Charming & relaxing farmhouse makes a great weekend away

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was fantastic. So many amenities especially in the kitchen, and the house is very big! We had little kids and adults and it was a perfect fit for both.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

We met family here from Columbus and Indianapolis and had a great, relaxing weekend! Great kitchen to cook in, great kids room complete with Legos and books. Everyone had a comfortable room. We will most likely be returning.

peaceful, relaxing. modern conveniences away from the rush of the big city

  • 4 of 5

Due to the home's age, had to get used to it's squeaks and quirks. That gave it it's charm. Had the wi-fi and cell phone coverage that the kids need but the location was great for quiet for adults. Dishes and appliances dated and chipped but everything worked. Would stay again. 11 in our party. House was big enough to keep everyone out of each other's way if desired.

Great place to enjoy family time!

  • 4 of 5

This impressive farmhouse was the perfect place for our extended family to meet and enjoy being together. Definitely a house with character; the creaky floors and old photographs added to the overall atmosphere. Even though it was obvious that efforts have been made to keep this estate as original as possible, the downstairs bathroom and the modern kitchen appliances were a pleasant surprise. That being said, the induction cook top, as well as the multiple shower heads, were a bit perplexing. Some instruction would have been helpful! It was interesting to study some of the aerial photographs and read up on a bit of your home's history. A scrapbook or written information on the background of the farm would be a nice touch! Having small children with us, ranging in age from 1 to 7, we spent a good bit of time at the Columbus Science Center, Young's Dairy Farm and shopping at the Fairview Mall. All of these destinations were a bit further than we expected, but not bad and certainly being able to stay in the beautiful countryside made up for a little extra travel time. It would have been nice if you had a few pamphlets or brochures from a few of the local points of interest, as well as information on where to get groceries or small travel items (We didn't find Shoemakers until the last day). Last but not least, a very special thank you for all the extra help with our 'special requests'. Having two children with severe food allergies, it was extremely helpful to have a print out of directions to the nearest health clinic. Also for taking time to search for a couple items we left behind and for all the correspondence back and forth. Your hospitality was greatly appreciated!! :)

Owner's Response: Hi Margie, Thank you for the feedback. We welcome any opportunity to improve our guests experience. I wanted to let you know that I have taken your suggestions and have updated the instructions for the cooktop and Master Shower that can be found on our property details. I have also added more local attractions, Grocery, Pharmacy and Hospital information. I appreciate that you pointed us to specific things we could do to improve the information for our future guests!

Interesting, beautiful, historic farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 5 adults stayed here for 4 nights during a trip to Columbus. The house has many beautiful updates, particularly the kitchen and master suite, in addition to a great deal of historic charm. We especially appreciated learning a little about the history of the home and farm. Everyone was comfortable, and we will all remember our time in this unique property, which is always my goal when utilizing a VRBO rental. Dirk was accessible and responsive, even when we arrived very late and needed assistance accessing the property. I would definitely recommend this property for groups of adults and those with children.

Fantastic Stay

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house for Thanksgiving with several family members from nearby states. There were 10 of us in all and everyone enjoyed the place. One of the features the men most liked was that the TV had a DVR recorder. We have rented many vacation homes and this is the first one that had a DVR recorder. Our family hates to watch TV, especially football games live because of the commercials. Great addition to make this available.

I loved the dining room - spacious for our group! The office was awesome as was the master bedroom and bath. Almost everyone ended up using that bathroom for showers as our family is tall and the other two showers were a little cramped.

Kitchen was nicely equipped. A little more instruction on the induction stove would have helped. Took us a while to figure it out!

The home is convenient to great shopping in Columbus and the airport - less than an hour away. The guys went to Dayton to the air museum and enjoyed it immensely. Also, a trip to Yellow Springs with the cute little shops and the brewery is a must.

Beautiful, serene setting!
