As the city fades in the distance and the mountains appear on the horizon, you’ll feel the tension melt from your shoulders. Welcome to Apple Mountain View Chalet, where the Blue Ridge Mountains meet the Shenandoah River. Just sixty miles from Washington, D.C. but worlds away from the everyday. Surrounded by beautiful mountains and valleys, glorious sunrises and sunsets, the awesome wonder of mother nature and wild life, even as you relax on the front or back decks and rejuvenate or enjoy a new adventure, any day at the chalet is memorable.
This inviting retreat is surrounded by spectacular mountain and valley views on all sides. Enjoy a glass of wine while you rock on the front porch, watching the sun set over the mountains, and a family of deer nibble grass in the yard. Prepare a meal with your friends in the modern kitchen and play a board game in the lofted living room with large windows open to the sparkling lights of the town below. Everyone can enjoy privacy and peace in one of the 4 bedrooms, with enough beds to sleep six (6) visitors. If you’re looking for quiet, take a long bath in the large upstairs tub or enjoy a book on the back patio. For a little more entertainment, enjoy satellite TV, Wi-Fi, a challenging game of ping pong, and a big family meal at the long kitchen table. If out-of-doors entertainment is what you are looking for, challenge someone to a game of tennis or basketball on the nearby private courts, have fun at the children’s playground just around the corner, refresh yourself at the community lake including a floating dock, and pack a basket of goodies and linger at one of the lakeside picnic tables.
Dozens of adventures await just a few miles from Apple Mountain View Chalet. This region of Virginia is home to dozens of wineries, featuring tasting rooms, concerts, outdoor seating, and winemaking tours. Enjoy one of Virginia’s most popular attractions - Skyline Drive Scenic Highway, a 105-mile ride through Shenandoah National Park with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Shenandoah River offers tubing, canoeing, and whitewater rafting starting just 9 miles down the road. For antique hunters, Old Town Front Royal is home to several antique, vintage, and thrift shops where treasures can always be found. A little further away, explore Luray Caverns, hiking, or skiing and snow tubing at Bryce Ski Resort. King’s Dominion, Charlottesville, and Harpers Ferry are all less than a 2 hour drive away.
The escape you’ve been looking for is only 60 miles from Washington. Leave your worries behind and make yourself at home in Apple Mountain View Chalet as you make lasting memories. Remember, any day at the chalet is a great day for making wonderful memories!
We reside in Florida and our favorite hobbies include traveling and sharing time with family and friends making wonderful memories.
Jon and Susan purchased this chalet in 2014
We live in Florida but both of us grew up in areas where we experienced the four seasons. We enjoy outdoor activities with our family and this home sold us immediately with the views and the surrounding areas offering so much recreation, and the close proximity (60 minutes) to Washington, D.C. One of our sons and his family live in Washington, D.C. so it provides us an opportunity to spend more time with them as well as the best of the big city and the relaxation of the countryside. This home is spacious enough to allow all of us our space and yet has great areas to come together as a family for meals in the dining area, socially in the living room, and for fun times in the lower family room.
We love all the views from the windows in this house. We enjoy rocking on the front porch and watching the sunset over the mountaintops. When we saw our first deer run through the backyard, one of our sons said 'Mom you must be in heaven.' One bad habit we have gotten into is enjoying the warm spicy donuts from the Apple House about a mile and a half away, reminding me of my childhood trips to the cider mills. Whatever your pleasure, you are sure to enjoy your day at the chalet.
The cabin was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was close to everything we wanted to do. The scenery was absolutely amazing...the pics do not do it justice. Thank you again for sharing such a beautiful place with us. Blessings.
We have been renting houses while going on family vacations for years now. I have to say this was one of the cleanest and well kept properties we have rented. Very nice large house at an easy to get to location. Another plus is that a gas station and a super Wal-mart are within minutes of property.
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful vacation home. We took a trip to Luray Caverns and also drove along Skyline Drive. The kids brought floats and enjoyed the lake. The sunset views from the deck were really beautiful. We enjoyed playing ping pong. Everything was really wonderful and we highly recommend this lovely vacation home. My mom vacationed with us and one day she stayed back at the house because she said she wanted to enjoy the mountain retreat. We had a wonderful multigenerational vacation.
This is a wonderful large house with all the amenities one could desire. Very clean and well-maintained. The views from the front porch are great, and the fireflies at night were spectacular. The kids loved the ping-pong table, as well as seeing deer and rabbits. It's perfect for a family vacation - Close to the Shenandoah National Park, Luray Caverns, Civil War battlefields, and the DC Metro station at Vienna. Our only gripe was that there are no accommodations for recycling. We ended up hauling our recyclable waste items back home with us. We gave it four stars but would have easily given it five if recycling was available. Other than that, we loved our time there. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great vacation house in the Shenandoah Valley.
This was such a beautiful place. We were very comfortable here. The view will take your breath away. It is a fun location if you wish to explore the local vineyards, the Skyline drive, the Luray Caverns, and Shenandoah National Park. This can even be a good base for you if you want to visit DC. This home was very spacious, clean, new, furnished tastefully, and had every amenity we needed. The big bathtub was very nice. It was just me and my husband but it looks like much larger families would have plenty of room to spread out in the three levels of living space.
I highly recommend this property. You will not be disappointed.
I want to thank Jon and Susan for sharing their beautiful house with us..We came up for spring break and had an awesome time, the house is absolutely beautiful and has every accommodation you could want..A bonus were the deer we got to see in the front and back yard while we were there..Plus the dogs and kids loved the large back yard..We would definitely stay here again..Jon and Susan are excellent to work with..We even took several days and went to DC, which was still pretty convenient since you just need to drive to Vienna to catch the Metro..Thanks again for sharing your awesome property with us.. The Lewis Family
This house is much bigger than the pictures make it seem. It is comfortable and has all the amenities of home. There was one thing that we were a little short on - there were only 3 towles which was too little for the 6 that they should have prepared for. The upstairs bathtub was not as clean as it should have been; I had to clean it before I used it. Other than those things, it was delightful and relaxing.
