About Luann Ganz

This is a deeded property originally purchased by our family from the Diamond Match Company in 1958. The original logging cabins (one still remains on the property as work shed) were replaced by the current cabin in 1990. It is a place near and dear to our family and we hope it can become part of your family's traditions as well!

Priest Lake paradise for family group!

  • 5 of 5

Our eleven family members included four married couples, and three adult singles. My husband and I are in our 80s, our son and wife in their 50s, and the others in their 20s. No stairs for us or our son and wife, with two bedrooms on the main floor and private bath for each. The younger generation slept downstairs (beach level) in four separate bedrooms, with two baths. It was a perfect setup for privacy and good sleeping.

The kitchen has a great amount of counter space, lots of storage, and is well stocked. The dining table seated all 11 of us. The deck is large and has lots of seating. The view from there and the many windows is the lake and mountains. Sunsets were glorious.

We rented a boat for two days of water skiing and dinner across the lake at Elkins Resort: fabulous food and great huckleberry drinks. Our group used the stand-up paddleboards, the rowboat, and the canoe...all furnished by the cabin owners. We towed their large inner tubes behind the ski boat for those who didn't quite master water skis.

A day was spent hiking/climbing to Hunt Lake, where fishing was hugely successful. We went to Moose Knuckle restaurant/bar in the tiny town of Coolin for fabulous mushroom/cheese burgers. Leonard Paul store in Coolin has a large selection of Priest Lake clothing and memorabilia. Most evenings were occupied with card games and Mariner baseball games or a movie. (The TV has exceptionally good stereo sound.)

Cell phone service was poor but the cabin has a landline.

Priest Lake has a mystique about it that it unique: the beauty, the peacefulness, the quiet, the history of the place, the interesting people who live there year-round. It is "another world", perfect for our week's vacation. Luann and Bill Ganz, owners, welcomed us warmly as they gave us a tour of the property, then gladly answered our few questions. They were ideal hosts.

Relaxation at its best!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place! Priest lake is always a lovely get away, but this cabin makes it heavenly! Our family of 7 thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay. We have 5 kids ages 1-10, and never heard "I'm bored". The lake provided most of the entertainment, but there are plenty of hiking trails to venture out on as well. The road to the cabin would also be an incredible road bike ride with rolling hills and spectacular views. A short boat ride to the north puts you at the mouth of the thoroughfare that leads to pristine upper priest lake. Our stay was filled with quality family time and plenty of peaceful relaxation. Our only complaint: we should have stayed longer!
