We are a family with two young kids. We bought this house so our kids (and us grown-ups) could get to explore all the wonderful things that Tahoe Donner, Truckee, and Lake Tahoe have to offer. We love having all this right out your door: skiing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, swimming, playgrounds, kids camps, archery, horseback riding, fishing, etc. We also love how peaceful it feels here in the mountains. It seems a world away from the Bay Area where we live.
Tahoe Truckee Homes Rentals purchased this house in 2012
The quality of house (built in mid-2000s), the huge family room downstairs, the proximity to the rec centers, and the green belt across the street (complete with loads of beaver dams) sold us on this location.
The house is wonderful. Lots of beds well stocked kitchen. Lots of kids games and toys to keep them entertained. The rental company is very helpful and responsive. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it's located on a frontage road and due to extremely heavy snow this year and the steep driveway it made gettinging into the garage a bit challenging. Overall it is a nice house and comfortable space with wifi and was a nice place to stay with the family. One good thing about having a steep driveway was that we enjoyed sledding down it!
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin with family and friends. There were two families with young children (3 yrs old) and some friends for a total of 7 of us). My family took the entire downstairs while the other family was upstairs in the kids room (two twin beds) and the master bedroom. My friend took the upstairs queen bed room but there are even more options (pull out couches) if needed. The layout is great-the kids really love the lower room downstairs and it's well-stocked with toys for varying ages as well as puzzles and games for both kids and adults. The place is very well-stocked with everything you would need and extremely clean. The beds were all very comfortable and we even used one of the pack-n-plays for my toddler. The location is wonderful with two of us using the new rec center (highly recommend!) and close proximity to Truckee and Tahoe Donner (family-friendly ski place that tailors to beginners). There is a pretty walking trail along the creek right across the street and although we cooked in a lot, we did get pizza at the place at the rec center-it was delicious! We can't recommend the place enough and will be back!
This charming house was perfectly suited for our getaway ski trip with 2 families, including 4 young children. The layout was perfect - a great room upstairs adjacent to the open kitchen with a freestanding gas stove for the adults to lounge and eat, and a large playroom downstairs for the kids to entertain themselves. The house was thoughtfully appointed, very clean and well kept. The large garage with attached "mud room" made it easy to transition in and out with all the ski gear. The location in Tahoe Donner was ideal - easy access to all of the community facilities, a 5 minute drive to town, and Squaw, Alpine, and North Star 15-20 minutes away... and 30 minutes closer than Tahoe City for us driving from SF. I can't wait to go back this year and try the cross country trails!
My family of 5 enjoyed this property - it was large enough to give everyone some space. The home is well laid out with a bonus room downstairs. The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed. It was extremely comfortable and accessible to both ski resorts and snowshoeing the Pacific Crest Trail. Great!
