Three bedroom, 2 bath classic Victorian beach house, steps from the sand.

Lovely updated home with vintage charm just steps from the beach. Wonderful layout for friends and family to gather. Upon walking up the front steps, you will find a seating area that is a perfect place to sit and admire the ocean view and breezes. Enter into a lovely living room where the views continue. Relax here and watch TV, play games, read a book, or enjoy the view of Seabright Beach. The bedroom downstairs includes period furnishings and a queen size bed. In the dining room is a large table with seating for 6. A perfect place to enjoy a meal together. The dining room flows into the fully stocked kitchen which includes all a gourmet chef would desire. Marble countertops and top of the line appliances including, a Viking stove/oven, stainless steal dishwasher and refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. There is a walk in pantry off the kitchen for storage needs. Walk out the back door and find an enchanted, fully fenced garden. Among the greenery and flowers you'll enjoy an outdoor eating area and a charcoal grill. There is also an outdoor shower. (Perfect for showering off after a day at the beach.) A full bath (you'll feel like you're at a trendy spa) with pebble flooring and a bath shower combo along with a washer and dryer round out the bottom floor. Upstairs, you will find another two bedrooms. One has a pull out sofa, that becomes a double bed, an armoire and a desk with chair. The other bedroom has a king size bed, a desk with chair and built in bookshelves. (Feel free to borrow a good book or leave one.) The updated bathroom upstairs includes a shower with a pebble floor and a vintage style vanity. This home comes with 1 parking space and off street parking is allowed with no permit needed. This beautiful Victorian is the fifth house from the beach and is within walking distance of attractions, restaurants, and fun activities that everyone in your party will enjoy. All amenities & featires were just as described. Check in/check out hassle free and property was cozy, comfortable & rich with character. Parking for additional vehicles much more fluid than expected. Would rebook without 2nd thought!

Great location, but needs upgrades in amenities and comfort

The good: superb location; modern stove, good gas grill, excellent array of pots and pans; friendly neighbors.

The Not So Good: 1) The house did not have any beach chairs or a beach umbrella. After we complained they did bring us 4 beat up but serviceable chairs; but having beach chairs in a beach house seems pretty fundamental. I have no idea if they left them for future renters so check. 2) There is no screen on the front door, many windows are painted shut, and many others lack screens. The house has western exposure so it can get very hot even on a typically cool Santa Cruz day and night. Management advises that you open the front and rear doors to create air flow. Good idea but if you do so, and open windows, prepare to entertain some flies as the screenless front door (and some windows) give them easy access. 3) The absence of a front screen door creates two issues: first, if you leave the front door open as suggested anyone can walk up the steps and right into the house; plus the chain lock on the front door provides minimal security. So while crime isn't a big concern it'd be nice to have a little more security especially if you leave any valuables in the house when you leave, or if you're just hanging around. 4) The living room furniture is uncomfortable and old, much worse than other houses we've rented in Santa Cruz at this price point. 5) The Weber grill in the back is well past its prime and various parts are rusted, though the gas grill fires up quickly and cooks very well. 6) But there are few BBQ tools beyond a large set of tongs, e.g. no BBQ spatula or fork or basting brush. 7) There was no cutting board in the kitchen so it was impossible to chop vegetables, herbs, cut fruit, etc. They brought one on request (again, why should we have to ask) but it was very small. Check to confirm they left it or else your ability to make meals will be limited. 8) The kitchen knives were universally terrible and pretty useless for cutting and dicing. Bring your own knives if you plan to cook.

I don't expect perfection or the Ritz Carlton. But we've rented often in Seabright and this was by far the worst property yet it is aggressively priced. The owners could address every issue described with a very minimal investment and the payoff would be quite substantial in terms of making this property, which has such great potential, a truly first class rental. I hope this review encourages them to do so.

Great spot for a stay at the beach (and the Boardwalk)

This is a great house to use as your "home base" if you are staying in/near the Santa Cruz area. The home is well maintained and has a lot of natural sunlight throughout (particularly in the living room), so it's very bright and airy. The kitchen is really well equipped (loved the Viking stove!) and the 3 bedrooms provide ample space for a family or group of friends. There's also a grill on the back patio (with a nice table for relaxing and having some wine or coffee). The proximity to the beach is hard to beat (1 block, WITH great views) and it's an easy walk to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (a MUST for those traveling with kids). The management was really proactive with communications and setting everything up, so there were no surprises or difficulties during the stay. When we're staying in the area next time, we'll definitely look to this place first.

Enjoyable Time

We enjoyed our stay. Found house to be comfortable and clean. Enjoyed front porch for evening wine and watching ocean. We were able to walk to most everywhere we wanted to go. Our other half of the family

stayed across the street so kids and adults were able to visit easily.
