About Peggy Friar and Bernie Smith
The house and surrounding area hold a lot of memories for Bernie and Peggy growing up. Our parents built the house in 1972 as a summer cottage and lived there year-round after they retired. Pine Point is a special place for us and we hope it will be for our guests.
Peggy Friar and Bernie Smith purchased this Cottage in 1972
Why Peggy Friar and Bernie Smith chose Pine Point
Its the location! Proximity to a sandy beach, a working harbor, the Scarborough Marsh and more. Our family fell in love with Pine Point after moving back to Maine from Arizona back in 1964. Ralph and Kay Smith, our parents, built there dream cottage here and we have been here ever since.
What makes this Cottage unique
Our cottage is a true Maine seaside cottage with pine-paneling and a loft inside to the large picture window overlooking the town pier. We have easy access to beaches, the Scarborough Marsh, bike and kayak rentals nearby, fishing charters, and more. For those who want to relax, we have sunbathing on the deck or beach, bird watching (or people watching), or just sitting on the pier with a fishing rod.

Charming Pine Point Cottage
We enjoyed hanging out at this cottage with both the port across the street and the beach down the way! Weather hanging out on the back deck or walking to the local lobster shacks, you can’t go wrong. A nice quiet area with plenty of options food and entertainment. We will definitely be back!
Peggy was a delight to work with—the loft upstairs was a nice location with beautiful views of the sunrise. Off street parking was a nice bonus and there was no traffic to speak of. Close to good places to eat. Nice touch to leave jam and coffee for guests. Very happy with this find!
Charming Maine cottage
We loved the old cabin charm of the cottage. It has a great view, especially for sunsets! Walking distance to the beach and restaurants. A gift of coffee and jam upon arrival was a nice touch. We will be back. Thank you!
Taste of Pine Point
I've been coming to Pine Point for 45 years and this little home captures the flavor of the area. Cozy rooms, easy access, friendly and responsive owner. Would return and recommend immediately!
This place did not disappoint! We were able to walk to the private part of the beach which was not busy at all. Even though it was too cold to swim the girls at least got to wade in the water and had a blast looking for seashells. We enjoyed playing the games that were available when we got back to the house at night and the couple of restaurants we went to were delicious and just a block or 2 away. The house had plenty of space and everything we needed for our stay.
Wonderful family getaway!
We so enjoyed our stay at this property in Pine Point, Maine.
The location is great, the cottage has everything one needs and the upstairs bedroom was impressive and worked great for our son and his family! Thank you, Peggy and Brian for allowing our family the use of your charming cottage! It was perfect for our needs! We hope to return here sometime in the future.
Thank you Denise! You and your family were great guests!
