About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms, 6 Sleeps

1500 square foot home, 3 bedrooms with king beds all with private ensuites

The George Gordon Cabin is located in the downtown core of Penetanguishene, making it easy access to many of the local popular destinations. Only a short walk from the cabin and you're walking along one of our beautiful pathways hugging the shore of the harbour, or perhaps take a stroll on the beach looking out at Penetanguishene Harbour. Its an easy walk to our very popular afternoon or evening 30 Thousand Island cruise on the Georgian Queen. If you choose a more adventurous walk, keep going along the path into the woods for another 30 km, a very popular route for walking or bicycling.

Our 1825 Log Cabin, the first home in Penetanguishene has just finished two years of extensive renovations and is finally ready to be enjoyed once again. We have designed an open concept main floor exposing the original log walls of the cabin. All of the hardwood floors in the cabin are wood that was removed during the renovation and reused on the floors to create an amazing and truly authentic feel. The cabin has been decorated with an assortment of both vintage and new furnishings, giving it a great eclectic feel. The original stone fireplace still stands in the living area, and has been upgraded to gas for more modern convenience.

The kitchen has been equipped with fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave and a large farmers sink.

It is very easy to work in this kitchen and it has been equipped with pots, pans, dishes, cutlery and glasses for 6. There is a coffee maker, toaster and outdoor BBQ.

Our three suites upstairs all have private 3 piece en suites, one of our suites also has a claw foot tub. They have flat screen televisions, hair blower, wireless internet, ceiling fans and electric fireplaces. All of our beds in the suites are kingsize with memory foams for ultimate comfort and are draped in 100% cotton sheets and all have duvet's for warmth and coziness.

There is a covered wrap around verandah and a patio with adirondak chairs and a dining table outside at the back of the house for your enjoyment.

About Barb and Dave Turner

We were married in the local church almost 40 years ago and after being away from town for most of that time, we moved back to Penetanguishene about 8 years ago after purchasing our 1859 Heritage Home. After extensive renovations to the house, we have been running a B&B, Georgian Terrace Guest House for the past 6 years. We have truly enjoyed meeting the wonderful guests who we have stayed with us and when the house next door came up for sale, we loved the heritage of the home and felt very strong about preserving and restoring the house back to a cabin. We worked very hard for over two years on the cabin and are very proud with what we've accomplished with our renovation.

We hope you like it too.

Barb and Dave Turner purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Barb and Dave Turner chose Ontario

This property gives you all of the comforts of home but because of the age and history of the cabin, you can't replicate the amazing atmosphere of yesterday, the moment you step through the door.

What makes this cabin unique

How often do you have the opportunity to snuggle up in front of a fireplace with a coffee and read a book or fall asleep in a king size bed for the night in an 1825 log cabin?

Amazing Time!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed along with 2 other couples over New Year's Eve and had an amazing time!! The cabin is beautiful and cozy and I can't say enough about how comfortable the king-sized bed is and how wonderful the bedding was too. The cabin was perfect for a low-key NYE celebration - we danced to music, played games and had a great time. Thank you Barb and Dave for making this a NYE to remember!!! We loved it!! We will be back!

Beach vacation in style

  • 5 of 5

Barb and Dave have built a great getaway in the town of Penetang. The bedrooms are all beautiful and the king size beds are very comfortable.

We are normally found camping in Awenda this time of year but with a 3 year old and a newborn we knew we wanted something a bit more comfortable. while still being a 20 minute drive to the beach.

It has everything you need for a relaxing week or weekend away and would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Wedding home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Just a fabulous place!! It was our home away from home for our son's wedding. The cabin was fantastic. The beds were so awesome and comfortable and to have a shower and washroom in each bedroom was so terrific so everyone had their own place to get ready. High quality everything!! The kitchen/dining/living area was perfect for everyone dropping in and out on the way. Back yard serene, front porch rockers perfect for a nightly nightcap listening to the crickets. COULD NOT have asked for a more perfect place:) Terrific trails along the water just steps away from the cabin and the beautiful beaches minutes away. A magical place!
