About Liz Funk
My husband and I bought this lodge when our eldest son, Sam, was attending Stratton Mountain School for his 8th grade Winter Term. We also have three girls, Doodle , Jane and Nellie. We bought SkyLight Lodge from Frank and Jean Burns who were the original owners and they ran it as an Inn for over 40 years while raising their two daughters. We ski at Stratton and Bromley and snowmobile right from our front door on the VAST trail. We can literally walk across the street to Mistrals, a highly acclaimed French restaurant for Chauteaubriand. We live full time in Litchfield, Connecticut but spend as much time as we can in Vermont.
Liz Funk purchased this Lodge in 2004
Why Liz Funk chose Peru
In its heyday, SKI Magazine, February 1977 issue said, ' most of the serious skiers who frequent SkyLight Lodge wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. Evening entertainment consists of fireside conversation, usually about skiing. The Burns's promote good fellowship and guests with good senses of humor.' SKI Magazine, October 1994, said of SkyLight, 'The den in the cellar, says Jean, is where in the good ole days , everyone smoked and smooched.' Although SkyLight has been completely and beautifully redone the bones of this old school ski lodge is still there. It is warm and cozy while being able to accommodate a large crowd. We love it and know you will too.
What makes this Lodge unique
The view from one of the two Master Bedrooms of Mount Equinox is gorgeous. There are so many things to do in the area everyone will be happy. The possibilities are endless in every season.

This wonderful home is fantastic. The best of everything, especially charm and convenience.
This is the perfect home for a family and friend ski vacation. We couldn’t have been happier, and Liz and Steve could not have been more accommodating. My entire family loved our visit and are rebooking for next year.
Thank you Liz and Steve for letting us share your fabulous home. Tom & Chris Murphy
The perfect group getaway!!
Truly amazing time spent with family. We will be back!
Thank you Laurie! SkyLight is a very special place and I am so glad you all enjoyed your stay.
Perfect for Our Wedding Stay!
My wife and I, with the company of great friends and family, had the pleasure of staying at the Skylight Lodge during our Vermont wedding stay. It made our short list while searching for places to stay early on in our wedding planning. We sent out a couple e-mails to places inquiring about stays for 15 people and heard back quickly from Liz the owner. Right off the bat I knew this was the right place. Liz was so friendly and accommodating. She was interested in our wedding and offered some great ideas about local gifts and food services. She even had napkins made with our names on them which was pretty awesome! The pictures don’t do it justice. The Lodge is beautiful. It was so clean and the decor is great! You will fall in love as soon as you walk through the front door.
Liz hooked us up with her son Sam and his girlfriend Lela who helped us plan out a Welcome Dinner the night before our wedding. This included having a food truck (shout out to Hound Dogs!) come to the lodge and serve our 50 or so guests that night. Sam and Lela were so amazing! They helped us out with so much that night and we were so glad they were there to enjoy the time with us. We didn’t stop hearing about how nice the lodge was from all of our guests. It honestly felt like Liz, Sam, and Lela were family friends throughout this whole process. We had a blast and totally made the right decision on staying there! I’d highly recommend contacting Liz to book a stay with friends and family. It’s truly a special place!
A special place
We enjoyed sky light lodge! Great house for our group. Everything worked! Not your typical rental. We would definitely rent again thanks for sharing your lodge
what a great house for families/groups!!
The owners Steve and Liz are both wonderful and very much accommodating. Convenient location to Bromley, Stratton, and Manchester this house is a fantastic place for a VT getaway.
We are already mapping out the calendar for a return visit.
Every season at SkyLight Lodge brings its own attractions. Ski at nearby Stratton and Bromley in the winter. Cross Country ski at Hildene, Robert Todd Lincolns home overlooking the Battenkill Valley. SkyLight is on the VAST trail for snowmobilers. Fall is foliage and hiking up Mount Equinox or on the Long Trail. The Lodge is surrounded by the Green Mountain Forest and situated just below Spruce Peak. Spring is sugaring season and the sugar shacks are available to see how real Maple
syrup is made. Summer brings Dorset Summer Theatre, swimming in the Quarry, golfing and fishing. Bromley opens its Sun Mountain and has a ZipRider and Alpine Slide for fast paced thrills.
And each season has antiquing, great restaurants, museums, lots of outlets shopping (Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, Coach, Kate Spade, Theory, J.Crew...) and the beautiful Equinox Spa. Attend Fly-Fishing or Wingshooting Schools at Orvis in nearby Manchester. The American Museum of Fly Fishing, Battenkill River Canoe Trips, Southern Vermont Arts Center.
The best book store I have ever been to is Northshire Books and it has a good amount of author events and the best cafe attached for when you get hungry.
