This loft is a one bedroom, one bathroom, all on one level guest house.Because it's located on the top of the building it provides plenty of light from large windows all around and great views of the surrounding property with narrow views of the Sooke basin. It is very quiet and private. The space below is strictly storage. The kitchen is spacious with all the equipment to prepare and cook all your meals.
The bedroom is large with a king size bed plus an antique wardrobe for your clothing. Huge windows on two walls make this room cheerful and bright. All the windows have venetian blinds to reduce the direct sunlight if you choose.
The loft has central heating with an oil furnace and a propane fire place in the living area for cozy comfort. A large screen TV is in the living area accompanied by cd/dvd player, dock charger and sound/pvr system.
Going down the back steps takes you to a laundry room that auto lights the second you open the door. Totally equipped with washer, dryer, hanging rod, laundry sink and even a toilet.
On the front, very large deck you'll find a BBQ under cover and table with chairs for out door cocktails and dinning. Great views of the property from this deck and glimpses of the basin. Looking directly over the driveway you can see my workshop and studio. In front of the studio are half round benches and a fire pit you're welcome to use when fire regulations permit.
Studio visits are welcomed whenever I'm there or can be booked with a simple phone call almost anytime. If you find a piece of art you would like to buy I can ship it home for you.
Over to the other side of the loft you'll find a pond and picnic spot with a large, although old picnic table. Also there is another picnic table closer to the loft on the grass over looking the hills and evergreens.
I am a career artist living on this 2 1/2 acre property way up the hill from the guest loft. Born in Alberta and moved to Vancouver Island in 1972. I have moved around a bit; Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto and finally back to East Sooke on the Island.
James Roberts purchased this apartment in 2005
This is the second time we've lived here and it's hard to do better any where else. The property is tree'd and green with views and privacy.
There are three buildings on this land, very unique for the area. It was grandfathered to us this way. Today you can not build that many structures on this size of land. Thus I have an incredible studio, work shop, guest loft and a very attractive modified A-frame for us to live in. The buildings are all post and beam from logs harvested from the land. One would likely never be able to duplicate all this again. The climate is gentle; never to hot or to cold. Fair amount of rain in the winter months but that's why it remains incredibly green all year. Minimum snow fall in the winter months ( if any), almost welcomed for the beauty it creates in contrast to the vivid green. Here you have ocean, forrest and plenty of wildlife yet never more than an 1/2 to an hour from the city for shopping, entertainment and dinning. It's the perfect place for pets of all kinds, Alpacas to kittens, horses to chickens.
Anne And Bill are the kind of guests everyone who rents, hopes for. Clean, tidy and sociable. They had two very well behaved dogs that I rarely heard a sound from and also were a pleasure to be around. We would very much look forward to having them again in the future.
This loft is very well-equipped and has everything you need for a great stay. The king bed is very comfortable. The location is very private and quiet. The owners are great...very friendly, and they ensured that we had everything we needed during our stay. The awesome deck provided a wonderful spot for afternoon cocktails and to review the activities of the day. The washer and dryer came in handy after a successful day of fishing. All in all, a perfect five-star getaway.
It is hard to know where to begin. Our experience in every respect was so delightful and so much more than we expected. The setting and furnishings are superb. And it lacks for nothing. Probably the most well equipped kitchen in all our many, many stays. Clean as a whistle, comfortable in every regard. Our hosts were charming and helpful, hospitable beyond the norm. The location is very private, quiet and tranquil. We had our two dogs and they were welcomed warmly. We were there 4 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed every day.
Lovely, quiet place. A great home base for hiking and exploring. Thanks!
This is an immaculate artsy loft apartment on a large hilltop property, offering enjoyable views of East Sooke and its beauty.
We used this accommodation to visit with family in the area and were very happy with the well equipped kitchen,
comfortable bed, and laundry facilities. We were delighted to try walking on a few of the nearby trails and would
gladly return to explore more of the park area. The quiet of the night was so peaceful! It would be a nice getaway
destination. Great for a couple with or without a dog:)
We all enjoyed are time at the Cozy Loft! James had everything we needed to feel comfortable and at ease. Very friendly and accommodating to my husband and I, our two year old, and dog. We enjoyed the tour of the art studio, walks around the property and cooking in the kitchen that had everything you could need! Left feeling rested and relaxed : )
We booked very last minute, never having been to East Sooke before. The host James was incredible gracious helping us with anything we needed. The loft was well set up with a lovely view and very comfortable.... felt like being at home rather than in a rental. We are always looking for a a place to go that is dog friendly and this place is great. James was kind enough to offer to check on the pups when we went out for a few hours... he then took them up to his place and spoilt them rotten.... even sending my pics for their adventures. We will definitely be back!
