This well maintained 4-bedroom ocean view house is now available for rental. This is a well-maintained, luxury vacation rental with partial ocean views. There is an open floor plan upstairs with wrap around deck for enjoying the ocean breezes and view. The house is perfect for group gatherings.
The house has previously undergone an extensive remodel and is nicely decorated for the comfort of our guests:
1. Modern kitchen with maple cabinets and a granite countertop
2. Downstairs bathroom with stone-tiled shower and granite-topped vanity
3. Upstairs bathroom with tub/shower and granite-topped vanity
4. Light and airy open floor plan with a French doors to the wrap around deck and a wood burning fireplace..
5. Wrap around deck convenient for lounging in the sun or BBQing.
6. Great living space for a large group get together.
The house has 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms. Downstairs are two bedrooms (one with a Queen bed, the other with 3 twin beds), a full bathroom and the laundry room. A spiral staircase takes you upstairs to the main living area, two bedrooms (one with a Queen bed, the other has a King bed) and a full bathroom. The living room, dining room and kitchen are open plan with a high ceiling, with huge windows providing a view of the ocean. Open the French doors and step onto the wide, wrap-around deck. Enjoy the ocean breeze and listen to the waves crashing onto the shore.
The house has new, modern appliances and DSL Internet access (wireless 802.11b/g and wired Ethernet).
The house is located in Aptos, just south of Capitola and north of Rio Del Mar. Santa Cruz and Monterey are a short drive away. The house is a stone's throw to the sea, but is on a bluff. You can walk to the beach in less than 10 minutes. We are near Seacliff beach, which is a wide, sandy beach and pet friendly.
There is parking for 5 cars in the driveway, and parking for an additional car on the street.
Now offering discount for mid week rentals. Ask when inquiring.
I am a computer software project manager at Hewlett-Packard. I bought this home because I love the Aptos/Santa Cruz area and want to retire there some day. Seacliff beach is one of the longest, cleanest beaches around and I love to take my dog for long walks. I have a Rat Terrier named Max. He loves the upper deck on the house, since he can watch people and thier pets walk by.
I like to cook, and you will find the house well supplied for cooking. I also like to travel and camp. My favorite travel locations are in Europe (love the cobblestone streets). My favorite camping location is the Giant redwoods in Northern California.
Jackie DeBruin purchased this house in 2003
This is a beatiful area with wonderful beaches and friendly people. There are lots of activities of all sorts nearby, including Monterey bay and Capitola, 2 of my favorite places.
Great sunsets from the deck, especially during the winter. Love to wine taste - available in Capitola, the Santa Cruz Mountains, Monterey Bay and Carmel Valley.
We stayed at this residence with another family for a week last summer. We were late to rent for the summer season. This was a last choice. At first the owner wanted to charge us $75 dollars to use her sheets. That was a first for us on VRBO. The beds were terrible, the sheets were low quality. The kitchen was stocked with the giant heavy plates and bowls that were not really great for our little kids. The decor is okay, there is no view. There were cheap baskets in the living room that were broken. The owner made us pay her for damage to her concrete driveway from sidewalk chalk. The backyard is an open area with rock and a deck with no furniture. The whole rental felt depressing. While there people kept walking by and saying (yelling really) they had stayed there. The neighbors would not look us in the eyes. It felt weird. Working with the owner was just sad. I think she has lost her joy at providing a wonderful vacation experience for families. Sadly, after 10 years of using VRBO this is the worst experience we have ever had.
My husband and I and our two dogs stayed at Jackie's home for a quick 3-day getaway before Thanksgiving. The home was immaculately clean, well-furnished, open and bright, and an easy walk to the beach -- some days I walked down 2-3 times. We loved the vaulted ceilings, fully equipped kitchen, and especially the HUGE front and back decks. Since it was Nov. we spent our time on the front deck in the sun, but in the summer the back deck would also be perfect for relaxing in the shade. The yard is securely fenced, and the deck also has a latched safety gate -- ideal for dogs or children. We listened to the seals and the waves, cooked, lounged, and are already talking about our next trip back. The dining table could easily seat 10-12, which would be great for families. Since there were just two of us we only used the upstairs, but the 4-bedroom house is spacious. Jackie was a pleasure to work with and even has a scrapbook in the house with suggested places to visit, eat, and goings-on about town. The neighbors were friendly and sent me home with cuttings from their garden, along with a recommendation to visit an amazing succulent farm in Castroville. Jackie has done a fantastic job with her home - it truly feels like a "home" rather than a sterilized rental. We will be back!
We stayed at this lovely home while we had a mini family reunion with my brother-in-law's family. 3 grandparents, 2 teens, and 2 parents. The home was immaculate and every detail was taken care of us.
We highly recommend this home and wish it was available again this year!
Thanks for a worry-free experience, Jackie!
Our family, including grandma, mom and dad, married son and wife and adult daughter plus two dogs enjoyed a week at this excellent house. It is clean and well kept and the remodeling work has been well executed. Our only difficulty was the very steep circular stairway. However, there is a good strong regular wooden stairway outside, and grandma used that. The kitchen was well supplied. The dishwasher wasn't great; we learned to wash the dishes by hand and use the dishwasher to sanitize them. The dining table is wonderful, and easily seats your whole group. The outdoor balcony was wonderful, and we enjoyed coffee outside in the morning. Also the beds were comfy.
The house is close to the beach. Just a few short blocks and then stairs down a cliff. The water was a little chilly, but the young people swam. So did the dogs. We were glad for the outside shower and hose so we could wash them off. My one comment here: this is not a sandy, funky, beach house but a well-maintained property. The owner expects, I think, that renters will keep it clean and rinse off sand, etc. and keep things tidy.
Jackie maintains a detailed notebook with info on local eateries and attractions. We didn't bother her otherwise, as everything was in good shape. We had a great time and would return.
My friends and family (dogs included) rented Jackie's home in May of 2012. We could not have been any happier with the house! The property as is described - new and clean. The beauty of the house is how the deck, the large dining table, kitchen, and family room are all in proximity; it made everyone feel close and not isolated. However, if you wished for some solitude, the downstairs bedrooms or backyard is ideal. The beach is a mere minutes away walking distance from the house. When we were home, we opened up the windows and enjoyed the ocean breeze. We would love to rent again from Jackie!
My sister and I brought our families here for five days and four nights for a spring break vacation from San Diego. The layout was perfect for us - we put our six kids downstairs and the four adults had the upstairs. The house was very clean and in great working order. The upstairs kitchen, living area and deck were perfect for breakfast and dinner-time meals for the ten of us. We took a number of walks down to the beach with the kids to find sea shells and let them run and very much enjoyed the neighborhood and area.
Aptos is just outside of Santa Cruz and bout 45 minutes north of Monterey. It was an excellent home-base for us as we headed each direction during our stay to explore the local attractions. I recommend this home - it's in great shape, in a convenient location and the owner is responsive and easy to work with.
We had a blast here - thanks!
