We are a family that has toured many places in the world and we call Lake Huron home. We love the views from this wonderful property. Our own home is only minutes away and find the area absolutly beautiful
Mark or Lindsay Soule purchased this cottage in 2014
There are so many terrific things to do in this area. However, you may find you don't ever want to leave the tranquility of the lake. This property is on the lake so all you need to do is grab your towel and jump in!
Unbelievable view of the Blue water bridge connecting Michigan to Canada is available from the beach. This cottage is in a great stretch of shoreline where large homes and cottages are built. Very unique rural area.
This is the perfect location for a vacation for so many reasons. FYI, this is my 2nd year at Lake Cottage and I have already made my reservation for 2017. It's a short, approx 2 hour drive from the Detroit Metro area, and it is very easy to get to. I loved the mix of seasons--some of the days were hot and sunny while others were cool with a touch of fall in the air and a blush of red in the tops of the maples. Port Huron is only 20 minutes away and Lexington is maybe 15 minutes (with the bridge out) in the other direction. I visited Marvins Gardens 5 times to pick peaches and red raspberries and to buy apples to make applesauce. The Thumbfest Music Festival is the Saturday before Labor Day--great fun with multiple stages presenting music at the same time all afternoon and into the evening. There is hiking nearby and the Bridge to Bay Trail that starts at the foot of the Blue Water Bridge is a wonderful walk with great freighter watching up close. (The trail continues on for many miles all the way to Algonac.) While the lake level has risen, you can get into the water with water shoes/sandals to manage the rocks that are close to shore. There are many maintained beaches close by--Lakeport State Park, a county park, two city beaches (Lakeshore, Lighthouse) in Port Huron--that have restrooms and picnic tables/shelters. Lindsay and her husband are very easy to deal with and answer all questions/respond to requests promptly. Fair warning, the veggie/fruit stand closed on Sunday before Labor Day and never opened again during my stay.
This was a perfect location for our group of friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit, lake access, and beautiful views! Many games were provided including yard and board games. We spoke with one neighbor briefly, who was very friendly. The water was very high, so there was not a beach, but this did not stop us from swimming in the water! Very rocky right off the ladder, so be careful (recommend water shoes). The clear skies and star gazing was a pleasant addition to the outdoor serene experience. One of the highlights for us was the fire pit. There are multiple places close by to buy firewood. We shopped around and found the cheapest location on the way toward Lexington.
The town of Lexington was adorable. We recommend spending some time exploring the town. If you enjoy beer or wine, check out the Lexington Brewery.
Lindsay was very helpful throughout the entire process. Everything was handled very quickly and professionally. Overall, we highly recommend!
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. The lakehouse is very comfortable. Enjoyed the wonderful view of Lake Huron. Spent alot of time just watching the lake, the freighters and sailboats from lounge chairs we brought with us. The last night we had a thunderstorm and the lightning over the lake rivaled sunrises in the mornings. Would recomend house to all.
Such a nice place, our family had a wonderful stay. The weather was beautiful almost every day but even on the cooler windy day my 10 & 12 year loved using their body boards in the waves. They have a nice sandy area where the kids built sand castles with the sand toys the owners furnished (such a nice surprise). We enjoyed the many outdoor games they supplied including corn hole and croquet just to name a few. It was so amazing to watch the many freighters come and go everyday. The home is perfect as well, very clean and well supplied. Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven.
Enjoyed two weeks of sun and fun with my daughter and her family. The lake was beautiful and the campfire awesome. We played a lot of games in the evening! We love the area. We especially took advantage of the veggie and fruit stand right across the street. Yummy stuff! the free concerts in Lexington are great.
Entire thumb coast area is a great tourist location with many breweries, wine growers and golf courses. Boating and fishing in Lake Huron is unrivaled. Lexington (10 miles north) is a quaint town with village boutiques, marina and great resturaunts. Port Huron has many museums, shops, and has recently developed a terrific water shoreline park.
