About the property

4 Bedroom fully remodeled Farmhouse on 117acre Organic Farm - Full of old Charm

Ridge Top Hideaway is a secluded 117 acre organic farm with amazing ridge top views in all directions. It has been my childhood dream to own this farm and to share it with my family and friends. When you drive down the 1/4 mile long driveway, you are being transformed into different time, when life was simpler. You can just feel peace, quiet, total serenity in the air when you arrive. I can't fully explain it, you just have to experience it. If you are looking for a great place to kick back and relax, you have found it. Sit on the large covered porch and watch the sunset, sit on the paver patio and enjoy a meal and a fire, or take a walk through the 2 1/2 miles of trails in the woods or down the country roads. If you enjoy wildlife watching, the farm has many Whitetail Deer, Wild Turkey, and Birds. We have totally remodeled the main farm house, updating everything while still keeping that old farmhouse feel. The house has 4 bedrooms; 1 with a Queen Bed, 1 with a Full Size Bed, 1 with a Twin, and 1 with 2 Singles. Then we also have a little room with a single and two sofa sleepers, 1 queen, and 1 twin. The house has all stainless steel appliances, washer and dryer, and is fully furnished with all of your kitchen and bathroom needs.

About Chad Williams

Hello, Visitors! I'm Chad Williams, a 38 year old, self employed Landscaping/Excavating Contractor. I have been in business for myself for 18 years. I have lived in the Viroqua area my whole life. I have four wonderful little boys, Carter, Conner, Carson, and Caden; along with their wonderful mother, Kristi. It was my childhood dream to own the farm that Ridge Top Hideaway is located on. I worked on this farm since I was 10 years old, milking, haying, and brush hogging. In 2013, my childhood dream came true and I was able to purchase the property. I have hope that you all will enjoy this farm as much as my family and I do.

Chad Williams purchased this farmhouse in 2013

Sibling Rivalry

  • 5 of 5

Myself and six siblings had a gathering for the first time in three years and we had a wonderful experience here. My one brother was happy to find all the right sports channels. Another was happy being a "piro" with the fire pit. My sister loved the groomed trails. A good time was had by all!

Home Away From Home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family attended a wedding in the Driftless area and found this farmhouse to rent for the weekend. We loved it! It felt like home. We were 7 adults and 5 children. There were plenty of comfortable beds, we all fit around the table for meals and enjoyed the fire pit, beautiful yard for games and loved the corn maze for a driveway! This clean and pleasant place made our little reunion a complete and happy pleasure! Thank you!

Beautifully restored farmhouse on quiet, secluded farm

  • 4 of 5

We had a group of 9 stay at this farm house (5 adults, 4 kids) and loved it. Chad was great - very friendly, accommodating and easy to communicate with. The house is great - lots of beds, lots of space, lovingly restored. We, however, spent most of our time on the back porch and patio. Lots of seating, fire pit, great sunset views (and no mosquitoes!). The chickens were a hoot and we enjoyed sharing the property with them. We highly recommend this place and would love to return.

Beautiful and peaceful farm setting

  • 4 of 5

This former dairy farm is now a nicely renovated property perfect for family gatherings or vacations. The house was nicely renovated and air conditioned which we appreciated during the heat of summer. Original details and woodwork show the house's history while updated amenities like wifi make it easy to stay connected. The back patio was our favorite spot with a large firepit and several seating areas for people to gather and relax.

Recommended for anyone looking for peace and quiet and a beautiful location!

A wonderful place.

This place is immaculate, and the grounds are kept in perfect condition. Very nice people to deal with as well. I loved waking up pre-dawn, and watching the light roll across the ridge land like a wave. Lots of birds. You cannot go wrong with this place.

Excellent farm setting; panoramic view! Home very tastefully & simply restored, good furnishings.

  • 4 of 5

This was a great geographic location, for our family rendezvous. The farm setting was perfect for our desire to be away and enjoy the 360 view and constant "bird concerts". Even the roosters crowing!

The farmhouse is very neatly restored and pleasantly decorated. There were (surprisingly) lots of kitchen cooking supplies (EXCEPT: more correctly fitting pan lids, and it would be nice to have a griddle).

The beds are comfortable. Nice pillows and bedding.

The bathroom is nice! Special: Noticed that the grout has come away from the bathtub, at floor; needs caulk.

The "outside" rooms (porch & patio) are wonderfully spacious.

The gas grill did not heat up very high (to provide for some good searing), even after 30 minutes of "preheat". (Maybe that's about the indirect heating method; stone brickets?)

Owners were very kind to us, which helped our overall stay be just right for all of us!

The Viroqua, Vernon County, area (also known as the Driftless Region) has much to offer. Just about every weekend, within a 45 minute drive from our location, there is a festival of some sort going on. Some examples are: Moral Mushroom Festival, Butterfest, Applefest, Cranberry Fest, Fall Fest, Wild West Days, Vernon County Fair, Westby Ski Jump, and that just names a few. We would be more than happy to provide you with a full list of events and theme dates. If wine is your thing, we have local wineries that offer tasting rooms and tours. The outdoor farmers market is always popular. It runs every Saturday from 8am-12pm, May through October. After the market, you can have lunch at one of Viroqua's fine restaurants: Dave's Pizza, Viking Inn, Blackhawk Grill, Driftless Cafe and the Viroqua Food Coop to name a few. We are in the heart of Amish country, so drive down just about any country road and you can find small road stands where you can purchase furniture, produce, and baked goods, all made by local amish. If you are up for a great evening meal, be sure to check out some of the area's fine dining: Old Towne Inn, Viking Inn, Kickapoo Inn, and my personal favorite, The Driftless Cafe where the Tenderloin Steak is to die for (along with everything else on their menu!) Chef Luke Zahm prides himself on using all local & organic ingredients. You will not be disappointed. Did someone say fishing? We have a few small lakes, the Mississippi (30 miles), and some of the best trout streams in the nation. This area was named in the top 5 in the nation in Trout Fishing Magazine. Hunting your thing? There are a lot of public hunting places nearby for small game, white tail deer, and wild turkey. After all of these activities, many people want to stay right at our farm and relax. When you are at Ridge Top Hideaway, it is like you are stepping back in time to the good old days when life was simpler. We have a fully remodeled four bedroom farmhouse with a large covered porch, 450sqft Paver Patio for grilling and enjoying meals outside. We also have about 2 1/2 miles of trails cut through our 47 acres of woods. This is great for a realizing walk, viewing wildlife, or cross country skiing in the winter.
