Cozy, relaxing, comforting
We couldn't have picked any better place. Close to every thing yet secluded and very quiet. The Culbreth's were genuinely friendly and near by. We hope to stay again when we visit the grand's and great grand's again.
Perfect for us
Everything about this home is perfect. We fell in love immediately. Tina has anything you could possibly need in her beautiful home. The bedrooms are very nice and both beds are super comfy. The kitchen is spacious and fully stocked. Loved the living room and patio area too. My family will definite be staying there again. Thank you for everything Tina!
Hidden away, but perfect for local fun
We knew this property wasn't located right on the beach. That was just fine with us since we are country people ourselves. This hidden treasure was just what we needed for a family get away and a chance for my dad to enjoy some fishing (something he has been wanting to do for over 10 years).
First of all, the pictures don't do this place justice. It is so much better in person. We just fell in love with it. Tina was very helpful throughout the whole reservation process, checking in, and any questions we had during our stay.
We were able to drive to the beach, park at the pier (you only pay $1 to walk on, $11 if you are fishing) and enjoy ourselves. We went to the local Rod & Reel Shop to get the bait my dad needed to complete his fishing needs (thanks to a local for advice). We had ice cream at 2 places (Beach-N-Cream & Sweet Gecko Candybar (this place rocks for candy too). Enjoyed getting souvenirs at Islander Resort Wear, playing mini-golf at Harbor Island Mini Golf and just playing in the sand at the beach during the day & at night (watch out for ghost crabs though). Wish we had gone more often though to Jerome's Steak & Seafood restaurant for their buffet. It was well worth the price. Food :Lion & Walmart are close by. See what I mean about everything you need, but still having the privacy.
Mrs. Vivian's place gave us home away from home. I think that is what made it so special to us. We were able to spend time with our kids (our son works so much that we hardly ever see him) & my dad has had a lot happen to him in the last few years (the most recent was a triple by-pass). This trip was his dream vacation. It made his day when he was able to enjoy the fish he caught & we had grilled it up for him. It brought back memories of times he had when my mom was still alive. That was well worth the trip. Memories! With my kids, my dad and my hunny.
So, if you truly want a home away from all the stress, this is the place. The drive to the beach is nothing considering how special this place is. You can see the love and care they have given it. It has a story too. Ask Tina about it. It is their memory & worth it.
Make this place one of your memories. You won't regret it.

Great little beach cottage
My friends and I have booked this house for our annual girls' beach weekend 4 years in a row now, and we keep coming back because it is just perfect for us! A short drive to the beach, the perfect size for 3 people, and the kitchen is stocked with all the necessities for us to prepare our meals.
We look forward to our stay at this house every year!
Clean and well kept
Perfect for a family stay. Close enough to everything that it isn't inconvenient but far enough away that it wasnt too busy. More than enough room for 2 adults and 3 kids under 9 and everything needed to make the stay comfortable was there. The outside shower was great for the kids after time spent at the beach. Owner was friendly on the two occasions that we texted. Would have loved to stay longer than we did and would return for another stay anytime.
This is an awesome place to vacation. Miss Tina has provided everything you can think of to ensure a wonderful family vacation. The property was clean, comfortable and conveniently located just minutes away from the beach. My children enjoyed the family games and especially the outdoor shower(I really enjoyed that as well!).This was our second year visiting and we plan on returning next year!
Located 30-40 minutes from either Wilmington, NC( 35 mi )or Myrtle Beach, SC,( 32 mi) each with their own special charm and places to explore.
Myrtle Beach has the great shopping as well as lovely beaches, endless mini-golf , quality dining and entertainment including the Carolina Opry (a must see), the Alabama Theater and the House of Blues.
In Wilmington you can tour the USS North Carolina battleship, stroll the lovely waterfront along the Cape Fear River and explore the historic district. Wilmington also provides lots of shopping and quality dining.
The city of Southport is only a 30 minute drive and is well worth the trip. The picturesque downtown area is right on the Cape Fear and is a lovely place to spend a day exploring the quaint shops and lapping up the history. Several movies have been filmed here and it's easy to see why. Two ferry options offer further explorations - Bald Head Island, where no motor vehicles are allowed, is quite interesting and you can climb "Old Baldy", the lighthouse there. Golf cars are available to rent for ease in exploring the island. Or, take the Ft. Fisher ferry to tour the historic Civil War fort, or visit the NC Aquarium. From here you can drive up the island coast to Carolina and Kure beaches and on to Wilmington if you so desire.
If you enjoy wineries, the Silver Coast Winery is just 25 minutes or (19 mi )and offers tours and tastings of their award winning wines. They also display local art in their gallery.
Shallotte is just 8 miles away and is where you'll find larger grocery stores, the local WalMart and other chain store shopping as well as dining choices. Of course you'll find lots of local seafood markets all around the area if you prefer to prepare your own meals.
You may enjoy exploring the neighboring islands and getting close to the lighthouses. You can drive right to the Oak Island lighthouse which is( 28 mi) . Drive to Ocean Isle, Sunset and Calabash for new experiences. And of course Calabash is well known as the seafood capital and always offers an enjoyable seafood dinner at any one of the local restaurants there.
If you're a golfer - take your pick. Rivers Edge golf club (3.8 mi) Brick Landing Plantation (4.3 mi) Lockwood Folly (6.3) Holden Beach Driving Range 2.4 mi Shallotte, Wilmington, Myrtle Beach and all points in between offer golf courses and golf links.
We love browsing the many thrift and antique shops in the area. You could go every day and always find something new to do.
