3 Bedroom Home With Splendid View Of 'The Canal'
About Fred Miller/owner
We live on and operate a farm in Wake County, NC which produces organic produce and has a horse boarding facility.
Fred Miller/owner purchased this House in 1999
Why Fred Miller/owner chose Carolina Beach
Our guest always mention the closeness of the house to the beach, which is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk but still convenient to all the restaurants, nightlife, stores and Carolina Beach's summer amusement park. With a view of the canal directly in front of us and the beach just 99 steps away, this nostalgic beach cottage has the unique charm of North Carolina coast life.

Beach Getaway - 2019
Our beach getaway cottage was in an excellent location to access the beach 🏖. The quaint cottage was clean and spacious. Downfall was the electrical outlets need some serious upgrades. And was uneasy about the exposed wires in the ceiling where there was no light. But other than those issues, the house was spacious, clean and in a great location. Worth the rental.
Warm and Welcoming!
Great place for families. Close to the beach, easy access. The deck was fabulous. Would highly recommend and would stay again in the future!
Perfect Weekend Getaway!!
Great location!!! Cute house and decor! Had everything we needed for a weekend away. We had easy access to the beach, just a short walk across the street. House is a little dated and could use some sprucing but the structure is good, the decor is cute, and it has everything we needed for the weekend. I would definitely recommend and stay again!
Thank you Sharon! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and took time to tell us about it. Please, come again!
Not worth the money. Basically a scam.
We had issues before we even arrived. We made reservations to stay here after Hurricane Florence. The owner insisted that we would still be able to stay in the rental even though it is within walking distance of the ocean. The hurricane caused us to have no ac and one less bed than promised. The owner would not let us get a refund unless we had proof of car troubles or someone became I'll, even though a HURRICANE had ravaged through the area just days prior to our reserved stay. He was nice every time we spoke to him on the phone, but that does not excuse what we had to deal with. The rental home was FILTHY despite the fact that he was supposedly paying cleaners to come after guestfuests left. This place was also ridiculously ubderstocked, no towels, no first aid kit (which is illegal), not to mention the soap was so watered down that it was actually just water inside a soap pump. After a few texts and calls to the owner, once he finally responded, he agreed to refund for the cleaning fee and because he did not bring the mattress until the last day or fix the ac at all. However, a refund wasn't even seen until over a week after our stay and after the owner ignored texts and phone calls asking about the refund.
I would not recommend staying here.
I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay. Hurricane Florence certainly took it's toll on our coast and we were much luckier than many other folks. My contact with your group was aware of the condition of the house after the hurricane as we were in steady communication. He knew I was trying to replace the one bed that had been ruined by water leaks and that the AC was out due to flood waters and could not be repaired by the weekend. He said that they had two blow-up queen mattress they could bring as well as box fans. The house has multiple ceiling fans, too. A new mattress and box spring were delivered the next afternoon. It's common for travelers to purchase travelers insurance that cover things like refunds in the event of a hurricane. Our VRBO refund policy is 100% for cancellations 30 days prior to check in and 50% 15 days prior and doesn't mention car trouble or illness. We do not provide linens or toiletries for quest, as a hotel would. We all wanted to make the stay work as it was booked earlier in the month and the family was traveling from Michigan and Florida to spend time together before his grandson, a Marine at Camp Lejuene, was to ship-out overseas. I offered to switch the weekend to a later time but the grandson was deploying the next week. My son and I drove 8 hours through road closures and detours and worked until midnight the night before their arrival, unboarding the house by flashlight, scrubbing walls, ceilings, counter-tops and mopping floors to get it ready for them. The "filth" was from some leak splatters on the wall behind the refrigerator and elsewhere that we missed. Sorry. We did end up refunding an equivalent of almost one of the two nights rental cost for their trouble and discomfort. The website takes up to 7 to 10 days to process a refund. We tried our best.
Super location and place
Nice house, appliances could use updating.
We enjoyed our stay. A great location in relation to the beach & walking distance to the boardwalk. We would recommend updating dishwasher & wash machine. Both are quite loud when operating.
Glad you enjoyed your stay. I appreciate your review. We were able to replace the washer last month and the dishwasher is next on the list!
I mile from Carolina Beach Boardwalk featuring arcades, shops, Britt's famous Doughnut shop, restaurants, bars and amusement park w/ ferris-wheel during summer season. 3 miles from craft brewery.
