About Kim Berry
Highmeadow has been in our family for 5 generations and we were lucky enough to buy it recently from our parents. Great Grandmother Sally built it as her summer, family home. It has seen a lot of dinner parties on the lawn, bike rides to town and the lighthouse, and wet towels on the line. We are thrilled to share it's history with you and hope you make as many memories as we have and still do! Kim, Spencer, Isabelle and Lilly

Why Kim Berry chose Cape Vincent
Charming and relaxing. Swim, kayak, bike, relax. Enjoy the quiet of Tibbitts Point Road and the charm of the house that is full of history and leave all your worries behind. After a week at Highmeadow pace, you will be invigorated and won't want to leave!
What makes this Cottage unique
4 beautiful vintage bikes for our guests to use. The river right at the end of the driveway. Perfect location for the avid biker with spectacular, quiet roads around Cape Vincent and on Wolf Island to explore for hours.

Property was not ready to be occupied.
The property was not cleaned, the hot water heater needed to be repaired (took 2.5 days), and the guest house had been sprayed with insecticide - making it unusable. Also had to install the window air conditioner (which was sitting in the garage). Overall the property was not ready to be rented.
A week of reminicing our childhood vacation spot
Our very grown up family spent a week that did not disappoint at Kim and Spencer's comfortable cottage. Visiting Watertown's Historical Society's Museum and street fair, Sackets Harbor restored Military buildings and park site of the War of 1812, Ogdensburg's Fredrick Remington Museum, Kingston, Old Fort Hennery and shops in Gananaque. Picnicked on Wesley Island taking in the fabulous old Victorian cottages with a must stop at the ice cream parlor. Attended a church supper in Cape Vincent, poked around in most gift and antique shop's from there to Watertown and not least, Tibbett's Point Light House which was the destination of several morning walks and evening bike rides. We also spent most mornings and evenings lounging on the lawn chairs watching the mist burn off to a week of wonderful weather and gloriously picture perfect sunset's over Lake Ontario. Kim and Spencer's vacation cottage was well equipped, cozy and uniquely set up that accommodated our family needs well. We all enjoyed the week long getaway hoping there are more such week's in the future. Thank you very much Kim and Spencer..
Calm, quiet, serene
We so enjoyed our stay at your lovely home. It was a chance to slow down and do nothing but relax and enjoy our surroundings. What struck me most after reading a journal left on the bookshelf was the decades of family history and enjoyment of the property. The sense of that continuity still pervades the place and envelopes new visitors. Thanks for sharing!
Old school vacation
We spent two fun weeks here and it was like going back in time (except for the wifi and DirecTV). It's great to be able to walk down to the river to swim or watch the sunset, walk to the lighthouse, or drive to downtown Cape Vincent in about 5 minutes. Vintage bicycles appeared fully functional but there are no helmets. The separate guest house is really nice if you bring another couple, parents, or extended family members. Kids loved sleeping in the attic, but watch out for the low ceiling and steep staircase.
The house has been in the family for decades and contributes to the feeling that time stands still in Cape Vincent. The flip side (and reason for four stars) is that the age of the house brings minor issues like cantankerous door latches, dripping faucets, room A/C only in the living room, etc. The house is small, and the dining table is in a small breezeway so if you had more than six people, you'd have to eat on couches or picnic on the lawn. (Bring bug spray - the mosquitos can be thick on still nights.) If there's rain and wind, the breezeway is wet and you have to retreat to the living room.
The owners were great - quick on communication and accommodating about special issues.
In short - it's a great house for a small, low-maintenance group.
Amazing vacation house
This was a great house to stay in with an amazing location! It is right on the water which is easy to access and great for swimming or kayaking. There were four great bikes which our family used to bike to town or the lighthouse which are both about a 10 minute ride. We also biked to Kingston in Canada for the day. It was a beautiful bike ride and was easy and fun to take the ferry across! The house was adorable with comfortable beds!
Thank you. The house is perfect for families and we try every year to improve it, including new kitchen items, new beds and a new sofa! Very comfortable! This fall we are upgrading the screened in porch. Very glad you enjoyed the house, the water and the location!!
Kim and Spencer
Recently returned from a week "on the River" and enjoyed my best week of the year there. The weather was hot and humid, which is what we prefer for the outdoor activities, but there is air conditioning available for the really warm nights. Most nights it was delicious to leave all of the doors and windows open to enjoy the cool night air and to listen to the coyotes howling out on Tibbetts Point and the large freighters going up and down the river. We enjoyed dining out most nights at area restaurants from Sacketts Harbor, Chaumont, Cape Vincent, Clayton and Alexandria Bay. Excellent food, amazing atmosphere and great music. There is so much to enjoy in the area and it's less than 2 hours to the Adirondack Mountains for a day trip. There's just so much more there than advertised by the owners and the history of the area is incredible. I was so sorry to read of the difficulties suffered by one of the guests. Cape Vincent is somewhat of a primitive area, by most standards, and things can go wrong. But, it also part of what creates the "days gone by" charm there. At least there is now "city water" which diminishes a lot of adventures from the past use of the river water. Looking forward to out next visit with plans to bring kids and grand kids. They'll entertain themselves. Loved the trip!
Located directly on the St. Lawrence Seaway, approximately 1 mile from Tibbetts Point Lighthouse and Lake Ontario. Very close to the Thousand Islands region. An ideal location for biking, walking, boating, bird watching, fishing, golf, and sight-seeing. Easy access by bike or car (via Horne's Ferry) to Big Sandy Bay on Wolfe Island and also Kingston Canada.
The house is available for weekly rentals from Saturday at 4:00 through Saturday at 11:00.
