2 Bedroom/Loft, 2 Bathroom Cabin With Great Swimming, Kayaking, Views of Bluff
A warm, rustic, old-time Maine camp. Large kitchen, picture windows to the pond, deck with grill, and open loft plan make this cabin great for families. The swimming is great, with dock, raft, and wading area with rocks to sit on. The view of Parks Pond Bluff is really special. Take one of two kayaks or a canoe around the pond, known for being relatively quiet and clean with good fishing. Hike up the side of the bluff for a spectacular view, or through the woods to nearby Eagle Bluff. A great place to be in summer to escape the heat, but the gas-fired stove makes for a cozy place stay to see the fall foliage as well.
*Before June 30 or after September 6 you can rent for as few two nights.*

About Doug Still
This cabin on Parks Pond has belonged to the Still family for 45 years, and I've been going 'upta camp' since I was three years old. I wish I could stay there all summer!
Doug Still purchased this Cabin in 1969
Why Doug Still chose Parks Pond
It has been a favorite place for family and all the guests we've had over the years, with lots of good memories and great karma. Set in the woods, you really feel like you are away from it all. Swim, hike up the bluff, kayak, fish, or just read on the deck with a cold brew, there's not much to disturb you around here. If you are an early riser, the sunrise over the pond fills the camp with morning light. You might hear a loon too!
What makes this Cabin unique
The best part of being here is spending time swimming, kayaking, hiking, and hanging out with family and friends in a special place. There's no reason to leave! However, Bangor is only 15 miles away with everything you need - supermarkets, movie theaters, restaurants, the mall, and much more. If you are in the area during harness racing time, Bangor Raceway is always a good time. This is a great home base for the American Folk Festival in late August, and Bangor also has Waterfront Concerts all summer long. Acadia National Park is only 1 hour away, a great day trip to break up your stay on Parks Pond.

Wonderful camp; wonderful pond!
The house is quite large and very comfortable. Large, well appointed kitchen. dinning room and living room downstairs. There is a large deck off the living and dining room with a bird feeder that makes for fun sightings through the large glass doors. The washing machine was very handy along with a clothes line behind the house. Plenty of room to sleep 6 comfortably with 2 full bathrooms. The pond is great for swimming and kayaking with very little traffic in August during the week and only a minimal increase on the weekends. There are plenty of kayaks, and a canoe, to keep everyone on the pond. We had some good camp fires at the fire pit near the pond. I saw my first pileated woodpecker in the woods near the end of the pond, which was a big event for a lifelong birder. We have our name down for next August!
It was a pleasure having you both stay with us this month, you are terrific guests! I've learned more about all the birds here in Clifton thanks to you. I look forward to to hosting you again in 2018!
The camp was neat and clean, beautiful view of the pond and the over looking bluffs.
It was our second year visiting the camp. We had a great time kayaking first thing in the morning and visiting with the Eagles that fish on the far side of the pond. The pond is the perfect size, not so big as to have a lot of boat traffic, not so small as to be boring. Close enough to Bangor, Bucksport, and Acadia NP as to be an easy trip, but not so close that you're dealing with crowds. The camp is cozy and inviting with a view that can't be beat. We had an excellent week at Parks pond!
I'm glad your second summer on Parks Pond was as good as the first! Hopefully you'll make three in 2018. Loved having you stay.
We didn't want to leave.
The perfect place to get away from everything and spend time together as a family. We fell in love with Maine!
I'm so glad you and the family had a good time!
Tranquil, rustic charm
After years of vacationing along the coast of Maine we moved inland a bit to try something new. From early morning kayaking through the mist on the water to see a pair of eagles (2 of the 4 living at the pond) to returning at dusk to again see the eagles, as well as belted kingfishers and the ever present loons, this was the ideal place for a change of pace. The cabin, though rustic, has everything you need to enjoy your stay allowing you to feel right at home. The views of the sunrises and sunsets on the water are breathtaking. Sitting on the dock in between kayak trips around the pond is extremely relaxing and allows you to watch the loons on the water as well as the eagles circling above the bluff. (And yes we did climb the bluff. After climbing straight up the view was worth it.)
The cabin is pretty much centrally located, we were able to go into Acadia National Park for hiking without any difficulty. Doug, the owner, checks in to make sure your stay is enjoyable. The neighbors are very friendly, even offering us the use of their kayaks since there were 4 of us and only 2 kayaks. All-in-all it was the most relaxing week we've had in a long time and we are already planning a return trip next year.
Rustic Charm set in natural beauty
With a beautiful lake at the back door, the camp was a perfect escape from the routine vacation for us. The property served as a base from which my family and I explored the down east and mid coast region of Maine. The kids, 7, 11 and 15 enjoyed simply hanging at the cabin and passing the day swimming and kayaking the lake... And yes it even offers wifi...A bit of a surprise but a nice convenience. Evenings at the camp were quite peaceful with the occasional serenade of the resident Loons. We were even fortunate enough to have a Bald Eagle as a neighbor! For nature lovers looking to stay off the beaten path and away from the hustle and bustle commercial of "Anywhere USA", this property offers a sense of place that fits the bill!
We had a fantastic relaxing vacation and the place was great. Plenty of room for 2 adults 3 young and a big dog. We were a little disappointed to found out they were not a lot of fish in the lake (the all purpose for the boys vacation) but The neighbors on the left were very helpful with letting us know where to found a good fishing place and some good hiking spot ;-)
Will definitely will want to go back at some point ;-)
