About Anabel

Hi, my name is Anabel and I live in Santa Barbara with my husband Robert and my daughter Jessica. We love, hiking, fishing on the lake, swimming, boating, horseback riding, and skiing. Welcome to our cabin we know you'll love it as much as we do.

Anabel purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Anabel chose Big Bear Lake

Our beautiful cabin is right in the heart of Big Bear Lake...just a few minutes walk to the Village and the Marina. You'll love relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views right off our spacious deck or taking a nice dip in our very secluded hot tub. We're also just steps away from an awesome trailhead where you'll find miles of hiking, biking, and off-roading. And we're just a few minute drive to the ski slopes!

What makes this cabin unique

The beautiful views off the back deck are one of the things I enjoy most.

Barbecuing, star gazing, or outside dining.

Relaxing in the tot tub after a day of swimming in the lake, hiking, or skiing.

The most perfect location!

Guestbook comments from the owner

The location of this house is great. A quick jaunt down the hill and in you're in the village. The decks are lovely and the fireplace was nice and cozy. The kitchen was well supplied and the host was very responsive.

Summer getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The cabin was exactly as described and pictured. It was more than enough room for our family of four. It is centrally located, but in a very quiet neighborhood and no more than a 10-minute walk to the village. It is very well stocked...EVERYTHING you could need in the kitchen; more than enough bath towels, plus extra for the jacuzzi; plenty of shampoo/conditioner/soap in both showers; family games/DVD's/books. And, it was very clean!

Coffee every morning on the deck was my "happy place", and the kids enjoyed being out there at night to stargaze. The blackout curtains in the living area do a great job of shading the afternoon sun, and the outside umbrellas do the same for the deck.

The nearby trail-head (literally just a few steps from the cabin on the other side of the street) made for a great hike without having to pack-up the car and drive to find one. This trail goes on and on for miles, and runs into many other trails. It is very well-marked. If your not sure how far you want to take it, try to get a local trail map. My husband and kids turned back after about a mile, but I took it all the way to Grandview Point...not easy, but absolutely gorgeous!

The checkout instructions were clear and very easy to follow. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this cabin to my family and friends.

Loved it! Looking Forward to Visiting Again!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in this lovely peaceful home! We WILL be back! The house has a homy, cozy feel to it. Very clean and comfortable. Locationwise, this home is close to shopping and restaurants in The Village but also in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen was fully stocked w/ everything you need to cook even a slow cooker which I used. We enjoyed the fireplace in the evenings while watching snowfall from the deck. So Pretty!

We are planning to visit Big Bear next winter and will definitely stay here again!

Awesome times at The Bears Den!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time staying at Anabel's cabin! The jacuzzi was perfect for relaxing after a day of snowboarding. We also took full advantage of the back deck cooking on the gas grill each night.

We'll definitely return to this super cute cabin and look forward to our next visit!

Pictures don't give you the full picture

  • 1 of 5

The home is very old and the bathrooms had drainage issues. The pictures give off the impression the hot tub is on the back deck, but rather it's in an awful place next to the cabin, and is inaccessible at night. Overall, if you're looking for something small and cheap, this is a good idea. Otherwise, if you're looking for better amenities, pass.

Owner's Response: I'm truly sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at our home as so many others have. I was very surprised with your rating since I've never received one that low before. I've tried very hard to make sure the photos picture our cabin as it truly is... notice there is no jacuzzi on the back deck. As far as the slow drain, when a guest informs me of a problem during their stay, like a slow drain, I offer to have it fixed during their visit and make sure it's ready for the next guest... I can't tend to things if not informed. I'm very reachable and is extremely important to keep the communication line open during all of our guests stay for this very reason. Though our cabin is a bit older as most cabins in Big Bear are, it has been upgraded yet keeping that charming old cabin feel that so many guests, new and returning have come to appreciate. As far as the Jacuzzi I've never had a complaint on its perfect location... downstairs just off the the back door where you'll find the three bedrooms and the second bathroom. The accesability is easy, lighted, and very close to the bathroom. I had it placed there for that very reason... convenience. This and our location is one of the most favored amenities of our place.

We had a fantastic experience. It was clean and well taken care of. We even had a small plumbing issue that was handled super quickly by Anabel.

The only two things I would hope for on our next stay would be a second sofa in the living area and a grate in the fireplace to help with starting fires.
