Take the walking trail through the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary or head to the walking path along the shoreline (that has a pictorial history of the town) to Cannery row, home of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. A golfer's paradise awaits with numerous courses to choose from including the famous Pebble Beach. A short drive along the famed 17-mile drive will take you to the town of Carmel with its many art galleries and superb restaurants or to the historic Carmel Mission. And, of course, there is the breathtaking scenic beauty of the region, including the many beaches, Point Lobos, and the coastal drive on Highway 1 down to Big Sur, still a haven for artists, bohemians and free thinkers from all walks of life.

Sweet cottage, sweet stay

Delightful little cottage, quiet country-like lane. Charming inside, updated kitchen, comfy living areas. Aquarium passes a nice plus! We enjoyed beautiful sunny weather in November, which isn't unusual in the Monterey Bay. We would consider staying again.

Very Clean

  • 5 of 5

This is a nice little cottage. It will sleep 3 but I would not recommend that the 3rd person who would be sleeping on the foldout be an adult.

I am extremely picky when it comes to how clean a place is, this exceeded my OCD requirements :-)

private and organized

Great little spot tucked away on a quiet street. It was so nice to have a well-stocked kitchen with tea, coffee, oil, sugar, filters, etc. so that we didn't have to spend money on items we wouldn't be able to finish in three days. The kitchen was great to relax in. As with other reviews, the bed was too soft for my taste and the shower required concentration (which I don't have first thing in the morning) in order not to fall or soak the bath mat, but these are things you can easily get used to if you are spending a week. The aquarium is amazing and it was a great perk to have free passes.

Charming October 21-23, 2016

What a cute and comfortable cottage. Perfect example of older PG the way I remember it from my youth. The bed was really comfortable and the kitchen had everything I could need to make a nice meal. When I return to the area, I hope I can stay here again.

Nice little property, located near all the places we wanted to go

  • 4 of 5

This is probably the cleanest property I've ever stayed in--hotel, motel, house, cottage--any kind of property. It was in a nice quiet neighborhood which made evenings relaxing. The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked breakfast each morning. One of the best things was the location as we spent a day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, a day up and down Big Sur and a day at Point Lobos followed by an evening along Sunset Drive. This property was well situated to all three. I liked that Pacific Grove is smaller than Monterey yet it had everything I needed (Trader Joe's and great restaurants). It's a small property, perfect for 2 people.

Nice little town

  • 3 of 5

Comfortable cottage. Very clean and well kept. Had everything we needed but there were no washcloths. I called Rory about this and he stated that noone had ever asked for one. Hard to believe. He never brought any over.

The bed was only a full size but we didn't have a problem with that, which surprised us both. It was so comfortable!

The shower is very very small and the shower-head points at the shower curtain from the back wall. My husband had trouble keeping the curtain inside the shower.

The aquarium was very nice and we went to a couple of good restaurants.

Not a cute neighborhood and the street where you park your car is very narrow.

Owner's Response: Oh dear, this guest phoned me after 9 pm in the evening about the absence of a wash cloth. We offer plenty of other sized linens, so I could not understand the urgency of this request. A vacation rental is not a hotel with a 24 hour housekeeping service. Obviously, I was easy to reach after hours, and if this had been an emergency, I would have responded immediately and appropriately. My wife and I work very hard to provide a charming, well-appointed and affordable place for people to stay. Please read our other reviews. Sadly, it appears that this guest let the absence of a wash cloth taint her experience of our beautiful and peaceful Pacific Grove cottage. Some of her other negative comments feel unduly harsh like the size of the shower and the neighborhood not being cute. The shower stall is normal sized, and we are in an area with lots of other victorian era homes that are totally charming. We are surrounded by oaks trees with hanging moss, so the air is fresh and pristine. Our cottage is located on a quiet laneway. There is room to park a truck or SUV directly in front the purple gate and rock garden of our home, and still garbage trucks and and service vehicles can get through. I would think being on this very quiet laneway away from traffic is an asset to the location of our home. Despite our very best efforts to make every single guest happy, sometimes these things happen. Once again, make sure to read our other reviews.
