We are excited to offer our Loft House to vacationers to enjoy our 'little peace of heaven' that we are enjoying in our semi-retirement. Our family has had vacation property in Mason County since the 60's so we are very familiar with the area. We have had lake property and then moved to saltwater property on Pickering Passage as a family in 1989. We originally lived and grew up in West Seattle but after the kids leaving home and semi-retirement we decided to build a home in Mason County moving here permanently in 2013. We are loving the community and the people we've met. The setting is serene, quite and peaceful. We look forward to having others enjoy this special spot exploring the South South and the Olympic Peninsula.
Christy Rowe purchased this cottage in 2007
Many people don't know much about South Sound. Once they visit by boat or car people are amazed how quiet and beautiful this area is and by how close to hiking and exploring they are. We talked about moving out of Seattle for several years and finally made the move permanently April 2013 and we LOVE it here!
Benefits? Close to hiking, the Olympic National Forest, the salt water, Hood Canal. Birds, deer, otters and eagles galore. Unique get-away in an area of the Northwest that many people don't even know exist - South Sound.
Written review and responses between Homeowners and Guest:
Homeowner: "What did you especially enjoy about your stay?"
Guest: "Really enjoyed the quietness. Beautiful spot. I was there for golf and it met my needs perfectly."
Homeowner: "Is there anything we could have done to make your stay more enjoyable?"
Guest: "No, everything was very nice."
Homeowner: "Do you have suggestions we might consider adding or changing - either in The Loft unit itself or to the outdoor spaces?"
Guest: "It was perfect for me and more than I expected. I don't think you should change anything."
Thank-you Devin ~ we are glad your eight nights here were enjoyable.
We loved staying here. A perfect place to easily launch kayaks with kids. The home had everything we needed to make delicious meals. The grounds surrounding were fun to explore--you never need to leave. Hugh front yard for the kids to run around. A perfect place for a romantic get away. The hosts are incredibly kind and thoughtful and helpful.
We really enjoyed our time at the Guest Home on Pickering Passage. Highlights for us were:
- a yard for our son to enjoy
- beach access and water views just beyond the main house
- a dock that provided fun family fishing during high tide
- picking blackberries
- seeing deer
The owners were incredibly accommodating and the home itself is absolutely gorgeous and well stocked (great kitchen space, extra pillows, games). The wi-fi is also excellent. It was a great stay and would recommend!
Christy was a great host. The loft was clean, bright and very comfortable (even the Murphy bed!). The property grounds are beautiful. We really enjoyed our visit!
It was awesome. It's been a while since our last family vacation and this was the perfect place. The loft is not a big place but it has everything you will need from wi-fi to toothpaste. Beds were comfortable. The ladder to the loft was pretty steep so you do have to watch your step going up or down. The owners were very friendly and courteous. Quiet surrounding and beautifully landscaped yard. Beach access from owner's back yard which we have full access to. Did not have a chance to use the kayak during this visit but it's available for guests to use. The information binder at the loft has lots of info on nearby restaurants and activities if you are not familiar with south sound. All in all, an excellent place. Will definitely return in the future. Highly recommended.
Our family of four (2 adults, 2 school-age children) thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Everything was absolutely as advertised - quiet, scenic, new/modern ameneties, very well kept, abundant opportunities for recreation/sightseeing, etc. Although somewhat secluded (which is what we were looking for), the location was an ideal gateway for our day trips around the South Sound area and to Olympic National Park. The guest home was definitely cozy for the four of us, but not cramped. The best part of our stay was the owners; Christy and David were very welcoming, helpful and gracious hosts. We would ABSOLUTELY recommend them and their property to others. We loved our time at the Loft so much, we would have stayed longer if we could have!
Wife and I had a lovely golf weekend on Pickering Passage. "The Loft" is a small but richly and tastefully appointed cabin with all the amenities we could possibly need. The owners are friendly and helpful and respected our privacy.
It's a twenty minute drive into the small town of Shelton, WA. Shelton offers a few restaurants (We enjoyed The Strip Steakhouse), and a couple of supermarkets. Salish Cliffs golf course is thirty minutes away. Great golf courses in Bremerton and around Olympia too.
Note that this cabin does not overlook the water. Read the description closely... this is a cabin in the owners back yard. There is access to the beach and dock by walking past the owners house. Based on the photos, I made an assumption that we'd have views of the water. The text makes it clear this isn't the case... the mistake was entirely my own, but don't make the same assumption I made. The house is part of a small waterfront community, and although you can see many other houses from the cabin, we found it to be quiet and private.
Its a but tough to find, so be sure to contact the owners before setting out.
I recommend this property highly.
