This two story family home is located fifty feet directly above the crashing surf. The property has its own “island” in front of the house. Ocean’s Edge offers great privacy while near town. Built in the 1960’s, this 1,700 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin sleeps six with extra beds for eight. Spa room with whirlpool and ocean view! With a 180˚ unobstructed view, each room has its own perspective of the ocean. Its perch on the cliff makes it easy to spot the seasonal migration of whales. There are a myriad of shore, sea and wading birds or raptors making a stop in the trees on the “island” in front of the house. Many sea stacks dot the ocean. While there is no beach access from the property, within a short walking distance from the house, Pebble Beach may be reached. Winter stays at Ocean’s Edge can bring the northern Pacific’s dramatic winter storms with the surf pounding the beach and rocks below.
Holy SMOKES that view! I mean, are you kidding me? The house was weird, but in a good way (trust me on this one). Little seaside town, tired, but modern enough. But seriously, why leave that house? Just take an epic Redwoods hike a few miles away, buy your groceries a few blocks away, and spend most of your time watching the dramatic skies change with the weather, the tides go in and out, and some of the most awesome sunsets you'll ever see. And you don't even have to go outside in the cold to see it or hear it. But it's pretty great out there, too.
We stayed Thanksgiving week for a family vacation and just loved it. One of our group called the house the "Partridge Family Party House" which is the perfect description for this fun, funky house! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner. It was cold and stormy most of the week but we didn't mind, the house was warm and the views amazing. Plenty of towels and bedding. Best sleep I've had in months. On the one day that the weather cooperated we went for a hike in the very nearby redwoods, absolutely breathtaking. Found a crab shack on the water in town and brought home the most delicious crab ever. Access to the beach just a short walk up the street. This vacation was everything we hoped it would be, I am still dreaming of those incredible views!
We don't know how we could have found a better place to enjoy our family vacation. This view and location were so perfect!
Susan was very helpful and very kind to work with.
The house is older and like any place could use some updates but it was a beauty in our eyes.
All the suggestions and ideas for us to enjoy and explore we sure did plus more.
We suggest adding Enders Beach to the list as it was a nice hike and so worth the ending result.
The house was cozy and comfy. Beds were comfortable. Had everything and more that we needed. We loved chilling on the patio and listening to the waves splash up against the rocks. It was a dream come true.
Our trip was to explore the redwoods and it's still a shock that the Redwoods were so beautiful and so close. It was fantastic to be minutes away from the Redwood Forest and be staying on the coast.
I would highly recommend this vacation rental and with hopes we will have the money to return again.
There wasn't a single thing to complain about. We could see ourselves living there!
Thank you again Susan for everything and helping make our Daughters 18th family vacation extra special.
We absolutely loved our stay here! The deck on the back overlooking the ocean was a great place for us to toast to our amazing 17 day girlfriend roadtrip from Seattle to Crescent City and home via Portland. We wanted for nothing! Plenty of room, towels, cooking utensils, you name it we had access to it. Susan left us some great info on the area with places to go to and places to eat. We hit most of the things she suggested and she was spot on. I slept with my window open every night to listen to the ocean and every morning we were greeted by foggy vistas! I was in heaven! Loved this home and will stay here again if I'm back in the area!
WOW, WE LOVED OUR STAY, THE HOME WAS CLEAN, EVERYTHING STOCKED AND READILY AVAILABLE. ARRANGEMENTS WERE EASY AND STRESS FREE, SUSAN WAS WONDERFUL, THE FRESH FLOWERS WERE SURPRISING, BUT THE VIEW WILL TAKE YOUR BREATHE AWAY. THANK YOU FOR A TRIP OF A LIFETIME
This house was perfect for the two of us, but would easily accommodate a family with kids. Tons of space. We spent 9 days here while we enjoyed the Redwoods and the beautiful coastline of northern California and southern Oregon. We looked at Eureka and other places to stay, but are glad we chose to stay in Ocean's Edge cabin in quiet Crescent City. We loved the house, nothing better than sitting at the dining table looking out at the ocean and listening to the waves crashing on the rocks. The view from the deck was awesome, and made for a great place to sip morning coffee or enjoy a glass of wine in the evening while watching the gulls and Osprey that would frequent that part of the coastline.
Crescent City is a nice quiet small town with a great marina and beach area. Great location for our daily ventures. First time for us to experience the Redwoods, they are almost indescribable and so easily accessible. Cal Barrel Rd is an awesome drive through the Redwoods and highly recommended, just a short drive to Prairie Creek State park. Fern Canyon would be another highly recommended visit, very cool. Probably our favorite location was Klamath River where it empties into the ocean, at the end of Klamath Beach rd. Countless sea lions playing and feeding in the surf, along with numerous sea birds & Osprey, and a beautiful rocky coastline.
So much to see and do and a great place to relax and unwind.
Conditions on the nearby rivers present some of the best steelhead, salmon and trout fishing on the northern Pacific coast. The Smith River is an incredibly scenic river, the aqua color influenced by the serpentine rock throughout the area. Whether a drive beside the river or one of its forks, drift fishing, or a picnic, this river is a must see.
Beaches in Del Norte County are sparsely populated. Often all your own.
Other activities include surfing, kayaking, boating, fishing and clamming. The ocean temperature is approximately 55º F year round and air temps typically range from 55-70ºF.
Within a 10 minute drive, nearby World Heritage Site Redwoods National and State Parks offer an unparalleled experience!
