About the property

The Tie Hack cabin is a large two story, 4 bedrooms, 2 bath cabin home located 6.4 west of Jasper, Arkansas on HWY 74 W. The interior of the cabin is extremely comfortable and spacious. The downstairs master has a queen bed. The second downstairs bedroom has two twin beds. One upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and the second has two queen beds. They all have spacious closets and storage. Tie Hack features a dining room table that seats six. Tie Hack is located between Steel creek and Kyles Landing, and is just minutes away from Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, making it a perfect location for your Newton County get away. Jasper and Ponca have Buffalo River concessionaires that rent rafts, canoes and Kayaks. As guests of the Tie Hack you are invited to utilize the swimming pool and hot tub at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. You will need to check in at the HCR Trading Post to get a wristband. Our cabin is fully furnished with linens, towels, and bedding. The kitchen has everything you need: refrigerator with ice maker, gas range and stove, dishwasher, microwave, blender, flattop grill and coffee pot...you just bring the food. There is a charcoal grill (you’ll need charcoal) off the back deck and plenty of shade for sitting. A washer and dryer are provided for your convenience, as is HD satellite TV, local phone and WIFI. A gas fireplace in the living room is a great end to those cool fall hiking trips on the Buffalo. Ample parking and beds for 10 make the Tie Hack great for a large family or for 2 families wanting to share accommodations. There are no gravel roads to travel to get to Tie Hack cabin, making it perfect for motorcycles wanting to stay on the pavement. Jasper is the County seat with a few good places to eat, fuel, and a small supermarket. The Tie Hack cabin is close to the Buffalo National River, the first designated national waterway and thousands of acres of National Forest land. Hiking, canoeing, kayaking, photography, wild-life viewing and leisure activities abound. Historical sites that tell the story of early settlers to the region are within quick driving range.

Whether you are hiking Indian creek, floating the Buffalo, exploring the beauty of the Ozarks or Rock Climbing and Zip lining at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, Tie Hack provides clean and comfortable housing for guests and is close to all the activities Newton County has to offer.

A good base camp location for those not expecting the typical VBRO standards

The previous couple of reviews are accurate and if I hadn't been raised in a similar older home I may not have been this kind. It has all the necessities, but don't expect everything to be perfect. Lots of room and plenty of beds and a rustic farmhouse character, but don't move anything or dust bunnies will attack your socks. The security light in the yard does not work so it's a pitch black return after dark. The gravely parking area is migrating onto the asphalt. Loose gravel on the paved pad is a major hazard. Future motorcycle renters should insist this be swept off before arrival. The grass was not mowed, but they did mow it several hours after we arrived. And then we got clean all the dust and debris off the bikes...nice! Mow before checkin should be a rule. Previous reviews about the doors not closing on the first floor are true. 5 minutes with a block plane would fix this type of stuff owners... wives won't tolerate this at home... so why here? The master bedroom door is the worst and will not close at all and swings back wide open due to sagging floors. The downstairs bathroom is the nicest...upstairs, well... we had to break into the maintenance closet and Clorox the black mold off the shower walls, so it was tolerable. Seriously... Shut the place down for a month and fix all the snowballing issues and this review would sound much different. The disrepair has reached the limit. Put a light fixture back over the kitchen sink... the bare wires are just hanging loose. Move all the furniture and clean the whole floor. And unlock the the maintenance closest for all guests. There is not gold in there. The next guests should know the extra toilet paper is horded there. Or just leave an extra role out, why the rationing? It was quite hot upon arrival, but the HVAC system does work very well and cooled everything down by the time we got back from dinner. And now... the landline phone. Guests should unplug it upon arrival... unless you really like being pestered by constant telemarketing calls. Nielsen is an hourly Robo call. This number is obviously not on the do not call list, so get it there. And lastly... bring ear plugs if barking dogs keep you awake. The neighbors to the east let them yap all night.

Ride early, stay out late and you'll be to tired to notice any of this. We came for the roads and views.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback Scott. We are sorry you had a bad experience. Our previous housekeepers had obviously let some things go. Since being made aware of these issues we have taken steps to bring our property up to expected standards. Just to name a few things; we replaced our housekeepers, the electric company has been notified about the yard light, and the light above the kitchen sink has been installed. All new bedding has been ordered as well. Unfortunately, we do not have control over some of the other things such as neighbor dogs barking. We hope you will give us another try as we try to correct any issues that arise with our property as soon as we know about them.

Jasper was great house not!!

Spiders everywhere and spiderwebs floors not clean. Upstairs shower so nasty we were afraid to use it. None of the bedroom or bathroom doors would shut. Light and ceiling fan didn't work in the 2 twin bedroom the list goes on. Yard was not mowed. If you stay here be sure to bring toilet paper!!

I wish you would have contacted us while here, so we could have had a chance to rectify the situation. We have taken steps to make sure future guests have a better experience, including hiring a new housekeeping crew. Thank you.

Nice place just needs a few extra touches to make it great!

We enjoyed the cabin, however there were some minor details that could have made it better. Dish soap was sparse and no dishwasher soap was provided, also no dish towels or sponge was found. Dirty dishes in cabinets, dirt under furniture and cobwebs were plentiful as well as a few mouse droppings in kitchen drawers. Finding out there were 2 showers was a plus. We would consider staying here again if some of these things are changed in the future.

Great cozy cabin!

Plenty of room for everyone. Rooms are spacious and two full bathrooms made it great for all the people! Had a great stay!

Perfect for larger or smaller groups

We stay here at least once a year while exploring the nearby Horseshoe Canyon Ranch and love it every time! There are always at least 2 other families with us, and there is more than enough room. Plus when splitting the already low cost amongst that many, it can't be beat! Beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is fully stocked with cookware. Bathrooms are rather large with towels provided. Can't say enough good things about the property and location. Will absolutely be returning year after year.

A great family friendly cabin

What a perfect find! We shared this cabin with friends for a long weekend of canoeing on the Buffalo. The cabin was clean and recently updated. The kitchen Was well stocked (minus a tea pitcher). The bedrooms were very large and the back porch was perfect for coffee with the adults in the morning. Our kids enjoyed running through the fenced yard playing tag. The charcoal grill was large. The only draw back (minor) was that the downstairs bath only had a tub. We managed but two showers would have accommodated the number of adults better. If traveling with children , I would recommend taking advantage of the use of the pool at Horse Shoe Canyon Ranch. It was BEAUTIFUL! There is even a hot tub. Do not pass this cabin up!!!
