I am a young professional that grew up in the Community and currently reside with my wife and two kids in Mathews County. I purchased the building in 2012 and with the help of family and friends have completely renovated the building into a professional office space on the lower level and the boutique apartment on the upper level.
Ricky Wiatt purchased this apartment in 2012
The structure was originally built in 1951 and operated continuously as a Barber Shop until my purchase; four generations of men in my family visited the shop over the years. I come from a family deeply rooted in the history of Gloucester County and am very passionate about the ongoing resurgence of the Courthouse Village. I currently serve on the Gloucester Main Street Association Board of Directors.
I WAS REFERRED TO THIS PROPERTY THROUGH SANDERS ASSISTED LIVING CARE. I WAS VISITING A DEAR FRIEND WHO IS 85 AND SHE RESIDES THERE. WHEN I FOUND THIS PROPERTY I WAS DELIGHTED BECAUSE I COULD WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO SEE MY FRIEND. TRYING TO CUT EXPENSES THIS WAS GREAT SO I DID NOT HAVE TO RENT A CAR.
MY STAY WAS GREAT; TOTALLY SHOCKED TO HAVE ACCESS TO A WASHER/DRYER AND ANY KITCHEN APPLIANCE ONE WOULD WANT TO USE DURING THEIR STAY. CLEARLY THERE IS THE "WOMANS TOUCH" AS EVERYTHING IS COLOR COORDINATED IN SOFT REDS. THE BED WAS GREAT; EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE. THE USE OF A TV. IN THE BEDROOM AND THE LIVING ROOM WAS CERTAINLY AN ADDED PLUS.
BY CHANCE I HAD PERSONAL CONTACT WITH THE OWNERS. BOTH WIFE AND HUSBAND WERE EXTREMELY ACCOMMODATING. BEING FROM WYOMING HE WAS ABLE TO TELL ME ABOUT TRAVEL ARRANGEMENT BY A LOCAL BUS. I ACTUALLY USED IT 3 TIMES IN MY SHORT STAY! THIS INFORMATION CERTAINLY ENABLED ME TO FEEL I HAD SOME FLEXIBILITY SINCE I WAS "ON FOOT" AS THEY SAY. I AM SO GRATEFUL TO SANDERS ASSISTED LIVING FOR THIS RECOMMENDATION. WHEN I TRAVEL AGAIN I WILL KNOW ALREADY THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE I NEED TO LOOK.
THE APARTMENT ITSELF IS IMMACULATE. IT IS ROOMY, COMPLETE WITH DISHES AND SILVERWARE AND MORE. I WISH I HAD BEEN THERE IN THE WARMER WEATHER AS THERE IS A PATIO IN THE BACK. EVERYTHING IN THE LISTING AND PICTURES WERE EXACTLY AS IT WAS.
My 2 Yorkshire terriers and I stayed from 12/26 to 01/02. The apartment is very clean and comfortable and the town of Gloucester Court House is a neat little place to explore. Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown plus plantations that are opened to the public are all within an hour's drive from there. I will highly recommend staying here and I plan to be back during the warmer season.
This condo is located on a quaint Main St. in Gloucester, VA. It is modern and newly renovated. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner was very nice and even allowed our "not so small" dog to say with us for the weekend with a fair fee. We will definitely be back again for another relaxing weekend filled with kayaking and fishing. The space was perfect for a family of three and our four legged dog.
While staying here in Gloucester I genuinely enjoyed the peace and quiet. I also loved the proximity of Ricky's apartment to everything. Being right on main street you're able to walk to, and delve into the local businesses, as well as take in the scenery main street has to offer. Not only is the location great but the newly finished apartment made me feel right at home. Cleanliness is spot on, and Ricky is more than accommodating to make your stay all the more wonderful. While my significant other and I were the only ones who stayed, it could easily fit a small family of four if the kids don't mind sharing the pull-out sofa (which has been outfitted with a memory foam topper.) The price is competitive with local hotels and arguably a much better stay. While you do not have room service, you do have a full kitchen, bathroom, a comfortable patio with LED lighting for those nice summer nights and complete privacy. I promise this will not be a disappointment and will make your stay as wonderful as mine was.
My week stay at Gloucester Courthouse could not have been any better! For a last minute trip, less than 12 hours notice, Ricky was amazing at making sure the rental was ready upon my arrival and he was available if I had any questions throughout my stay. Not only was the location right on the main street in this quaint town, there are shops and historical places close by. My ventures took me to Yorktown, Williamsburg, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach. Virginia Beach was the farthest as it was over an hour drive, but reasonable for a day trip. There is something for everyone, history, amusements, activities, wineries, events, etc! Oh yes, I enjoyed our Independence Day fireworks along the river. Wonderful time for me and my pups. I would recomend this location and hope to visit again soon!
This is a very nice apartment - 1 bedroom, laundry room, kitchen, full bath and living/dining area.
The apartment is upstairs above an architect's office on the main street of Gloucester Courthouse. There are a number of great restaurants and shops within walking distance.
The owner was very helpful in informing us of places to see and the best place to golf.
Our 15 lb. dog enjoyed his stay. There is a nice grass area across the street and we felt very safe walking our dog at night.
