About Brad Carlson

Steve & I have been Vallecito residents full time now for 6 years. We purchased this home to offer others a chance at the Vallecito lifestyle that we love so much. Coming from LA California this quiet little valley was just what we needed! We tried to put all we could into your stay at Hidden Pines

Brad Carlson purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Brad Carlson chose Southwest

We loved the tall pines here, and thought some day we will make this our get a way home when we downsize. We really love Phoenix in the wintertime, but summers here are amazing!

What makes this cabin unique

From the rustic décor to the new lighting we chose, we have remodeled this little home by ourselves and find it quite compelling! We have a beautiful antique bar in the corner to enjoy and a cozy eat in kitchen for indoor dining. We have always preferred to eat on the deck outside where we can watch the deer, raccoons, birds yes and even bears go by. You'll find this home as charming as we do I hope! It's also a great value here at the lake.

Nice retreat for young family

  • 5 of 5

We stayed five nights at this cabin. It was the perfect size for my family (2 adults, 2 kids - ages 4 and 2). It is nicely furnished, clean, and well decorated - it even has a washer and dryer. In particular, the kids enjoyed the bunk beds and exploring the woods surrounding the cabin. My wife and I enjoyed just sitting on the porch in the quiet (no cell phone coverage at the cabin - what a blessing!) and walking the trails around the lake. A great place to get away from it all for a couple or a small family!

Close access to Vallecito Lake, but not easily walkable. The river access is about a 3/4 mile away down a dirt road - easily walkable (except with a 2 year old). Durango is about 1/2 hour drive away. Cell phone coverage is available closer to the Lake. Comfortable couch and chairs; nice flat screen TV with directTV access; stove/oven/microwave, plus a gas grill outside.

Vallecito Lake
Car: necessary

Vallecito Lake is located 19 miles from Durango, CO and is a great boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and anything you can think of in the mountains place! The beauty is stunning, the lake is 5 miles long and a mile wide. You can rent jet skis, boats, canoes, etc. at the marina. They even have paddle boarding. The hiking trails and atv trails are fantastic. This sweet cabin is located just 1/2 mile before Vallecito Dam at the lake. There are 4 restaurants and 2 stores at Vallecito, as well as a church and horse stables. The tall needles peaks are at the Northern end of the lake for breathtaking views. This home sits on an acre of tall, mature ponderosa pines.
