Spacious and comfortable home situated where a small river flows into Penobscot Bay, standard rental includes up to 6 people.
The house has spacious rooms --- kitchen, living, dining, 3 bedrooms, each with a bathroom. Beds include a king, a queen, a double and a trundle bed which is in the same bedroom as the queen.
The grounds are tree-lined and nicely landscaped. The water comes almost up to the lawn at high tide, and at low tide the water goes far out, exposing rocks and tide pools with lots of bird activity, including bald eagles.
A rowboat is included in the rental. Water at the mouth of the river is warmer for swimming than most of the open coastal water in this area.
Location is five minutes from downtown Belfast, a beautiful coastal town with good restaurants, galleries, shops, a food co-op, movies, as well as all the necessities (drug stories, supermarket, hospital, etc). It is also 20 minutes from Camden and 1 1/2 hr from beautiful Acadia National Park.
We have held small weddings on the lawn here with the bay as a backdrop. For an added fee, a wedding might be part of your stay.
A well-behaved pet could be considered.
The house was well maintained, comfortable and the ocean views were absolutely breathtaking. The home was close to Belfast and Camden and various other attractions(beautiful park 2 miles from house with free use of tennis/paddle ball courts, playground and pool) Great attraction for kids. We were treated with seeing Ospreys daily and witnessed a bald eagle diving for fish. The use of kayaks and row boat was a plus. Definitely would return again.
Staying at the house on the Little River was a wonderful experience. Jeffrey and Judith were great hosts and provided great recommendations of activities to do in the area. The house was great for our 3 kids and there was plenty of room for everybody (including teenagers). The kitchen was well equipped and a large dining area handled our dinners with ease. The interior was clean and comfortable. It seemed like we never stopped exploring the shoreline, using the kayaks, or taking in the amazing waterfront views from the Adirondack chairs! As we were sitting out and enjoying our morning coffee on the patio, we were amazed to see a bald eagle fly within 50 feet of us and perch in a tree in the yard! Belfast was a place we visited daily due to its close proximity and we enjoyed the various shops and restaurants. We also traveled to many other great Maine seaside attractions nearby. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat. We would definitely come back and stay at this piece of paradise again.
The property sits on a beautiful piece of waterfront property. Very nice back yard facing the water; however, att times the noise of traffic unfortunately spoils the serenity of the setting when sitting outside.
House is older property and smelled musty and unpleasant, particularly living room. The windows and screens need attention so that house can be kept aired out.
Was disappointed that the house was not maintained better, as there were cob webs and dust, and over all felt place was not as clean as it should be kept. As an example, there were used bars of soap left in the soap dishes in a couple of the bathrooms.
Most of these issues were brought to the attention of the owners and hopefully will be addressed.
