover what we appreciate in a lodging: thoughtful design, lack of fussiness, helpful attitude and privacy.

Why Jonathan Lerner chose Hudson Valley

We moved from another historic house a few blocks away in Hudson. This property appealed to us because it is a typical 19th century vernacular townhouse. The former stable building in back, where the studio apartment is located, is a very common building type along Hudson's alleys — although few of them have been renovated to this degree. We also loved the central location. Right now we're living in and renovating the front house, and establishing a garden.

Great Studio Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

The Cherry Alley Studio completely met our expectations. It was very spacious for two people and very clean and had a cool, modern look. the apartment is very convenient to everything as well. I have already recommended it a couple of friends. The owner, Jonathan, was very responsive and easy to work with. Great time in Hudson!

My wife and I had a great stay! We came to Hudson to relax and celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and definitely picked the right place. We will absolutely return and highly recommend the cherry Allen studio.

Lovely weekend get-away in Hudson!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in Cherry Alley Studio for the first time last weekend and loved this comfortable, cozy and quiet get-away apartment! The studio is only one block off of Warren, the main street with shops and restaurants in Hudson, so walking to everything was just a step away. Since we weren't actually on Warren (which we've learned can get pretty busy sometimes at night) we got an awesome nights sleep each night there. The studio was immaculate, the bed extremely comfortable and the owners could not have been more helpful before our arrival, even leaving fresh cherries, coffee and tea makings + granola and milk, all which was perfect for a late night 2am snack ,without the bother of having to go anywhere. I would highly recommend this property!

Wonderful studio in a perfect location for everything Hudson has to offer

  • 5 of 5

We chose this location on a whim, fairly last minute, and Jonathan was very responsive from our first inquiry e-mail to the quick return of our deposit while we were still driving home (!). While our hosts made it clear that they were available to help with anything we might need need during our stay, they were totally respectful of our privacy. They even provided us with some local treats for our first breakfast, as well as some coffee to brew. The studio was clean and cool (nice A/C during a very hot week!), and the bed was super comfy. There is no TV there, but I think that actually motivated us to get out and about more, and I was grateful for the rare lack of constant background noise. The carriage house-turned-studio was completely unattached and across the yard from the main house, so we never had to worry about bothering anyone when stumbling home at night. Speaking of which, if you like stumbling home at night, there are plenty of nearby eating and drinking establishments (generally overpriced, but hey, it's vacation...) within walking distance. The Cherry Alley studio is basically in the middle of Hudson, so you can walk or drive down to the river or up and down the Warren St. area to explore other shops and restaurants. We had no trouble finding parking. We brought bicycles too, but didn't need them at all to get around locally. Jonathan and Peter were excellent hosts, and I would recommend the Cherry Alley Studio as a great home base for exploring the Hudson Valley!

Pictures don't do it justice

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Cherry Alley Studio for 3 nights and it is the perfect launching pad to check out Hudson, NY. Not only is it conveniently located close to Warren Street but it is comfortable, clean and quiet with refined finishes and unique furniture. The owners are also very friendly and accommodating. They picked us up at the train station and provided delicious coffee and breakfast. I was very happy with the studio and highly recommend it.
