great location ,beautiful view ,great host , store and takeout across the road. ARGENTIA FERRY !!!

  • 5 of 5

We were too early for the whales in the bay across street. Ferry was not opulent but berth good and shower great on ferry out of Argentina ! Don't attempt driving from Port aux Basques , that is one big island. Our host was very nice and conveniently located right next door. Beautiful country , very friendly people. Cell service spotty , road conditions sometimes poor. If on a bike it would be even more of a challenge. But did talk to bikers who were on their fourth trip !

Owner's Response: Thank You for your review. Yes, you were too early for the whales. There are lots here now putting on a show. Driving in NL is an adventure in itself. Hope to see you again some time.

Natural, beautiful environment.

The listing description was accurate regarding the location, layout and amenities.

The property was clean and well maintained.

The owner came by at the beginning and near the end of our stay to make sure everything was good.

Excellent and helpful in regards to letting us know places to visit. Great customer service.

I would recommend this to family and friends. Such a welcoming comfortable place.

I enjoyed visiting Johnson's Gardens next store. The guys liked Hogans fries. '

Northern Bay Sands Beach was very nice. Dark sand and interesting cliffs.

Lower Island Cove is where we saw our first whales. The kids played at Gull Island pond.

Nora's bakery was closed and didn't know of an alternative place to go for gifts or baked goods.

Bay de Verde was my favorite scenic community with very friendly people.

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice comments about the cabin's decor and etc. Sorry you didn't have a good stay because of the weather but of course that is out of our control, as you know. The power outage was caused by a thunder and lightening storm as well.I am at a lost as to what amenities were not available at chalet, as the chalet is well equipped. or did you mean things to do in the area on a wet day? if you could let me know that would be greatly appreciated.

Our third trip to Newfoundland

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the chalet for 8 days and we really enjoyed it. It was great location for our daily excursions of iceburg searches which went quite well. The chalet was well maintained, clean and had all the amenities we needed. Both Stella and her sister were very helpful and friendly. Having the takeout/convenience store across the road was an added bonus. I would definitely recommend this chalet and would return again for a visit. The Stonepub restaurant in Carbonear was well worth the visit as live entertainment was provided and the food was excellent.
