About Ken Lauderdale

We have been in the hospitality business for ten years. We have a Bed and Breakfast in Athens Ga called Fair Havens Plantation. This has been our get a way cabin for ten years and we have decided to put it on VRBO.

We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have with our children and grand kids.

Ken Lauderdale purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Ken Lauderdale chose Clayton

We have been riding horses in this area for twenty years and love the climate and beauty of the mountains. Rabun County is where spring spends the summer. Our elevation is 2,500 feet and usually 10 degree cooler.

What makes this cabin unique

We have loved this cabin because it is very private with great views. We are close to the national forest. We love the vaulted ceiling and wooded interior, and rock fire place. No drywall with rustic interior.

Staying in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great for the weekend. We had a fantastic time in the area and hanging out at the house. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the decks.

Cozy and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This hilltop cabin is cozy and comfortable. There is plenty of parking and the kitchen is very well stocked. Plenty of porches for relaxing! The hall bath on the main floor did not have a shower, but we shared and it was fine. The owner was very accessible and helpful. A great place for a family vacation!

Private Family Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed the views and coziness of this cabin. If it were up to me, I would have sat in the rocking chair on the balcony all day long. Its definitely a place that will bring your family closer while enjoying the fresh breeze or after a day of hiking and Lake Burton. Ken gives great recommendations and makes sure you are well accommodated for your stay.

Great Place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay while visiting Clayton Ga. me and some friends have been making the trip up to Clayton Ga. for some Trout fishing for several years now and decided this we wanted to stay in a cabin to avoid the rain. It was just like home, Very clean and cozy. Ken had everything you need to feel right at home. Plenty of room for everyone to relax after a hard day of fishing on the river. We didn't wanna leave. Looking forward to staying again next spring. Thanks Ken !!!

Really beautiful home, unfortunately there were fires on not too distant mountains.

  • 4 of 5

My family spent a wonderful 4 days over Thanksgiving in this beautiful home. Due to fires on not too distant mountains, there was a smell of smoke, but except for the final day we were able to see the mountains in the distance. There was everything we could have asked for and the cabin was very clean and comfortable. We had to call Ken Lauderdale a few times about minor things and he was very accommodating and kind. If we decide to go to this area again I will not hesitate to try to get this lovely cabin. The only problem we had was not being able to get the Wi-Fi to work. Personally for me it wasn't a problem, for the younger people in our group, it was. Kids!

Wonderful Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for the weekend (8/7-8/9). The cabin is nestled into the mountain, at the end of a road, so it feels very private. It was very clean, organized, and homey. The beds were SOOOO comfortable. We had 8 adults and 3 children, and there was more than enough room for more. While we were there, we visited Black Rock Mountain (the view was amazing; you cannot skip this). We then went and explored Tallulah Gorge all day Saturday. All eleven of us enjoyed every part of it. The cabin is not too far from Clayton downtown for food (about 15-20 minute drive); there's also a Walmart and various places to sit down and eat. We had a cookout (in the grill) and bonfire (in the fire pit); it was lovely. Even though the downstairs bedroom suite is only accessible outside, it was not an inconvenience. We actually liked being on the ground floor with our kids so that they wouldn't disturb the other adults who went to bed earlier. We even managed to stay up and play a board game; and even though we were loud, the upstairs adults didn't hear us at all. The kitchen is well-stocked with utensils/dishes/etc. I would love to stay here again!
