Your summer vacation memories begin here in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Minutes from the Northern Wisconsin border and 5 miles outside of Norway, Michigan, you'll find three pristine lakes. Our cottage rental is located on Lake Louise of the Hamilton Chain of Lakes. The cottage is recently remodeled, 2013 kitchen appliances and all the amenities of home. Great room and sun porch both have beautiful bay windows looking out onto Lake Louise. Two bedrooms with bed configurations: 1 queen in 1st bedroom, 1 queen and one twin in 2nd bedroom. Sleeps 5 comfortably in beds. Bathroom with a spacious shower. Large lakefront property with yard perfect for lawn games, lounging, and enjoying beautiful Lake Louise. The property has a dock, which is great for fishing or for tying up your boat. Large fire pit for bonfires and s'mores once the sun sets on your perfect lake day.
The owners are sisters who spent their summers on Lake Louise as kids. Approximately 20 years ago, their family had the opportunity to purchase the cottage where they spent their summers. Since then, Lake Louise has been their summer hiatus. In 2011, the sisters decided to make a purchase of their own.
Ann Thibert purchased this cottage in 2011
The sisters purchased this property from family friends who they knew from childhood at the Lake. After some love and updates, they modernized the cottage, but maintained the integrity and originality they remember fondly from their childhood.
This property has a beautiful view of all of Lake Louise - either outside on the expansive yard or inside from the great room or sun porch. A short walk down the road lands you on a bridge where the sunsets are breathtaking.
We stayed at the cottage for a month-everything was wonderful. The cottage has such a comfortable feel that you feel at home right away. The view of the lake is wonderful and such fun with the paddle boat.
To make everything perfect were our host Ann and Suzy and other members of their family. After spending a month here we are dreading to leave, but as they say "all good things must come to an end".
We would HIGHLY recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation in a wonderful updated cottage.
This cottage was great... very accessible, providing the up-north feel without having to drive 6 hours or more. The lake is wonderful! The owners of this cottage have created a gem... wonderfully renovated and impeccably decorated... they've thought of everything. The kitchen, in particular, is amazing! We spent the week leading up to and including July 4th. It was peaceful. We felt so at home we didn't want to leave!! We certainly plan to return!!!
There is a great park located on Lake Mary (Lake Louise's sister lake) and it is only about half a mile down the road from our cottage. Easily walkable, but there is also parking space if you choose to drive. The park includes a playground, large sandy beach, roped off swimming areas, a lifeguard, beach volleyball courts, and lots of grassy space for sunbathing! There are also picnic tables available if you're packing a lunch! Should you choose to bring or rent a boat, this park is also one of two boat landings available.
The closest grocery store is in downtown Norway, only a few miles down the road. There is also a bowling alley across the street.
In Iron Mountain, approximately 5 miles down the road, you can find a sporting goods store, a Walmart, Shopko, and a few more grocery stores. On the way to Iron Mountain, there is also a large movie theatre.
We can also provide you with information on where you can go strawberry picking, hiking at Piers Gorge, or tour an old iron mine.
