About Sue Brandt

Stuart and Sue live on the property. We like to travel, more the outdoor/camp tourists than city tourists, and need to get out and do more of it!!

Stuart was born and raised in McMinnville and works locally as a landscaper. When he's not working for money,he's doing yoga, working on our property, reading a book or magazine, helping friends work on their property or involved in local volunteer activities.

Sue has lived in Yamhill County for the last 30 years, born and raised in the Midwest. She works in McMinnville. When she's not working, she's taking walks with girlfriends, going to the occasional yoga class with Stuart and also volunteers.

Sue Brandt purchased this house in 1999

Why Sue Brandt chose Oregon

Stuart bought this property back in the 1980's. It was a back to the land sort of era and he had massive gardens and assorted pet farm animals. The property is geared for wildlife habitat with extensive planting of native plants and habitat restoration. It is quiet, beautiful, just enough room to not have to see what the neighbors are up to, and we love the view of Mt. Hood when we're driving into McMinnville and the coast range and sunsets driving home.

What makes this house unique

Quiet, beautiful break from the day to day hustle of things. Consider the lack of internet access a welcome break.

Incredibly beautiful area with rolling hills and vineyards. Wineries open year round for wine tasting, sitting outside in the summer, slowly working your way through a flight of wines as you watch hawks soar is just the ticket to deep relaxation and contentment. Each small town in Yamhill County seems to have a local history museum with passionate, knowledgeable locals who have the whole afternoon to answer any and all your questions. McMinnville is packed with award winning restaurants like Thistle to Community Plate for delicious breakfast or lunch and monthly, oh-so-delicious, chefs dinners. There are 11 county parks, most located along small streams and kids can make a day of tangleboxing, a summer outdoor treasure hunt. There are city parks with special features and skate parks. Farmers markets are in McMinnville throughout the summer on Thursdays and Saturdays. Lots of specialty shops for clothing, art and trinkets. All year round there are art festivals, food festivals, UFO festival (look it up!), quilt shows, the community is bursting with creative people. Your hosts are a great resource for recommendations and updates on things to do.

Such a great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Our third time at this lovely home in the countryside. Spotlessly clean, everything you could possibly need in a two-bedroom house in the country. Highly recommend it for people visiting the area who want to stay outside of town.

The house was wonderful and very comfortable. It was a very peaceful and beautiful place. I would definately recommend it, and if I am down there again, it would be my first choice of a place to stay.

Amazing home, wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here for three days. I brought my granddaughter with us and I was little concerned because it was raining that weekend and I was hopeful we would be able to keep her busy. To my surprise when we arrived the home was equipped with everything one could possibly hope for, the hall closet had a very organized selection of toys for children ranging in age from one to an adult. We personally have a timeshare and this home was so much nicer than staying at our timeshare because it was like staying in your own home. My granddaughter met Roger and he let her feed the chickens. I will defiantly be going back when for another retreat. Thank you Sue and Stuart!

Wonderful, relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

Sue's place is a wonderful, relaxing getaway from Portland. Further out in wine country, the property is off the beaten path but still within a short drive to many wineries. The house is wonderful for 2 couples, but was well equipped for children as well. While we didn't see Sue, Stuart came by to make sure we had a lighter and headlamp to grill on the BBQ. He was very friendly and willing to provide what we needed. Sue was also very responsive, available via email and text message. Overall it was a great stay, and we will definitely recommend to family and friends, and hope to make it back ourselves sometime soon!

Very clean, simple, and well taken care of!

  • 5 of 5

I had a great experience with my family. There is no WiFi or phone reception, so it is a great opportunity to spend some quality with the family. It is very peaceful, and the view is great. The house is full with movies and board games, so that you can spend some fun times with the family. The heater is great! It keeps the house nice and warm compared to the freezing weather outsideThere is a small town near the house, which is convenient. If you are looking for a tranquil place to spend time with your family, this is the place to come!
