About Ken Lauderdale
We have been in the hospitality business for ten years. We have a Bed and Breakfast in Athens Ga called Fair Havens Plantation. This has been our get a way cabin for ten years and we have decided to put it on VRBO. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have with our children and grand kids.
Ken Lauderdale purchased this Cabin in 2004
Why Ken Lauderdale chose Clayton
We have been riding horses in this area for twenty years and love the climate and beauty of the mountains. Rabun County is where spring spends the summer. Our elevation is 2,500 feet and usually 10 degree cooler.
What makes this Cabin unique
We have loved this cabin because it is very private with great views. We are close to the national forest. We love the vaulted ceiling and wooded interior, and rock fire place. No drywall with rustic interior.

Great hosts and very cozy cabin
This place is very cozy and Ken always made him self available through the phone and with messages: Overall great stay!
Great location. Comfortable house. Ken was extremely helpful
We had two families at this house and we had a great time. Ken was very helpful and checked in with us after we arrived. The house was in a great location and fully equipped with all the things we needed.
Thank you for your kind remarks. We like to treat guests as family and we enjoy sharing our home. Please come again.

Great place. Very comfortable beds! Everything we needed for cooking and relaxing.
This cabin is very nice! The beds were obviously considered when the owners decided to offer as a vacation property. There is a ton of space regarding sleeping arrangements and the mattresses are high quality and VERY comfortable. I was worried the window units wouldn’t keep things cool enough but they will freeze you out if you run them on high. There is a shower upstairs and downstairs but not on the main level which was different but not really an issue. There is a large garden tub. We were here to trout fish and the house is very close to the river. We were able to fish in the morning, come back in for meals and go back out in the afternoon. The neighbors dogs come for a visit whenever they smell the grill. They are very friendly although a bit skittish at first. I’m sure some aren’t as happy to have them around as we were but once they realized we were all dog people they were comfortable enough to nap on the deck and visit with us when we were out enjoying the deck area. The only thing I would say needs some consideration is the fire pit area. If someone falls off of it they will get seriously hurt. I’d be very careful with kids and older less balanced folks. There is nothing between you and about a 20 foot drop. All of that said, there was nothing to keep us from coming back again next year. Thanks Ken for a very comfortable and relaxing stay!
thanks so much Ken and Linda for sharing your cabin. I was so happy there was only 1 tv in the place--that gave us time to play games and do things together. We had a wonderful time at the cabin as well as at Lake Burton and the Dillard House and stables.
Awesome NYE weekend!
Great cabin with a beautiful view! Very friendly and helpful owner. Short drive to downtown Clayton with great restaurants, wineries, shops etc. The perfect getaway and exactly what we were looking for!
Staying in the mountains
Everything was great for the weekend. We had a fantastic time in the area and hanging out at the house. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the decks.
Only 2.4 miles from Camp Ramah Darom. Short distance to white water rafting, Appalachian Trail head, vegetable stands(Osage Farms), orchards, and wineries. Favorite restaurants include the Dillard House, the Rusty Bike, Rumor Hazit, and Ishy's Grill.
