Single family home within walking distance to Golden Gate Park and all that it has to offer, including the Japanese Tea Garden, the DeYoung museum, and the Academy of Sciences museum. 1 to 4 blocks away from many restaurants, markets, and coffee shops on Geary Blvd, including Peet's Coffee, Joe's Ice Cream, Gaspare's Pizza, a great wine shop, and a great food market. Also about 2 blocks away from a great park, and about 6 minutes drive to the Golden Gate Bridge. You get the idea - centrally located. Perfect for a family of up to 6.
The house is a beautiful, 1915 Edwardian with Craftsman elements. Great for families with kids. Backyard with barbeque and a newer trampoline. Open, gourmet kitchen (fully stocked - my wife is a trained cook). Beautiful living room with working fireplace, and formal dining room.
We are a family of 4 that love living in the city!
Kelly & Terry Whalen purchased this house in 2004
We love our charming 1915 house and our interesting city neighborhood close to nature/parks/beaches and all the fun things San Francisco has to offer. Our house is a great house for our family with all the comforts and room with a backyard and city living!
Great location with parking....hard to find. Clean, beautifully decorated, fantastic house. Very well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, amazing breakfast/sun room. It felt like home. We really loved it!
We had a great time, the house was clean and well stocked with things we needed. We were able to fit a mid-sized SUV into the garage which made getting in and out very convenient. The house itself was very nice and comfortable, sleeping arrangements were good. It's close to the Golden Gate Bridge and Lands End for some nice sightseeing, and it wasn't too long getting into the downtown area.
Our family stayed here for 5 nights in July. We had 6 people in our group and because San Francisco was the last stop on our trip, I was looking for someplace that was roomy and comfortable. This home fit the bill. As others have stated, the bathroom layout here are a bit quirky. Upstairs, there is a room with a tub/shower/sink and a small room with a toilet right next door. Another room with a toilet only is right off the kitchen. It worked fine or us. There were several board games we were able to enjoy, and a trampoline in the backyard. My boys used this daily. There is also a washer and dryer in the basement that was very convenient as well. We felt very safe in the neighborhood. We took the recommendations from Kelly and Terry and ate at a few of the local restaurants close by. We also enjoyed shopping at some of the local markets. We would recommend this place to anyone visiting beautiful San Francisco.
My wife, daughter, son and I stayed here 5 days in late June. The house is awesome and although older is very comfortable and has everything you need for a great stay. There is only one real bathroom but it is central to all the bedrooms on the top floor and worked well for us. The location is ideal as there are many great restaurants, shops, coffee shops, markets, bars nearby. Uber is only $15 to downtown, there is Zip Car right around the corner and the bus is an easy run into the city as well - you really don't need a car.
The owners are very easy to work with and the whole process of booking and getting to the house was extremely easy and straightforward even though we booked this at pretty much the last moment. The owners are also very responsive to questions and concerns and made it a great experience.
We would highly recommend this place if you want a great, relaxing time in San Fransisco and its surroundings.
Our family stayed here for 5 days and the transferred for 2 days to a hotel by the wharf, thinking access would be easier. We quickly determined this was not needed and wished we had booked the house for the full 7 days. It is a quick drive to the wharf, and we really did not do anything while staying at the wharf that we could not have done as well from the house. The owner was very accommodating and the house was comfortable and very nicely decorated. My wife and girls loved it. We cooked a couple of breakfasts and lunches at the house. We enjoyed the fireplace on the foggy cool mornings and evenings. The only drawback we had, was not having 2 bathrooms. With 2 teenage girls, you can guess how sharing one worked out. The water closet off the kitchen, does not have sink/mirror, so we were competing for the one beautifully remodeled full bath upstairs and using mirrors in the bedrooms. The neighborhood is great and the owners provided great recommendations for their local favorites including shopping, butchers, markets, restaurants, etc. I really recommend this house for a rental, and it was one of the high points for our family's 10 day trip. I also should mention they have a wonderful back yard. We did not enjoy it as much as we would have liked due to the fog and seasonably cool weather of late June, but it was beautiful, and the owners even offered to share fresh produce from their raised bed gardens, lemon tree, etc. Highly recommend if you enjoy a period 1915 house and fully embrace the minor adjustments that come with staying in a beautifully restored, older home. We loved it.
